Bradley-Cooper-41066-702.jpg

Hitfix is reporting the rumor that The Hangover star Bradley Cooper (Wedding Crashers, "Alias") is a frontrunner to play the title role in director Martin Campbell's Green Lantern. No deal has been signed yet, however.

The site says the Warner Bros. Pictures comic book adaptation starts shooting later this summer for a December 17, 2010 release.

The "Green Lantern" was created in 1940 by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell. Hal Jordan, introduced in 1959, is a second-generation test pilot, an ordinary man who was given the power ring and battery (lantern) by a dying alien named Abin Sur. When Abin Sur's spaceship crashed on Earth, the alien used his ring to seek out an individual to take his place as Green Lantern: someone who was "utterly honest and born without fear."

Brian Austin Green And Shawn Roberts Among Potential ?Green Lantern? Leads?

The Bradley Cooper as Green Lantern casting rumor hasn?t even begun to cool down, and already there are new names being thrown into the ring for the coveted role of Hal Jordan.

Unnamed sources are telling Latino Review that newcomer actor Shawn Roberts and ?Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles? star Brian Austin Green are both in contention for the lead role in director Martin Campbell?s ?Green Lantern? adaptation, set to release on June 17, 2011.

Roberts is said to have auditioned for Campbell ?various times? and has met with the director to discuss the role and the film. He also has an advantage in that he recently wrapped filming on Campbell?s ?Edge of Darkness.? The site is also quick to point out that Roberts is 25 years old, falling right in the optimal age range for a younger Hal Jordan.

Meanwhile, the site claims that Green has also auditioned for the role, going so far as to wear the famous Green Lantern mask. According to Latino Review?s source, Green is considered to be a longshot due to his older age. Even if the actor doesn?t land the ?Green Lantern? gig, Green will still have a connection to comic book cinema for a time to come ? his girlfriend Megan Fox, currently filming ?Jonah Hex,? is attached to star in ?Fathom,? which Green will co-produce.

Maybe the most concrete news you can take from these latest casting rumors is that Campbell has definitely not made up his mind about who will play the heroic superhero. With the film?s release date pushed back six months, it?s likely we?ll be hearing a lot more stories like this in the weeks to come.

Ok me like others are confused ... I didn't read a lot of GL comics ... but is GL supposed to be black, or white? Some comics he was black, others he was white... so i'm kinda lost :l

Sounds a bit like Nick Fury where he was white and lately has been modeled on Sam Jackson.

well currently there are 4 green lanterns from Earth

Hal Jordan (white)

Guy Gardner (white)

John Stewart (black)

Kyle Raynor (white)

im not including alan scott cause well hes different.

Its really a pita to explain here so i suggest checking the wikipedia since there is just so much information . The just of it is Hal Jordan got the ring because he was closer to the source(a dying green lantern who crashed to earth by the name of Abin Sur) and Guy Gardner was passed up since he was further away. Later he was chosen, then Stewart, then Kyle.

Ryan Reynolds is Green Lantern

Yesterday it was reported that Justin Timberlake was in contention to play The Green Lantern. JT had shot a screen test for the film, as had the other three contenders Bradley Cooper, Jared Leto, and Ryan Reynolds. But at the end of the day on Friday, Reynolds was chosen over the other finalists to play the role of Hal Jordan aka The Green Lantern.

The Hollywood Reporter adds that the deal isn?t yet finalized, but Reynolds in the final choice (they just need to agree on money and specifics). The studio ?had holding options on the three actors, but, except for Reynolds, those expired Monday. Reynolds? option would have expired end of day Friday.? Producer Donald De Line, director Martin Campbell and the studio each had different favorites which made it difficult to agree on any one choice.

The film?s budget isn?t finalized but Warner Bros is hoping to begin shooting in January, hoping to have the films in theaters for the previously announced June 17th 2011 release date. Last we heard, Warners was planning to shoot the film at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney (to take advantage of tax rebates), with a budget of around $150 million.

Casino Royale director Martin Campbell is set to helm the project based on a screenplay by Greg Berlanti (Everwood, Eli Stone), Marc Guggenheim (Law & Order, Eli Stone) and Michael Green (Smallville, Heroes). The Green Lantern character was created by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell in All-American Comics #16, published in July 1940. The Green Lantern possesses a power ring that gives him control over the physical world as long as the wielder has sufficient willpower and strength to wield it.

What do you think of the choice of Ryan Reynolds? He certainly looks the part and has the right physique for the role. He?s very likable and charismatic actor who has been stuck in a bunch of bad films, but I definitely like the choice ? especially over Justin Timberlake. But I?m wondering how this may effect Marvel/Fox?s preliminary plans to have him play Deadpool in a stand-alone film.

I'm so glad that Justin Timberlake and Jared Leto didn't get the part. Both aren't fit for superhero movies. I think that Bradley Cooper is a better choice. I'm sure Ryan Reynolds can do the Green Lantern role justice, like he did with Deadpool. But it's going to be weird to see Ryan Reynolds both as Deadpool and the Green Lantern.

...why are they both not fit for superhero movies?

I thought Reynolds would have been great as wisecracking The Flash. Isn't GL supposed to be kind of uptight and military like?

I thought he would've made a great Flash too, actually. That was the first role I saw him in. But he fits Deadpool perfectly, too.

GL is kind of uptight I suppose you could say, and yes, military like. He's an Air Force pilot.

When I think of Ryan Reynolds, I also think of Deadpool. I figure it won't be too bad to see him in both roles. Especially if he can change his acting style to match the personalities of the characters. Personally though, I would've preferred Nathan Fillion (Malcolm Reynolds/Firefly).

    • Microsoft releases major feature updates for stock Windows 11 apps by Taras Buria In addition to releasing new Windows 11 preview builds, Microsoft announced that inbox Windows apps now have dedicated release notes in the official documentation. At long last, users have access to all the release notes for each app, with changes listed in chronological order. Microsoft used to announce feature updates for stock apps with each build. Now, with Windows Insider release notes hosted on the Microsoft Learn website, each app has a dedicated space for its changelog, which is very useful for those who want to track new features and improvements. Alongside that, Microsoft dropped massive feature updates for six stock apps: Clock, Media Player, Calculator, Voice Recorder, Photos, and Paint. Each app packs quite a lot of changes and new capabilities, so here are the release notes. Here are quick notes so that you can jump to the app you are interested in the most: Calculator Camera Clock Media Player Paint Photos Sound Recorder Here is what is new for the Calculator in version 11.2605.9.0: More accurate square-root results β€” Fixed rare cases where a calculation that should equal zero (like sqrt(2.25) - 1.5) returned a tiny leftover value instead. Smarter default settings β€” When you haven't set a preference, the app now follows your system settings by default. The Clock app has a massive changelog with the following improvements in version 11.2605.9.0: Timers keep counting after they hit zero β€” When a timer runs out, it now keeps counting up (for example, -00:27:31) so you can see how far past the time you've gone. New 15-minute snooze option β€” Alarms now offer a 15-minute snooze interval. Run up to 3 countdowns at once β€” The Countdown Widget now supports three simultaneous countdowns, up from two. Timer Widget notifications now appear β€” Fixed an issue where the "timer finished" notification didn't show when the timer was started from the widget. Up-to-date World Clock locations β€” Refreshed country and city names to match their current names. Fixed back-button behavior in clock comparisons β€” Pressing back once now takes you back as expected, instead of jumping the date to 1926. Corrected the Newfoundland time zone β€” Newfoundland now uses the right time zone (St. John's). Disabled alarms stay looking disabled β€” Editing a turned-off alarm no longer makes it appear turned on. Cleaner timer cards β€” The expand button is now turned off on timer cards that have no time set, preventing actions that wouldn't do anything. Clearer theme setting β€” Updated the wording to "Choose your preferred app theme." Smoother Settings links β€” The "About" links in Settings no longer trigger an unexpected "switch apps" prompt. Fixed spacing in Spotify settings β€” Corrected uneven spacing in the Spotify settings card. Fewer playback failures β€” Improved how the app recognizes supported file types, so more files play without issues. Playlists need a name β€” You can no longer accidentally save a playlist with a blank name. Cleaner look for empty playlists β€” Improved how a playlist appears when it has no items yet. More stable play queue edits β€” Fixed a crash that could happen when changing the play queue while the app was switching between sessions. Clearer "missing codec" message β€” Improved the dialog that appears when a file needs a codec you don't have, with clearer guidance on what to do. A big update is also available for Paint in version 11.2605.61.0: Adjustable eraser transparency β€” You can now control how transparent the eraser is. Cleaner stamp brush strokes β€” Fixed visible color shifts and artifacts when using stamp-style brushes. JPEG photos save in place β€” Opening a rotated JPEG and pressing Save now overwrites the original instead of unexpectedly prompting "Save As." No more crash on bad image files β€” Opening a damaged or invalid image, from within the app, by double click, or commandline, now shows a clear error message instead of closing the app. Classic selection behavior restored β€” The selection outline now hides while you move, resize, or rotate a selection, just like in classic Paint. Tidier AI image panel β€” Fixed missing spacing at the bottom of the AI image generation panel for a cleaner layout. Visible button hover in light theme β€” Toolbar split buttons now show a clear hover highlight in the light theme. Snappier toolbar β€” Streamlined how the ribbon lays out, giving a small speed boost at startup. Fewer background crashes β€” Fixed a crash that could happen while background tasks were finishing up. Stable app shutdown β€” Prevented rare crashes when closing the app. Fixed layer removal glitch β€” Deleting the active layer no longer leaves the layers list in an inconsistent state. Here is what is new in the Photos app (version 2026.11060.2004.0): AI watermarking β€” AI-generated or edited images can now carry a visible Copilot watermark. You choose Never, Always, or Ask Every Time in Settings, with a confirmation when saving. The watermarking is off by default in settings. Better viewing of small images and pixel art β€” Tiny images (like 16Γ—16 pixel art) now zoom in far more to fill the screen and stay crisp instead of looking blurry. Select scanned text with the keyboard β€” When text is detected in an image, you can now navigate and select it using the arrow keys, Shift+Arrow, Home/End, and Ctrl+A, with a clear focus highlight. Fixed a crash in text recognition β€” Resolved a crash that could close Photos while detecting text in images; the app now recovers gracefully. Easier keyboard navigation β€” Tabbing through the navigation bar no longer stops on hidden controls, so it takes a single Tab to move past it instead of three. And finally, here is the Sound Recorder (version 11.2605.1.0): Waveform shows with Bluetooth mics β€” The live waveform now displays correctly when you record using a Bluetooth audio device. No more stray scrollbar β€” A non-working horizontal scrollbar no longer appears at the bottom of the waveform unless you've zoomed in. Mark button ready right away β€” The Mark button no longer looks grayed out until you hover over it after opening the app. Markers hidden for WAV files β€” Markers are now turned off for WAV recordings, since that format can't store them β€” so they're no longer lost silently. Smoother deleting β€” Quickly pressing Delete and Enter to remove several recordings in a row no longer triggers a "file doesn't exist" error. Fixed a memory issue β€” Resolved a memory leak that occurred each time a recording started. You can find all these changelogs in the official documentation here.
    • again, an article about Microsoft Edge and ridicules hater's comments
    • From this very same article: "For organizations that prefer a β€œmore deliberate pace”, the Extended Stable channel remains an option."
    • Or every other browser, because they all behave the same, at least the mainstream ones. Firefox does exactly the same: background updates, restart to install them. Haters gotta hate, I guess.
