Lost - Season 5

Recommended Posts

They can't change the timeline. Not on Lost.

Who is 'setting the tune'? The island.

As far as using time travel as a vehicle ... how is it any different than flashbacks/flash forwards? They could have introduced some character and done a flashback for 1974-1977 for him. But we know how fans hate new characters introduced into the middle of everything (Nikki and Paulo), so why not send the beloved characters to experience the story with us?

Anyone else think this time travel take the romance/excitement out of the show a bit? I mean, you could argue that the whole "Locke, you have work to do" or the survivors have to do this or the world ends as being total BS because it doesn't matter what you do, the universe will just course correct itself, right? So why even do anything?

Yeah its wierd Season 5 has been a MASSIVE step up in terms of quality and exciting storylines but this whole time shifting malarky has left me a bit dissapointed, it might be a bit hippocritical of me but i prefered when things were shrouded in mystery and we were leaked bits of information left me starving for more.

I hope we dont get overloaded with all this stuff like time travel considering there is only a season and a half to go.

Well we are nearing the end of the series, naturally we'll start getting more answers than questions. They spent quite a while raising new mysteries and questions, so at this point, there's only so much more mystery than can throw at us without having answers.

I agree but up until S4 they didnt have an endgame as to how many seasons there were gonna be, now they have the end date they dont need to trickle the information to us anymore but with only a season and a half to go it feels like they are cramming in as much information as they can.

I love Lost but its losing its appeal a bit, the whole reason i got into it was the mystery and the intrigue now im getting a flood of information and we arent even halfway into s5.

I think we only think we are getting more questions, then answers, but really, its not.

also,

anyone else thinks the LOST untangled is extremely annoying? Yes, its funny at times, but I wish they can just do with the recaps. It seems they are making fun of lost rather then telling the recap.

People crack me up! Some of you complained that Lost was horrible, it would never give us answers, etc. Now that the show is finally doing this as it approaches the end of the series, and you guys are complaining that Lost has lost (no pun intended) its appeal, cause they are now giving us too many answers! There's still many mysteries to be revealed! The statue for instance. Why pregnant women used to be able to give birth and live. What was the Incident? Supposedly we're going to learn about that soon in the upcoming Ben episodes. Why doesn't Richard age? Why did he want Paul's dead body? Who is Jacob? Why did Harper say to Juliet that you look just like her? Those are just some off the top of my head. I could come up with more if I really sat and thought about it. What the numbers are, which if you read online you already know all about the Valenzetti equation.

Just enjoy the show and complain when it's over, cause people didn't write it the way you would've. People on the internet are never happy! I bet you all change your minds after the next couple episodes. The time travel aspect is brilliant and it's been with Lost since the beginning of the show. The creators said all along that it wasn't about where they were, but when they were.

Okay with this two week break i thought i would watch the previous epidsodes again. Now i watched episode. one and thats when it him me, not sure if its already been mentioned but here is what i reckon.

One way or another the survivors have to get back to "present time". Also we see Daniel working at the orchid and he is told about time travel in the first episode. Im guessing someone will end up turning the donkey wheel again.

Also Widmore mentioned a war was coming im guessing he was referring to the Mass Extinction caused by Ben when he took over as leader.

The wheel being turned again is a good theory since Widmore said Ben tricked him into turning it, but timing is key here since Ben is still with Dharma in 1977 and doesn't commit the purge until 1992. We don't know when Ben convinces Widmore to turn the wheel, but I doubt it'll be many years later.

As for the war, the purge wasn't a war, it's more like an execution.

That was aimed at me seen as i was the only person that said it has lost its appeal recently, you dont know me, i never complained that they never gave me answers i actually said i prefered it when they trickled information to me the mystery and the intrigue is what made me watch the show. Now they have an end date they dont need to trickle any information not knowing how long they would have to make it last, now there is a flood of information being blasted at me and i just think its losing a bit of what made it special in the first season. Nowhere in any of my posts did i say Lost was horrible quite the contrary its probably the only tv show thats on at the moment that makes me excited when i go to bed the day before because the next morning i will wake up early just to watch it (sad i know).

It was only aimed at you if you're one of those people that put it down and say something now that's contradictory to the way you felt in the past. Lost is obviously a very intricate show. Extremely hard to write and keep track of all the craziness. I just hate when people complain they aren't giving us enough answers, and now that's turned into whoa, whoa, slow it down, no need to rush answers. Lost has always been like a book. It has a beginning, middle, and end. It's approaching the end, so now we'll get to learn a lot of things about the island. I don't see that as a bad thing. There's still plenty of mystery involved. Keep watching, and I bet your opinion changes by the time Season 5 is over with.

What I don't understand:

Danielle Rousseau met Jin when she arrived on the island. She did not recognize him when they crash landed. Granted its 16 years old, but still, you wouldn't forget a washed up person on a random island.

...what makes more sense, in a senseless way, is Richard followed Lockes life and made sure he was on the flight that would crash onto the island, because he met Locke on the island 50 years before. Which makes a full circle. However what this means to me is that Richard made sure all the crash survivors made it to the island for a reason which would be meeting them in the past.

Tbh Richard looks confused with what's going on and all we know is that widmore got Locke onto the island not Richard. Richard was in the hospital to check if Locke was real. Saying that... Does widmore work for and answer to Richard? Along side ben which is why they have a rivally? One person on the island at a time maybe...

It wasn't only at the hospital that Richard came to see Locke, however.

Because, on AI it is Results show with Kanye West and Kelly Clarkson...

I wonder if that made Lost producers like "Avoid American Idol like Plague"...

So not really?

Seriously, why the hell don't Lost move to 8pm instead?

If they wanted to avoid Idol, they would have aired it this week and moved everything up. The later season shows of AI are the ones that they would want to avoid, not the early season ones.

They don't move it to 8pm because it isnt suited to be the 'early' show on a network.

But now, inside sources spill that a major character death is coming?and that the person who is leaving the show was not the first to know.

So, could it be Evie? If not, who is it?

Here's what I can tell you about this death:

* A current series regular is getting killed before the end of season five.

* The character who will die is someone who is much-loved by many of you fans.

* This is a real leaving-the-show death, ? la Shannon or Charlie, not a quick-fix time-travel death like Jeremy Bentham/John Locke.

* The character getting killed off is not, I repeat, not Evie's character Kate Austen.

And a source close to the show tells me that the person who's being killed off just learned of their character's fate late last week, and the news hit hard. "Unfortunately, [he or she] found out after the script treatments were sent out to some of the crew on the set," says my source. "So it wasn't the best timing."

As for the timing of when this death will happen onscreen, I can only tell you that while the character's end is still a ways out, it will go down this season.

Who will it be?

I certainly cannot tell, and surely you do not want to know, because in usual kickass Lost fashion, you know that how it plays out will be surprising and awesome and jaw-dropping. You can, of course, post your guesses in the comments.

Lost returns with an all-new ep, "Namaste," next Wednesday at 9 p.m.

    • A few weeks ago, I had this same exact issue. Unfortunately, I didn't think of disabling the Secure Boot option in BIOS. I updated my BIOS to the latest version for my MB and it resolved the issue.
    • I have a partial answer, when I used a multi-port usb hub I had degraded speed performance with 3 large external hard drives connected. I managed to snag a nice (yet older) USB3 wavelink hub that had about x6 usb 3 ports and almost doubled the speed of the external hard drives transfer rate. This looks to be a slightly upgraded model -https://ebay.io/m/LZtjTy
    • Microsoft faces shareholder lawsuit over masking AI costs and slowing Azure growth by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft is facing a class action lawsuit from shareholders who allege that the company intentionally overhyped its artificial intelligence initiatives to distract from slowing cloud revenue and an exploding infrastructure bill. The complaint was filed in a Seattle federal court by the Michigan-based City of St. Clair Shores Police and Fire Retirement System. The plaintiffs argue that Microsoft’s leadership painted an overly optimistic picture of its Copilot rollout and complex OpenAI partnership. They say that the company did this while downplaying the harsh reality that building the data centers required to power these next-generation tools requires a huge amount of capital. Back at the company's Q2 2026 earnings report from late January, Microsoft revealed that its flagship Azure cloud growth had slipped to 39% (down from 40% the prior quarter) and guided investors to expect a further deceleration to 37% or 38% for the first three months of 2026. Now, under normal circumstances, a slight percentage point drop in cloud growth is a minor operational hiccup. But the Redmond giant paired that guidance with $37.5 billion in quarterly capital expenditures. This figure, which is a 66% year-over-year surge, blew past any analyst estimates at that time. Much of this amount went into buying high-priced GPUs and custom silicon that were required to train and run large language models. This is why the market reacted violently and just a day after its earnings call on January 29, the company's stock plummeted 10%, and wiped out $357 billion of capital in just a trading session. Microsoft is doing better now, though. Its Q3 2026 results showed its run rate from its AI business was hitting $37 billion, proving that enterprise demand for its infrastructure is very real and continuing to scale. Microsoft isn't the only company pouring billions into infrastructure for the AI boom. We've seen most Big Tech companies, including Amazon and Google, also get the results of these **** with stronger-than-ever growth and increased income. via Reuters
