Lost - Season 5

Recommended Posts

Good episode. I don't like the time travel stuff, majorly turned off. It just gives them an excuse to keep pulling rabbits out a hat.

I'd prefer to find out more about the ruins and the giant foot. My guess is the island was some kind of ancient spirital ground and smokey is the spirit of whatever it was they worshipped.

Now that they're back on the island, we should be seeing far less time traveling and getting more information on Dharma, the island, and the natives.

Valenzetti built the station do you think?, she didn't seem to care about Faraday

No. Valenzetti was never a person on Lost, just a reference to his equation. As to who actually built it, my first inkling would be Widmore. But then the question becomes 'why didn't he go back?'

Yeah, she basically ignored what Desmond said. But it could very well be that she knew he would say it.

Remember, she met Daniel in the past, so she knows what was going on.

wonder if those people in the boat a few eps back were survivors from the flight...if it goes down of course!!! arrrghhh!

Of course they were. The question is who was in the boat. With Kate, Jack, and Hurley back in the past, that leaves Sayid, Ben, Sun, Lapidus. Since the outriggers happened in 2008, seemingly, that would make sense.

Looks more like somebody beat the crap out of him.

Gotta be Desmond or Penny. I can't see any other explanation.

Maybe he killed Penny and Desmond managed to hurt him, but not kill him.

If Penny is dead, I bet we see Desmond come back to the island as well, even if he wasn't on 316.

BTW Hurley buying all the seats was pure awesome.

As I predicted; US Army and DI are related as seen from the photograph in the Lamp Post.

All that proves is that the Army got to the island in 1954, which we knew already. Notice the date too, September 23, 1954. I don't think it links the DI and US Army any more than it means someone in the DI can get their hands on classified pictures.

I?m guessing my other theory on the time issue still stands, if not proven already.

Since we see Jin already in his jumpsuit, we can assume he spent quite some time already with the Dharma Initiative, possibly those 3 years which correlates with O6?s three years off the Island.

Anyways, another awesome epis:De :D

No, I don't think they ever end up living those three years. They jump back to the DI time period and go from there. Just because three years passed off-island (05 to 08) doesn't mean that three years had to pass on island with all the time jumps. Live a portion of them, sure, but I would say more like 2-3 months rather than 3 years.

So, I'm thinking there will be some flash forwards for the two new characters and how they ended up in first class. Perhaps, one/both of them either work for Widmore or the Economist.

I would say Widmore. Someone who wasn't Ben convinced Sun, Sayid, and Hurley to be on the plane. Probably also took Aaron. The only person we know with those kind of resources is Widmore. "The Economist" (as a person) is unimportant to the plot of the show.

Anyone figure out who's with Locke while committing suicide from that preview? Doesn't look like Sayid and obviously not Jack. Maybe its Mr. Eko?

I thought it was Ben from the preview, but I have only watched it once.

Man oh man. Great episode, with some intentional holes left for another time. Who convinced Hurley and Sayid to go back to the island? Who beat the crap out of Ben?

Gotta be Widmore that convinced them to go back. Desmond and Ben must have fought, or he got all those injuries while killing Penny.

Why is Sayid being escorted by an Air Marshall?

Does Hurley find out that Ben is the one who got him cleared of the murder charges?

Because they needed one on the flight to recreate things.

Probably not. Its not important.

Is the guy in first class, who gave Jack his condolences, working for Whidmore?

Seemed like it.

Where's Aaron and what happened to him?

Only thing I can think of is that Widmore took him.

How does Ms. Hawings know so much about Dharma, the island, and the crucial details needed in getting back?

And of course, how did she know how and when to communicate with Desmond when he experienced his flashes to the past?

If she turns on to be on the island in the time of the DI, then it stands to reason that Faraday could have given her all kinds of information about the island.

I'm thinking Sayid beat Ben up and that Kate gave Aaron to Claire's mom, revealing part of the truth of what happened.

Possibly it was Sayid, but I would think Sayid would have killed him.

Why would she be so upset then? I would think that would be a good place for him to go if she wanted to go back to the island.

I think Ben killed Whitmore.....

I also think they went back in time because of the variation.... Ms Hawking said the less accurate the replication.... the more likely the outcome becomes unpredictable...

Ben can't kill Widmore. They said as much to each other.

Lostpedia said Lamp Post could be a reference to Narnia...which I never thought of.

Nah, just because its called a lamp post and there is one in TLTW&TW, its a reference? I don't buy it.

Its called 'The Lamp Post' because it lights the way for them to go.

Because they needed one on the flight to recreate things.

Right, but I was pushing beyond the appearance and pondering if it's legit or a sham. Probably a sham, and is the woman on the plane tied to anyone? Seeing as how this is Lost, it wouldn't be a shocker to see that she's working for Ben.

Why would she be so upset then? I would think that would be a good place for him to go if she wanted to go back to the island.

Possibly because she'd never see him again after being his mom for three years, but to never mention him again? I can't see that being the case.

Oh thats very possible. As he had 'lost' Sayid, he would need another way to get him back.

Right, but if she was giving him to Carole, she would have explained that to Jack, no?

Right, but if she was giving him to Carole, she would have explained that to Jack, no?

Most likely. She seemed distraught, and the possibility that she simply gave Aaron away to his grandmother doesn't seem like it would have as devastating of an impact as she portrayed, but it's still possible. We'll find out eventually since Claire is going to want to know.

Another possibility is that she found out who was going to adopt him and gave him to them, and is, like the above scenario, grieving over never being able to see him again.

It's all speculation at this point, but I'm confident that we'll know something by the end of the series, hopefully by the end of this season.

Another great episode! Wonder who built the Lamp Post station, maybe it was the first Dharma station? Next week's episode should rock

I am thinking it was because they built that before they found the island.

I am thinking it was because they built that before they found the island.

Not necessarily true. They might have been on the island before and needed an easy way to get back, and thus the Lamp-Post was built.

Obviously with the links from the Hanso family between DHARMA and the Black Rock, they knew about it, and were on it, before the Lamp-Post was built.

They needed to reenact the crash, so....

  • Sayid was "Kate", being a criminal.
  • Kate may be pregnant, so shes being "clare"
  • Jack's jack
  • Hugo is being "Charlie" with the guitar.
  • Sun, is sun

Now thats only "5", as Arron is missing.

Locke was Christian as well.

I think Charlie told Hurley about flight 316, hence the guitar.

Liked how the white tennis shoes were mentioned again.

Wonder if Ben lived the "crash", surely if they're in the 1970s, eventually there will be a paradox with younger Ben

It was only Jack when he was checking in, but I'm referring to when the man walked onto the plane. Sayid was on the front row and would be able to see everyone that boarded, including this unknown man that shared the first class area with them.

May be it wasn't that important. None of the 06 really talked once they got on the plane.

ood episode but i wanted something more to happen. and does jin work for darhma now?

all of them will be

not if kate is pregnant(?). aaron was never out of the womb on the first flight...

No one said anything regarding that.

Ben might not have been born yet (So not necessarily the 70s)?
Ben Linus was born on December 19 in the early 1960s,

May be it wasn't that important. None of the 06 really talked once they got on the plane.

I think it would have been pretty important to Sayid if this was a guy he was in Iraq with, which was the discussion all along. So the conclusion is, this wasn't a man from Sayid's past.

    • I really wonder if this has to do with the built in VPN or "private DNS" of browsers that trip up legal requirements like cookie consent and Cloudflare (to avoid all the botnet attacks we get). And BTW some botnets still manage to get past Cloudflare, we are constantly having to tweak it to block malicious traffic that ultimately cause a DDoS.
