Lost - Season 5

Oh I see what you mean. I just made the assumption because they were on the boat when Penny said they should go.

I think another reason to assume it's Penny though, is Ben doesn't usually get his own hands dirty (much prefers manipulating other people to do his dirty work). But with Penny I'd imagine he'd want to do it himself.

I think what Ellie meant by saying, "the Island is always moving, then subsequently saying, “that’s why no one could rescue you” was because of Desmond.

As Desmond/Kevin/Radzinsky kept pushing the button every 108 minutes, it caused these ‘movements’. After Desmond stopped, the 815 crashed, after he resumed and the Losties resumed pushing the button, they were continuing the movement of the Island.

Once Desmond blew up the Swan, I believe Ellie or Widmore used the Lamppost to send in the freighter and Penny used another electromagnetic area either in North or South pole to send in her boat, which came much later than the freighter. At the same time, Desmond started seeing the flashes and eventually the arrival of Naomi and the freighter.

So, the Swan was responsible for the Island always moving. Evidently, after its destruction that all these rescues started happening.

I think it was the other way round that the island was constantly shifting, the army found the island but they couldnt get back there because the island constantly shifted so Dharma/Hanso built the Lamppost to find the island, Dharma found why the island was moving so they set up the Swan station to discharge whatever force that made the island shift constantly which means they could send in food drops.

Then when the Swan imploded it knocked out the islands ability to shift around which is why the freighter was able to find it, then when Ben used the donkey wheel it kickstarted not only the islands ability to move physically but also in time because of all the pent up force not being discharged by the Swan.

Or not, just a thought.

I was thinking along the lines of this as well. Maybe not so much the island time traveling because it didn't discharge, but that the button kept it from moving. Still though, the button was something, so perhaps it was needed as a result of the incident. Can't wait to find out :D

I've always thought the Swan stopped the island from moving.

I don't think that was necessary, however. The Others could still come and go after the Swan was destroyed, so they didn't need the Swan and the button, whatever it did.

Also, Richard Alpert was shown off the island before the Swan was built, so he obviously had a way back without the Swan.

quick question, what we saw in via domus was that the incident? or was that just canon?

Canon. Everything in that game was a canon

Anyone think after the final series they'll have a few "clean up" episodes which whizz through the series and show us how things linked to the final conclusion?

I doubt it. Season 6 Episode 17 is going to be the last Lost episode ever.

Right, but again, sailing that far in one day is not possible. Unless I'm misundestanding the timeline presented, that's what they would have had to do.

I'm not sure what you mean. We know Desmond (and certainly Penny) was in LA the night before, so they would probably still be at a pier in LA the next morning... Ben made the phone call from that pier, presumably right after a confrontation with Des/Penny.

Nice theory, I wrote something similar, i.e the Island always moved even without the Swan (Post #1317). However, I dislike the notion that the US Army just stumbled upon the Island. Oh well. Here are some things to support your theory:

  • US Army used the submarine to test/transport the nuke, and "stumbled upon" that special coordinate to come in/out of the Island's snow-globe field.
  • After they all died in 1954, Richard Alpert and the Others started using the submarine to come and go from the Island with that special coordinate already logged in the submarine.

I guess we need more hints as to which way to go. Both theories seem plausible.

The night before what? The shot with Ben at the pier? Yes.

But the day before that night he was shown to be in England, because he visited Oxford and Charles Widmore. Unless, like I said, that happened at a different time, but the way it was presented seemed to be like it was supposed to be occuring during the 70 hour window.

Actually, Via Domus is not considered to be completely canon.

They didn't say which parts are and which aren't, but some can be easily pointed out (Others in the jungle shooting at you randomly, for example).

I dont want to go back and watch them again but is there any proof that only 1 day had passed, you know how the writers like to show disjointed timelines.

Loving the sig Richard :p

Haha thanks.

Wait a minute, Desmond was with them at that church in LA, talking to Hawkings, which was the night before Ben making the phone call.

Just watched another version of the trailer for next week's episode here and just wondering, the girl who says to Locke "I don't remember you being on the plane" looks like the Marshall in charge of Sayid when the O6 are returning to the island. Does this mean that the plane actually did crash on the island that they used to get back, that their a whole new lot of survivors that they have to show and waste time with?

    • Windows 11 KB5094126 BSODing, freezing, forcing BitLocker lockout, breaks OneDrive, and more by Sayan Sen Microsoft released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 last week as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. While Microsoft has so far not acknowledged any major problems with the release, some users online are running into problems. These range from OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, BitLocker recovery lockouts, to blue screens and BSODs. The most common one seems to be happening with HP systems wherein affected users say they hit 0xc0430001 BSOD (blue screen of death) error code after the KB5094126 update. We wonder if this could be related to the recent bug we covered on HP devices wherein the ongoing Secure Boot certificate updates are leading to similar issues. While we are not certain, users affected by this issue likely need to ensure that the boot.stl file is included on the installation media (such as a USB installer or ISO), if the above-mentioned dynamic updates are deployed. If this file is missing, computers may fail to boot from the installation media and could display the error 0xc0430001. This STL file is used by Secure Boot to verify that the boot files are trusted, so it must match the same Windows version and system architecture. To ensure the file is included, Microsoft recommends using the Update WinPE script, which automatically updates the image and handles the required files. Alternatively, you can manually copy the boot.stl file from the Windows\Boot\EFI folder on a Windows device and place it in the matching folder on your installation media before deploying the updated image. Aside from blue screening some users also note their systems have been freezing following the update. In the case of the OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, a user figured out that there could be a conflict with UAC. He explained: "Okay, so I did some digging, and in our environment KB5094126 breaks OneDrive and Dropbox in Explorer. I went through all our GPOs and found out that the combination of disabling UAC and having my user being a local admin breaks OneDrive in Explorer. ... If I enable UAC again, then it works, even with KB5094126 still installed." Hopefully, Microsoft will look into these issues. • It is when it's a desktop in my house though for a PC that's lightly used and not really important when it is. If it was a laptop, it would be a different story. The real solution is varied and begins starting at post #22 in that thread.
