Lost - Season 5

Recommended Posts

Wow, just saw the promo for next weeks, I thought last weeks promo was awesome!

Hurley: " There's a body bag here with a body in it" -

From the spoiler, does this mean that Miles knows about Pierre and could even be his like son? And very odd about Miles being able to see dead people...

Anyways, great episode. I was quite surprised about finding out Ben not doing his dirty work and just getting owned by Desmond. Ilana must be working for Widmore, because clearly by the way she doesn't behave like someone who just came out of a plane crash by wacking Frank with a gun. And by that picture posted by Rappy, couldn't Jacob be like a descendent of Anubis or something, and working for him to benefit the island?

"In the shadow of the statue". That obviously refers to the Temple. So she knows about the island and what to expect there. Now the question is how many of the other crash survivors are with her. Ceaser obviously wasn't one of them and when he got shot by Ben was so unexpected as I thought Ben would use him to keep John away from him.

Yep. Right on about Anubis. Also, this stuff gets way deeper if you read through all the different Wikipedia articles. I found some links on DARKUFO that explains so much about the mythology behind Lost. For example, ever wonder why it's called Oceanic Airlines? Read this! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Island#Oceanic_islands And remember that thing Illana said, "what lies in the shadow of the statue?" You might understand that more if you read this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egyptian_soul

Also, ever wonder what the smoke monster is? It could be one or both of these things. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammit or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apep

Also, this week's episode is called "Some Like It Hoth." A reference to Star Wars? Most definitely considering the creators are huge Star Wars geeks, but if you look deeper you'll find this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thoth

And could this be the island? Guess what it means! Underworld. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duat

Remember how Christian said you have a long journey ahead of you? Could he be talking about the journey to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaru

Doesn't this sound like a bald, suddenly alive character on the show? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osiris

It's pretty wild stuff!!

It's just weird summoning the monster like that, and somehow younger Ben reminds me of Hitler, the hair I guess.

I thought the exact same thing. He looked like Hitler without the stache... i wonder if they meant to do that?

looks more like Anubis summoning smokey

theory time: Always prepared my theory for when one of my three gods was revealed and I was right on the money, this isn't my offical theory but putting it out there... Jacob takes orders from Anubis who controls smokey and therefor controls who lives and dies. we have seen alex back from the dead, Ekos brother among many other people and Locke is alive again which means that he is back from the underworld thanks to smokey/Anubis

Ben seemed to know about smokeys mind tricks? seen it before possibly?

Wow, excellent episode! what did Alex tell to Ben right after she grabbed him? I know you planning to kill John's kid?

The 316's aren't just passengers, maybe new attempt by Charles Widmore to get the island? they clearly know more, or maybe they are Dharma.

The glyph showed Smokey appearing before Anubis, is Ben supposed to be Anubis?

Time theories... ok we assume what happened happened right? but now I'm thinking... maybe not so much.

Remember when Daniel went to Hatch Desmond and told him to find his mother? supposedly this is a memory that Desmond should have had already but it popped up in Desmond head out of no where...

I think that while the losties were moving through time, the Island was in the present, so when Daniel told Desmond, the memory got created instantly in Desmond's head, get what I mean? I think what happened happened is just preparation for a twist.

She said "kill John again."

The rules don't apply to Desmond, which is why Daniel was able to pass along that message. For everyone else, whatever happens, happens. They're not going to purposely create paradoxes.

In the bottom row of figures, middle figure looks like this:

Also the third from the left, the one with the pole/spear seems to be:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thoth

On the far right, there is Horus' eye (Horace Goodspeed?)

One last thing, when we see the statue intact, from the back I think it looks more like Mafdet than Anubis because of the smaller ears. Mafdet was the goddess of justice and execution...

Just some random thoughts and observations. :p

Some more finale snippets...

- We will be seeing a 3rd Eloise Hawking. This time played by Alice Evans who will between the ages of the young and old Ellie.

Ellie:

ELLIE%20LOST.jpg

Could Hawkings be her? What year were the losties in? 1954?

Last nights was very good. I'm glad ben didn't kill penny.

I think so, ever since that episode aired it seem pretty obvious that it was her.

From Lostpedia:

Ellie is a shortened version of Eloise.

Daniel told her that she looked familiar.

Ellie is the right age, height and nationality to be Eloise.

She became intrigued when Daniel let it slip that they were time travelers.

Ellie and Charles appear to be close in age on the island in 1954, likewise Eloise Hawking and Charles Widmore appear to be the same age in the present time.

Ellie and Eloise Hawking both have blue eyes. They both wear their hair in somewhat similar styles.

The connection between Eloise Hawking and Charles Widmore could be a continuation of the connection between Ellie and Widmore over time since 1954.

At The Lamp Post station with the swinging pendulum that determines the location of the island there is a photo of the island with the text "September 23, 1954 - U.S. Army - OP 264 - Top Secret - Eyes Only." As Eloise is in charge of the station, it's possible she came into possession of the photograph in 1954 when Ellie was involved in the killing of the US soldiers who brought the hydrogen bomb to the island.

Oooh... read this (skip to the Conflict between Horus and Set if you are impatient). It is like Horace is well, Horus, and Richard Alpert is Set. See then Geb as referenced in the section:

It has also been suggested that the myth may reflect historical events. According to the Shabaka Stone, Geb divided Egypt into two halves, giving Upper Egypt (the desert south) to Set and Lower Egypt (the region of the delta in the north) to Horus, in order to end their feud.

If you go to Geb's page, you see some interesting alternate pronunciations of his name that if you stand on one leg and turn your head thus, could maybe sound like "Jacob"...

Ok, I'm getting obsessed.... :p

Wait, so Ellie is Daniel's mom? I was thinking she would be Penny's mom - or is she mom to both?

That's pretty far out there but not completely impossible

    • Hello, It would appear so, according to https://finance.yahoo.com/news/how-to-hide-your-home-on-google-maps-apple-maps-204146687.html. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • Hello, The Nvidia Founders Edition 3080 video card is approximately six years old, correct? Have you looked into whether replacement fans are available for it? Perhaps replacing those will improve cooling, especially when combined with cleaning the card's heatsink and replacing the thermal interface materials. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • Hello, While ~104 GB of space may seem generous (at least compared to other e-readers which have 8-32GB), I feel at this price point the device should have a Micro SDXC card slot for expansion, particularly if it allows audio books to be installed and played. I hope to see more reviews of 6" phone-sized e-readers on Neowin in the future. It will be interesting to see how they compare. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • Sandboxie Plus 1.17.8 / Classic 5.72.8 by Razvan Serea Run programs in a sandbox to prevent malware from making permanent changes to your PC. Sandboxie allows you to run your browser, or any other program, so that all changes that result from the usage are kept in a sandbox environment, which can then be deleted later. Sandboxie is a sandbox-based isolation software for 32- and 64-bit Windows NT-based operating systems. It is being developed by David Xanatos since it became open source, before that it was developed by Sophos (which acquired it from Invincea, which acquired it earlier from the original author Ronen Tzur). It creates a sandbox-like isolated operating environment in which applications can be run or installed without permanently modifying the local or mapped drive. An isolated virtual environment allows controlled testing of untrusted programs and web surfing. Sandboxie is available in two flavors Plus and Classic. Both have the same core components, this means they have the same level of security and compatibility. What's different is the user interface the Plus build has a modern Qt based UI which supports all new features that have been added since the project went open source. The Classic build has the old no longer developed MFC based UI, hence it lacks support for modern features, these features can however still be used when manually configured in the Sandboxie.ini. Sandboxie Plus 1.17.8 / Classic 5.72.8 release notes: Added added DisableCustomTitleOpt=[process,][y|n] to allow [#] sandboxie title markers on custom-titlebar windows (Delphi VCL, Qt, Electron) that were previously skipped to prevent DWM repaint CPU loops #5387 Changed updated bundled ImDisk driver to 3.0.2 #5419 Fixed fix Suppress logs for expected non-user SIDs #5422 SbieSvc.exe: SBIE2218/2219 error when run program as administrator #5417 fixed explorer.exe crashes in Application Compartment when Huorong Security is installed #5423 Download: Sandboxie Plus (64-bit) | 23.5 MB (Open Source) Download: Sandboxie Classic (64-bit) | 3.0 MB Links: Sandboxie Website | GitHub | ARM64 | Screenshot Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
    • Hello, Christian Maas' XVI32 is a nice (and very small) hex editor. Speaking of hex editors, many years ago a colleague and I who both worked at Tribal Voice managed to edit a copy of the company's PowWow instant messaging client to make it behave better now that all of its lookup servers and other server-side tech was gone.  The program didn't support NAT (RFC-3022 was introduced in January 2001, the same time Tribal Voice was shuttered), but it still worked okay if you manually set up port-forwarding on your router.  The server at http://powwow.jazy.net/ hosts a copy (usual warnings about downloading and running untrusted code from random internet servers apply). I occasionally use some tools like Funduc Software's Search and Replace and Application Mover when I need to make mass-edits to text-based files or move programs with a hard-coded installation directories, respectively.  When I need to figure out the exact LCD panel inside of a laptop, EnTech Taiwan's Monitor Asset Manager is my go-to tool for that purpose. JD Design's website (now hosted on github.io) has a number of interesting freeware and shareware utilities.  I used to use their TouchPro utility to set the file timestamps on software I was mastering to match its version number (e.g., version 3.00 of a program had all of its files dates set to 3:00AM, and so forth). Karenware has a number of interesting freeware utilities, too. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
