JagedEdge can you list the questions you've got so far? Do we have 'How do I replace the start button' and 'Is there a Winamp 2.9 skin anywhere?' answered? :D

Thanks Orphic :)

Well, first you gotta fix that bug with the new startbutton. :p

Here is a plan possibily giga could do,

Use the hosting that I would provide for say 150mb and take advantage of directory listening.

Create folders like Classix, Then once in that Visual Style - Winamp -, etc, you can go into Visual Style and have archived things. The first release, second released, new release, all there and nicely RARED at best.

I think that would be a great idea! :p

Umm what bug?! :s

:edit: Do you mean when you replace the startbutton for the one with 'Start' text and it gets cut off? Oh that's been fixed ages ago  Actually that was fixed in this coming update.

Well then release it! :p BTW: Here's what I plan on doing for my new FAQ type thingy:

I. Getting Started

Installing Classix

Well, hopefully soon, we?ll create an installer for this theme, but in the meantime here?s the info:

? First, unzip the archive into X:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\

? Right-click on your desktop

? Choose the appearance tab

? Choose the theme (Classix or ClassixSD)

? Choose a color scheme

? Press Apply, then OK when it?s done.

  Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. What if it doesn?t appear in the Appearance tab theme chooser?

A. You haven?t installed the hacked uxtheme.dll file. Here are the two files:

  Without SP1

  With SP1

READMEs for installing are included in each file.

II. Installing Mods and ModPacks

The New Startbuttons?

Here we go. It?s not that hard, but it?s not that easy. You have to have basic skills in Resource Hacker:

? Open Classix.msstyles or ClassixSD.msstyles in Resource Hacker (might have to change to All Files view)

? Expand the Bitmaps list

? Choose your Color Scheme followed by _STARTBUTTON_BMP (ex. REDSD_STARTBUTTON_BMP)

? Click then Right-click on resource 1033 and choose Replace Bitmap?

? Choose Open File With New Bitmap? and find the startbutton you wish to use

? Click the Replace button when you?re done with the last step and then go to File>Save As? and overwrite the file in: X:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\CNote: Some formatting was lost when quoting this that would be in the final versionng this that would be in the final version

The update is ready, all known bugs have been fixed. Download links in my first post. Enjoy guys, it's time for me to take a little break. :)

Update 3/26/03 - Fixed Blue and Green Shellstyles, start button changed to the one with 'Start' text, minor cosmetic fixes.

SWEET. Didn't know. Stupid me!

Anyway, about the update let me make a few comments to gigatexel:

The ergonomic theme for Classix (not SD) now has Grey colored highlights when the mouse moves over items in the start panel which is not the case in ClassixSD, nor WAS it the case before the update.

The 'All Programs' bug was fixed perfectly.

It is also my opinion that the Start Button is too far to the left. Try content margins of (-50, 75, 1, 1). I'm sure you'll like it better gigatexel.

I think deron is just trying to help out a little, but there has been a little too much "I don't like that Start button, you need to change it" type talk. *shrug* What can we expect, it's the "gimme gimme gimme" generation, or trend rather. Obviously we all like different things, but seriously folks (and this isn't directed towards you deron as you obviously know how to do this), if you want something changed enough, learn to do it on your own. It is honestly not that hard to do.

Oh yeah.

I'm not complaining or *TRYING* to be a nuissance, I'm in a way trying to give pointers to gigatexel for the further development of the theme. Not even saying change this or that but more or less trying to help with the values and placements of things on the theme. More or less what I'd call cosmetic bugs. I'm not saying change the startbutton it sucks mindlessly. I'm saying it appears to me that it needs to be moved a tad.

Just like with the All Programs background bug which I mentioned was still prevalent in the 3/25 release and gigatexel fixed it in the 3/26 release which I commended him for.

Overall, I appologize to those of you that are angered by my comments. I'm just trying to give helpful pointers to gigatexel. I'm not a lamer who is complaining and couldn't make the modifications myself. As a matter of fact: I already have. :D

Anyway, I guess it's not my place to poing out the bugs or what IMO are placement errors so I guess I should just keep my mouth shut and let gigatexel do the work himself. Obviously he's did a h3ll of a job so far :D. It's just that being a themer myself I see these things and try to voice them. However, I need to realize that this isn't my theme. Sorry for being a nuissance. My lips are now :x.

Deron I appreciate you pointing out issues that you believe need to be fixed but to some it might seem like you're nitpicking. You might also seem to be giving the impression that I have no idea what I'm doing, people have to keep in mind that with a theme as large as this there's bound to be an oversight here and there. Perfection is something I strive for but alas being human has its limitations. ;)

As for the start button, I like where it is that's why I put it there. :)

No need to apologize, I've always been open to comments and constructive criticism and that's exactly what you've given me.

Glad to see that I didn't offend you at least. I commend you on an excellent job on the classix style. It is a HUGE project, and unquestionably things can be overlooked fairly easily when you're working at such a wide scale. Luckily (I guess), I've never created a theme of such magnitude where I have had to include so many color schemes, etc. to make everyone happy. So I can't totally relate, but I can imagine how difficult it must be to keep track of every single pixel.

I LOVE the classix style and until you and saint dark come out with something better I'm sure I'll be using this.

Hopefully you nor anybody else gets the impression as you have pointed out that I believe that you don't know what you're doing. With a project of this magnitude there are bound to be little minute things that popup. When it goes final and there are no more MAJOR changes to be made I'm sure you'll make the updates so that every portion is completely bugless. It is OBVIOUS that you know what you're doing...I'm sure even that you know ALOT more than I do, so I HOPE nobody gets the impression that I'm some narcissist who thinks I'm better than you and that you are a low-level themer.

Great job and keep up the work.

I know I am not supposed to nitpick, and truthfully it doesn't bother me, but in the appearance - color window it has 'gray' but the file folder has it listed as 'grey' not sure if that was on purpose (some dialects spell it like that).

UPDATE - i checked it out and it isn't true anymore - /me goes back to dumb dumb seat

:p

^ i believe its in the works

I highly doubt it. Grey is the closest you're gonna get unless you make your own white.

BTW, I was wonderin' what you people use for a Phoenix/Mozilla theme for this VS.

    • RevPDF 4.5.0 by Razvan Serea RevPDF is a free, fully offline PDF editor for Windows, macOS, and Linux that lets you edit text and images directly inside PDF files — no internet connection, no account, and no cloud uploads required. Unlike bloated alternatives that demand subscriptions and constant connectivity, RevPDF fits in under 60MB on desktop while delivering a complete editing toolkit: annotate, redact, sign, compress, split, merge, convert, and reorganize pages, all processed locally on your device. Smart font matching ensures edited text blends seamlessly with the original, and multi-language support includes RTL scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew. Where most PDF editors force you to choose between features and simplicity, RevPDF manages both. You can build interactive forms from scratch with text fields, checkboxes, and dropdowns, permanently redact sensitive data before sharing, draw freehand on contracts and diagrams, and add custom watermarks — all without a single file leaving your machine. Edit Text and Images Directly Inside PDFs RevPDF supports true inline PDF editing — not just annotation layers on top of a document, but actual modification of existing text and images within the file. A smart font-matching engine identifies the font used in the original document and applies it automatically when you make edits, so changes blend naturally with the surrounding content. You can reposition elements, resize images, and update text across single pages or entire documents. RevPDF 4.5.0 release notes: This is one of the biggest updates to RevPDF yet. A lot of things people have been asking for are finally here. New Features Auto Redaction Permanently redact sensitive text and areas from your PDFs before sharing. Clean, irreversible, and fully offline. Comments, Links & Bookmarks Add comments for review, insert clickable links, and create bookmarks to jump around long documents without scrolling forever. Find & Replace Search across the whole document and replace text in one go. Long overdue. Split Pages Vertically or Horizontally Split any page down the middle, vertically or horizontally. Perfect for scanned books or double-page spreads. New Drawing Tools More tools for freehand drawing and markup, better for annotations, sketches, and detailed notes. Continuous Scrolling in Editor The editor now scrolls continuously through pages instead of jumping between them. Working through long documents is a lot smoother now. PDF Metadata Editor View and edit the metadata stored inside your PDFs, including title, author, subject, and keywords. Better Font Matching Text edits now blend in more naturally by doing a better job of matching the original font. Tabbed PDF Viewer Open multiple PDFs at once in tabs and switch between them without going back to the home screen. Add Links Insert hyperlinks anywhere in your PDF, to external URLs or to other pages within the document. Share & Print Shortcuts Share or print directly from the editing screen, home screen, and viewer. No extra steps. Minor Updates Paste images directly from clipboard into your PDF New image editing tools for more control over images inside documents Bug Fixes Fixed file saving issues on Windows and Linux Everything still works fully offline. No login, no cloud, no account. Your files stay on your device.
