256 color icons in Tray?

I would love to have 256 colors in systray.... BUT, there's no patched file availible for Swedish version of Windows 2000, SP3. :angry:

no it wont, there is alot of difference ion the explorer so it will fubbar up and wont start the explorer

It's the same addresses in all languages.

English Windows 2000, SP2

...and...

Swedish Windows 2000, SP2

...has the same addresses for those variables.

Should be the same with SP3.

But I won't download some strange application that I have never used before and then try to patch it myself.

I can't kill explorer.exe...

I have 256 colors now. :woot:

I gave Hex Workshop a chance, it was pretty easy.

I couldn't kill explorer.exe in the taskmanager so I had to reboot into fail safe mode with command prompt(cmd.exe only)

I backed up the old one and copied the patched one and then I rebooted. :D

Now i have 256 colors!!! :D

Isn't it possible to make windows copy explorer.exe from DllCache to \WinNT when booting?

I will do this with my Windows 98 machine too. Just for fun. :)

And if it's possible to automate the replace process then I will write an application that will do it. :)

I'm busy with school... but the guy have already done that for Windows 2000 SP2 and SP3.

What are the advantages of having 256 color icons? what color setting does WinXP use?
