It could be the company that ported it not optimizing it properly for OpenGL... and while in windows you use directX

rajputwarrior
So which router? I've had no trouble at all with Linksys and DD-WRT. honestly, its like EVERY ONE of them, when it comes to N routers. It'll randomly drop the connection or even worse, just drop the IP address but still remain connected to the router. I have a huge case going on with Apple (going on six months now...) and I have mentioned to them so many times that could they please just look on their boards cause its all over the place in the macbook discussion. Tiger had no issues, ever since leopard its been crap. The g routers i am having problems with are mainly D-Links. Nope, it's the drivers, ALL quake games use openGL yeah i thought i was wrong, cause i know carmack is all about openGL

I've got a Linksys WAG325N (the one that looks like a airport control tower) and it works perfectly with the three Mac's in my house - no matter where I reside. Have you checked whether there is a firmware update/upgrade for your router? have you checked the settings in the router? * Don't give me the "well it worked in 10.4.x" - because that comment carries no merit. D-Link is by far the worst networking company in terms of the quality of their routers, it's just garbage i honestly like d-link, i have had pretty good luck with them (except for my mac). I have checked firmware issues, checked for upgrades, call apple, check bit settings and channels everything. I am in IT so i know what to look for and how to fix issues like this. But nothing is working. It honestly does work in 10.4. I boot up my tiger disk, connect using that. NO PROBLEMS whatsoever. I throw in the leopard install disk, horrible issues. I honestly think its just the gen of my macbook (late 2006). And how you think the comment of "well it worked in 10.4.x" carries no merit is beyond me, because it's 100 percent true. Here is a VERY big thread about it on apple and there are a crapload of little ones too... http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?t...1&tstart=15 I don't know what Apple did, but they have to undo it... giga Veteran Posted August 19, 2008 Veteran Share Posted August 19, 2008 The solution: get a Linksys and load it with DD-WRT or Tomato. Seriously--I've had two d-links. My best bud has a d-link. Nothing but trouble--as you've already illustrated.

And i know it's not a router issue, it's the stupid card, i have had trouble connecting to Linksys routers too.

D-Link routers suck, they always have and always will - your 'love affair' with them doesn't change the fact. N is an unfinished standard so there *MIGHT* be some issues; the most I connect to my N router at is 130mbps; and you know what? I don't care! I get on with life, surfing for porn and reading Neowin. It isn't the end of the world. If you think you can do it better - by all means, put your name forward at Apple as a programmer, or are you yet another Arm Chair Programming Expert ? I have the D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router, I never had any problem with it. My connection speed is 270mbps. Never had any drop in speed or lost signal. Using it with my PC and Macbook. I'll second that, I've setup 5 networks for friends (and myself) using the 655 without any issues, all are enjoying 802.11N from their MacBook/MacBook Pro/iMac without any issues what so ever... I personally range around the same numbers with mine. Cara, do you have any info when 10.5.5 will be release? Thanks! Honestly I know when they say they will release it, however, 9 times out of 10 it's out and public before I know about it. She probably either doesn't know, or cannot reveal it. Cara Veteran Posted August 21, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted August 21, 2008 Was wondering if there was any interest in my also posting the 10.5.x Server Seed Notes in the future?
PyX
Hmmm maybe you should edit the topic and make it a poll. I, for one, am not really looking at Server, but if there are major changes it's still a good thing to know them. In the latest build of 10.5.5, you say "Safari is now snappier" :| Does it mean a new version like 3.2 or 3.1 with Webkit or it was a joke? :p
