ThisSiteHasLostItsCharm
well I finally got around to watching the last episode and don't really know how to feel. When they first advertised this show they featured Rush as the leader of the expedition and as the main guy..now as the show progresses, they make him out to be the 2nd slot main caster behind Young. I look at this "cliffhanger" 2 different ways neither of which entertains me.If Rush is a main character that pretty much will never be killed off the show then all this has been a distraction since we know he's going to have to come back to the ship in some form and it has to be a form where he's on the show every episode and not just guest starring every 5. The other option is that they somehow kill him off in the end, which if they do will make me stop watching the show. Absolutely none of the other characters on this show interest me in any fashion except Rush. Eli is on the radar but he's more annoying than interesting to me, so if they got rid of Rush there's literally zero reason for me to watch the rest of the cast since they are all so dull on the screen IMO. I know people have said things about episodes that haven't broadcast yet and I personally don't look ahead to episodes as I like to maintain some sense of suprise so going based on what we've seen and basing predictions off that it would be a huge mistake to get rid of his character. Yea they kinda gave the wrong impression, because he hasn't done much leading so far and is very secretive. None of his ship mates seem to like or trust him. Then they go dump him on some planet, not sure where the show is heading. Vice
The show so far doesn't interest me much. It's been incredibly slow but I understand they are building to something they have definitely set the tone that they are in a very desolate part of space where not much life exists. It makes me wonder if all the life they do see will consist mostly of advanced species with FTL drives to be able to reach this far out from the more populated parts of the universe. If anything the series has opened my imagine more regarding SciFi of this nature. It has a very BSG feel to it that everyone has already commented on so I wont go there, but having said that I do like the cast of SGU more than I did BSG and I think that is more to do with me being able to relate to a normal guy stuck in an unbelievable situation like the SGU ship where as on BSG everyone already has a job and is quite familiar with their ship and its capabilities it lacks that outside observer which SGU and really the entire SG franchise has been able to deliver quite easily. Yusuf M. Veteran Posted December 28, 2009 Veteran Share Posted December 28, 2009 I think Rush has his own agenda. I don't think he'd risk lives if the benefits didn't justify it though. macrosslover
I think Rush has his own agenda. I don't think he'd risk lives if the benefits didn't justify it though. yeah that's one problem I have with how he's portrayed on the show. People on the show act like he'd kill them all if it would gain him just a bit more knowledge and I think that's unfair to his character and I hope they don't maintain this undercurrent of distrust/hate towards Rush for the entire run, assuming he's around for the entire run. Rob2687
Maybe cause that's exactly what he did at the beginning. Xero
Maybe cause that's exactly what he did at the beginning. He stranded them all for the sake of his little project there to dial the 9th chevron. Not entirely true. The planet was going to blow up. It'd be risky to dial Earth incase it came through which it partially did with Young. While they didn't have to go there, I'm sure he wasn't expecting it to be a ship at the other end of the universe ;) And I hope they give him more credit, like the others said, he doesn't seem like he wants it all for personal gain, it looks like he's a scientist, who takes risks when it justifies the end. Besides the chair thing wasn't even his fault the other guy sat in it out of his own free will. As for his lies, he was right about the planet as it would have boosted moral and got people working together better. Framing Young wasn't the best idea but that dude is an ass. Rush is my favourite character on the show and easily the best actor of them all. They'd be stupid to get rid of him. He's back in the next episode if I'm not mistaken anyways. andrew_f
Being back in April could go either way. Xero
Hoepfully he'll turn out to be a bit like Jackson, he's the only character I like on the show. (for the moment) That'd be nice, he certainly has many of his traits and is the residence expert. However he's definitely not as friendly as Dr. Jackson ;) He's hands down my favourite, best actor in the bunch and best character. I do like Greer and Eli though, they help balance out the madness. Still no women that really stand out. The doctor more than any of them but even then not so much. I quite liked Weir/Carter in the other shows.
