Why not use the stones to contact people like Daniel Jackson or Rodney McKay to help reactivate things and translate things with Rush?

So, if the dead body of the Senator is still on board... wtf flew off the ship in the end of episode 2?

I'm pretty sure it was a different ship, not the shuttle. They only have 2 shuttles on the ship so one missing with his body on it would be pretty hard to miss. Overall a very boring episode for me, so predictable and I saw the ending coming from a mile away. Anytime a scifi shows goes into an unknown star system, with no power, and they show you a picture of the star in the system, you know they're going to have some OMG we have no power and we're heading into the star plot, cause that's like never been done ever -_-.

As to big boob lady, meh, she's obviously attractive but the episode could have done without it. It's almost like the writers knew the first episodes were going to be junk, but to attract the 18-34 male to this show they say let's just throw in some boobies every episode that adds nothing really to the story and keep them hooked until it hopefully gets better again.

All I have to say is Atlantis and SG-1 didn't have to rely on this, I'm troubled the writers of this show feel they have to add a sexual element and tension to every single episode so far, it really gets annoying after a point.

Star Trek... folded? HARDLY! The new movie introduced new generations to the series, and J.J. Abrams said he plans to make more Trek movies... I think he did a good job, even with the creative license he took (and I'm a diehard trekkie... hell, i OWN all of trek on DVD XD and all the games 0o')

I'm really liking the series so far. Last episode and previous ones. It's different from the other 2 but similar enough. Anyone care to take bets on how long it will last? :) will it be the atlantis 5! or the mighty sg1 10 :D

They don't have any other series going so I can see them stretching this as long as they can. How are the ratings, you haven't posted anything Rappy, you can't expect me to search the interwebs myself!

haha the first episode was really good ratings but where I find my ratings they don't include Syfy :(

well im gonna say more than atlantis, less than SG1

remember were living in times now where almost everythings been done, and its gonna be hard for them to bring us something fresh and new(not their fault)

Atlantis was going really well to and then they ruined the Dr Wier character, so this show can do really well then they could do something horrible to it that they just cant recover from

Yeah, it is annoying.

I'm also not impressed by this love-triangle between Eli, Chloe and 1st Lt. Scott (Matt).

So far, though, I like how they're concentrating on the ship, rather than "go through the gate, something goes wrong, they sort it and come back". Obviously the gate still needs to be utilised (other wise it wouldn't be Stargate), but the formula has already been used twice, so it's nice that they haven't taken that approach (yet)

Does anyone know what Telford thinks is going on?

I like how they are trying to ration their water but there's still time for a sexy shower scene.

There's always enough water for a sexy shower scene. Would be a real shame if not

I am a big fan of stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. This series however ****es me off to much sex / sexual activity in it.

I don't have an issue with that aspect (in the very opposite ), but there's still only very little of it.

The shower scene and similar simply wasn't made for Catholic choir boys who are scared of anything that's sexuality-related.

Just go watch Care Bears or Teletubbies instead, you certainly won't find anything sexual in there.

or this magazine cover :p

She really needs to pull that zipper all the way down :woot:

A shame that the other girl doesn't have a zipper

Epic boobs are epic.

Indeed.

 Horny lately my lord!

Looks like you need to get you some!

lol anyways, I like how the series is going. Just going to sit back and watch what happens. To early to tell on how it will end up.

I am really enjoying this show and am loving the characters. I do not know about some of you but it is still just not the same of how SG-1 or Atlantis was. It just seems all over the place. Now I know they were all thrown into this situation and a lot of them are all new to this, young and not experienced. Not that they need to be experienced, just look back to the beginning of SG-1 and Atlantis.

Anyways, someone mentioned how many seasons this show might get up to 5 with Atlantis or 10 with SG-1. I see this show lasting a while but not so sure as many as 5. It would be nice to see some ratings though after another episode. Either way, I will keep watching till they do whatever to the show since I love Stargate.

Have to say I'm liking this show so far. I recently watched an ep of atlantis - what a difference in camera techniques and even film type (atlantis looks so crisp - like comparing home video and cinematic stuff)

Anyway, as far longevity is concerned I would much rather the writers had an end game and could negotiate an finale something like 4/5 years from now. Guess we'll have to wait and see how season 1 fares to get an idea if such things might be possible.

SG-1 failed when;

they added the guy from farscape then they added the women from farscape and then they bought in the ori for the rest of the series.

Atlantis failed when;

They killed the Doc, got rid of Wier, added the Doc from voyager as the leader, kept stretching out Micheal plot.

I can see universe failing if they don't pick it up a bit. Shower scene, big boobs, shouting guy, bsg style drama, very slow development of any action. Does not make good tv imo.

Comeon SG-1 was interesting from the start, Atlantis was interesting from the start. Universe was interesting at the start until they all got stuck a busted up ship and started whinning at each other...

I don't know what kind of sci-fi shows you guys like but I prefer there to be a bit more action. That Eli guy hasn't said anything amusing yet....I miss Teal'c, Daniel, Sheppard & McKay.

Sure I could stop watching it, but then it might suddeny become interesting..Yes I know it's only four episodes in but the other shows were good from the start as I said.

I love this show so much this is everything i wanted Atlantis to be instead of just another SG-1 clone.

Uh its only been 4 episodes, well technically 2 because the first 3 were all 1 episode arc, you cant expect them to have any kind of development after 2(4) episodes, not everyone cares about action action action all the damn time.

I do miss the classics but I'm like Universe best right now. Although it'd be hard to replace SG1 so I'll just say its better than Atlantis for the moment. I'd like it to go 5 seasons strong than 5+ and dwindle.

However I can see problems for them down the road as there is never a really established location with them constantly moving. Hard to build any kind of story arc thats not directly related to the ship. Anything in Universe seems to be short lived, 1 or 2 episodes at the most before they're back on the move again.

Isn't it obvious flying into the star will charge the ship?

Not into it, but toward it - yes. I'd say the ship would harness the star's solar energy to recharge its energy reserves. :geek:

The ship will deploy the Ancient Big Giant Scoop™ and grab enough energy to maintain the crew for the time being. Are there even ZPMs on the Destiny? It's possible the ship predates that technology.

Thats what I was thinking, we haven't even seen any ZPM's yet. And you'd think that if the ancients were sending this ship on auto-pilot for so many years that they would implement some sort of recharging capabilities.

:p that'd be awesome if they actually called it the Ancient Big Giant Scoop™. I could picture Eli saying that.

    • As I've been usually saying lately - we all can thank "AI" for this.
    • Friday Windows 11 preview builds are here. Insiders in the Experimental (formerly Dev) and Beta Channel can download builds 26300.8697 and 26220.8690. My Windows11 device on the Preview Channel just got 26220.8728. My guess is this build is a nightly update from 26220.8690.
    • Traffic has a surprisingly unexpected impact on your surroundings by Sayan Sen Image by Radik 2707 via Pexels A collaborative study by researchers from several Israeli institutions found that everyday pollution from traffic and industrial activity measurably changed the atmospheric electric field over the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, providing new evidence of how human activity can influence the lower atmosphere. The research was led by Dr. Roy Yaniv of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Gertner Institute at Sheba Medical Center, Dr. Assaf Hochman of the Fredy & Nadine Herrmann Institute of Earth Sciences at the Hebrew University, and Prof. Yoav Yair of Reichman University. The study also involved Itay Froomer, a student from Hadera High School and the Israeli Museum of Medicine and Science (Technoda), who carried out the work as part of the Ministry of Education's 5-unit physics research track. The researchers focused on the atmospheric electric field under fair-weather conditions. Even in the absence of storms, a weak electric field naturally exists between Earth's surface and the atmosphere. One of the main ways scientists measure this field is through the Potential Gradient (PG), which is the inverse of the vertical component of the electric field. PG is a key part of the global electric circuit, a planet-wide system of electrical currents maintained by thunderstorms and electrified clouds around the world. Scientists have long known that the atmospheric electric field can be influenced by factors ranging from large-scale atmospheric processes to local weather conditions such as dust, fog and clouds. Human-made pollution is also known to play a role, but understanding exactly how urban emissions affect the electric field close to the ground has remained an area of ongoing research. To investigate this relationship, the team analyzed measurements from a newly installed electric field mill, an instrument used to continuously monitor the strength of the atmospheric electric field. The instrument was installed at the Center for Technological Education (Roter House) in Holon and became operational in August 2024. It was funded by Israel's Ministry of Education and the Holon municipality. The electric field mill forms part of a broader monitoring network that includes nearby meteorological stations and air-quality monitoring sites. This allowed researchers to compare electric field measurements with detailed weather data and pollution records to better understand what was driving changes in the Potential Gradient. The study focused on two major urban pollutants: fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), both commonly produced by vehicle traffic and industrial activity. PM2.5 refers to microscopic airborne particles small enough to remain suspended in the atmosphere for extended periods, while NOx is a group of gases released during fuel combustion. Researchers examined daily, weekly and seasonal patterns in the atmospheric electric field and compared them with changes in pollutant concentrations. Their analysis revealed a clear relationship between NOx levels and changes in the Potential Gradient, particularly during morning and evening rush hours when traffic emissions were at their highest. “What we observe is a direct physical link between emission peaks and electrical variability,” explained Dr. Roy Yaniv. “NOx reduces atmospheric conductivity very quickly, so the electric field responds almost instantaneously during traffic rush hours.” Atmospheric conductivity describes how easily electrical charges move through the air. According to the researchers, nitrogen oxides rapidly alter this conductivity, causing a near-immediate response in the electric field. PM2.5, however, was associated with a delayed response. The researchers attributed this difference to the particles' longer atmospheric residence time, meaning they remain in the atmosphere for longer periods, as well as their different microphysical interactions with surrounding air and atmospheric components. The study also identified a pronounced "weekend effect." In Israel, traffic volumes and some industrial activity decline significantly on Fridays and Saturdays. During these periods, concentrations of both NOx and PM2.5 dropped, and corresponding changes were observed in the atmospheric electric field. “The weekend signal demonstrates just how sensitive the electric field is to changes in human activity,” the researchers noted. “When emissions decline, the electrical environment adjusts at once, providing a high-resolution indicator of urban atmospheric conditions.” The findings showed that pollution levels can influence not only the chemical composition of the atmosphere but also its electrical properties. Researchers said the results strengthened the case for using atmospheric electricity as an additional tool for environmental monitoring, particularly in densely populated urban areas where anthropogenic, or human-caused, influences are most pronounced. The study also pointed to potential public health applications. By combining air-quality measurements with observations of atmospheric electricity, researchers said they could gain a more complete picture of how urban atmospheric conditions change over time. “Integrating air-quality data with electric-field measurements gives us a clearer picture of how the lower atmosphere evolves moment by moment,” the researchers added. “It’s a framework that can support both scientific insight and practical environmental decision-making.” Beyond the scientific findings, the project highlighted a collaboration between universities, public institutions and secondary education. Researchers said the work demonstrated how students could take part in real-world environmental research while contributing to studies of air quality, atmospheric processes and their potential effects on society. • We aren't even at the all-star game and Microsoft is talking about an update that will most likely be released during the World Series if not after. A lot can happen in the world between now and the 2026 World Series, including the 2026 FIFA Cup. Tell me about it again after the FIFA Cup is concluded. That should allow plenty of time to prepare for it.
    • Great, tell me when I have a "Bad Pool Caller" elsewhere not in Windoze.
