Lost - Season 5

Richard doesn't know about time travel. Or at least when Locke brought it up, Alpert looked very confused about what Locke was saying. I don't think that is it.

....

But I don't buy that Alpert has been time traveling, not with the confused look on his face when Locke mentioned he was from the future.

Looked more like a surprised look (followed by laughter) that Locke knew about the secrets of the Island. Richard being immortal is just too easy of an explanation. I think the writers are trying make it look like hes immortal for now, but will soon explain his role in the coming episodes. Considering, Darlton apparently renting a 500 year old ship, possibily explaning the adventures on the Black Rock before and after it got on the Island. (source)

Unless, Alpert is dead like Rosso's crew was killed, and he is only a clone, just like Cristian Shepard is dead and only a clone that speaks for Jacob...

He's not dead. There would be no need for him to carry a gun at all if that were the case.

Well, I did state that I don't think Alpert is immortal: "Of course he's immortal and I don't believe that Alpert is."

Sawyer's remark about there being a subway down the well was funny

Anyone else find it obvious a flash was going to occur with Locke halfway down and the well disappearing?

Future Daniel (after Charlotte's death) goes back to Dharma time at some point, so I'm assuming there's a fair few flashes left still, although I don't know why he told Charlotte those things while she was a child, when he knows he can't change the past?

Video Podcast (Jeremy Davies talks about his parallel interests to his character, Faraday.)

Podcast

* They're writing the finale right now.

* The 'temple' seen in 'This Place is Death' is "not necessarily the temple" and isn't where the smoke monster lives but rather his 'Camp David'. Will they be returning to that location? - "Damn straight".

* Whatever happened to Rousseau's team under the ground with monster 'altered' them. And not for the better. But there's a question about 'who went wacky first'.

* Damon and Carlton wrote the scripts for '316' and 'The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham' simultaneously and the reason the episodes were switched will become apparent once they're seen. Darlton thought it would be 'cooler' to show the original 5.07 first. This has only happened once before in the history of the show and they challenge fans to guess when, noting that it was 'way back in season one'.

* There is some information in '316' that is better to see before 'The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham'. Carlton: "I would assume we're going to find out how Locke ended up in that coffin". Damon: "Can't wait".

Questions:

Which successful cast member of Lost would you like to see become a successful cast member of 'Dancing with the Stars'?

Jorge (Hurley)

In the episode 'Jughead', when Desmond finds Theresa, is she in the same kind of 'time trance' as Eloise the rat or Minkowski?

That's a very perceptive observation. (Also hints that Theresa will appear again)

Is resurrection 'of a sort' possible for Christian? Is he something more than an image the island is using to communicate?

In '316' someone will talk about Locke's body in relation to Christian's. The word 'proxy' might be mentioned.

And thanks to The ODI for these additions.

that what we saw was ONLY the outer wall of the temple, not the temple itself...and there is little walk to the temple..

also a few of the jokes at the end had one tidbit included about juliet and ben

When answering fan questions:

13) They joke about Sun's dog because of a fan question.

14) We will hopefully learn before the show ends what "you look like her" meant during Juliet's Season 4 therapy session with Harper.

15) Joke that Season 5 is "Zombie Season" indeed

Future Daniel (after Charlotte's death) goes back to Dharma time at some point, so I'm assuming there's a fair few flashes left still,

Probably not. I think after Locke put the wheel back in its original place - the Island stopped at the 1970s timeline. Ignore the following spoiler, if you don't want to know...

From the spoilers revealed, we find Miles, Sawyer, etc in Dharma clothes. So, one can only assume they are stuck in the 1970s. We also see Jack and co. in Dharma clothes, so they arrive at the Island in its past - 1970s while DI was still on the Island.

although I don't know why he told Charlotte those things while she was a child, when he knows he can't change the past?

Plays in with the Fate vs Free Will theme.

Being stuck in the 1970's does indeed make sense!

Finally got a chance to watch this episode with my wife. It was fantastic.

Ben had to tell Locke in last season's finale that he always has a plan, and we're seeing more and more how true that is. Him turning the wheel instead of John plays quite nicely in his favor. He knows far more than what we've seen, and I think we will see that this was probably his plan all along (turning the wheel instead of Locke so that he isn't an outcast or outsider when he inevitably returns, and also to get revenge for Alex).

Man, I just can't get enough of this. So far this has been top notch for Lost, and we're not even hitting the heavy stuff yet

ok. Its Jin.

They are taking back dead characters, why not take back Mr. Eko?.

Remember him, right?

I dont think Eko will be back, maybe in flashbacks, but not on the island, we dont know how the island brings the dead back to life but assuming it is reincarnation or reanimation then i dont think the island wants to reanimate Eko seen as the Smoke monster killed him its safe to say the island wants him dead, it didnt kill Locke which is why it might allow him to be come back to life.

Don't reason with him, he always just comes into the thread and says stupid stuff about the show.

What if Ben killed Locke outside the Island, took the Jin's ring and give it to Sun?

That may have happened, but Richard told Locke that he'd have to die. We don't know if he committed suicide, someone purposely killed him or if Locke allowed someone to kill him, but either way, he's going to die/is already dead :p

Looks like Ben is the one who did then. :p

Smokey might kill him, just pitching out possibilities.

I don't see how thats possible. He dies off island.

Interesting bit of trivia from lostpedia:

This is the first episode of the entire series in which Ben and Desmond speak to each other. They had previously only been in one scene together, at the cockpit wreckage in "The Beginning of the End."

    • UK to ban under-16s from social media following a six-week trial with teenagers by Paul Hill Credit: Pexels A few months ago, Neowin reported that the UK was trialing a social media ban with 300 teenagers for six weeks, that testing has come to an end, and Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that the country will ban under-16s from social media. Starmer said that this technology is making children unhappy and making it easier for bullies to harass and abuse them. He continued to talk about the addictive nature of social media, saying that it uses an infinite scroll designed to lock users in for hours. He said this interferes with children doing their homework, reading, playing with friends outside, and going to bed on time. Tackling the idea that nothing can be done about social media, Starmer said: The government’s action won’t stop at social media either, the PM said. It plans to take action on gaming services and livestreaming platforms. Right now, he said, strangers can contact any child unchecked. He said this wouldn’t happen in real life, and the government is going to stop it from happening online, too. The Labour government has overseen the introduction of the Online Safety Act, a big change to the internet which includes age verification on adult websites. This has led to a fair bit of backlash, but overall, the government is pushing ahead with these changes.

    • I'll wait for the root cause analysis. Looks like it's HP, Lenova, and certain configurations that are askew, hardly "all of windows." Time will tell.
