Probably not, but one can hope. I do miss the glory days of Stargate but that was mostly due to RDJ who just sweats awesomeness.

I don't understand this show...

OK, so a bunch of soldiers + etc are forced through a stargate when they come under attack. This lands them on an Ancient ship...

1) Where were they before this?

2) They're human, right?

they should just call the show Battlestar Universe or something. I mean it is influenced by BSG so much so that if they didn't include the Star Gate in the show you wouldn't know it had anything to do w/ it.

From what i have hear/seen of the script its going to be rather good. (havent read the whole thread yet) however the Destiny (the ship they are on) is the ship that originally seeded the planets with the stargates its going to be amazing.

Gahh, I hope not, I don't want it turning into a soap in space. I hated BSG, was like B5, too much talking and not enough action.

BSG is in its own category so I see this being something different there will be a long arc story I bet.

Personally, im not that excited about it. It's too distant from the original Stargate premise for my liking. I'll watch it off the net, but I seriously doubt this will go on my DVD shelf, unlike the mega-boxed set of Stargate and (soon to be) Atlantis.

This is true, I've recently started watching SG1 again those were awesome episodes.

Thing is, the producers haven't said they can never go home or they will never make it home again (since they are "stranded" on the Destiny) in fact, they haven't ruled out they could return home before the end of the 1st season! WTF

Plus, if you guys don't know, the first like, 5 out of 8 episodes or so all have storylines taking place back on Earth for christ sake lol

I suppose it might be smart, they may not want to fall into the Stargate Voyager formula :D

Glad Im not the only one who thought of Stargate Voyager, but eh, Stargate hasnt let me down yet, so meh =) I'lll keep up hopes for this series.

Well I don't think they are that worn out on Stargate to go down that route honestly. But I do worry about how they will handle the whole "we can't get home, we aren't the right people for this job" thing. If I recall correctly, only Robert Carlyle's character is the only one with Ancient technology experience. And Lou Diamond Phillips is the only "seasoned" military officer with them. But hey, I could be wrong.

Either way, at least we get cameos from RDA and MS so far :)

After the disappointment with Atlantis I'm not too optimistic about this.

I don't know. I enjoyed Atlantis for the most part. They wandered storyline wise quite a bit, not to mention they couldn't figure out if the Wraith were the main enemy of the show or the Replicators for awhile there lol

Regardless, SG-1 suffered because of Atlantis (I think most people would agree with this comment no?) but this time, there is no other TV show on to make Universe suffer writing wise. Though we do have the SG-1 and Atlantis movies, it's not quite the same pressure as writing 26 episodes of TV straight.
