Wonderful! :D I always thought there's something wrong with my tray-icons since I've also had a problem with other icons not showing in true-colour (I use Win 2000 SP4). I had no idea the sys-tray by default shows just 16 (?!?) colours... Why? I mean, all tray-icons seem to be designed in 256 colours (except the system ones, of course) and some don't even have a 16 colour version which forces the 256 colour version to be shown in a really bad way...

Now my sys-tray looks very colourful.

Does anybody here know how to integrate it into Win2000 install disc? I try to makecab explorer.exe explorer.ex_, then overwrite it into I386 folder of CD, then try to re-install it with new CD. But during installation, it prompt it's not a valid Win2000 system image. Somebody say that use setcsum utility or modifype to change checksum of PE-header. But still failed. Anybody can help me on it? Thanks!

You don't need to download something to patch explorer.exe. Only you have to click on the first paragraph the end of the following line:

-NEW- Windows 2000 SP4 : You can now automaticaly patch your Windows of any language. Click Here.

Recommended to do this in the Internet Explorer.

If you get failing you can download this file

http://www.dr-hoiby.com/TrayIconIn256Color/ExplorerPatcher.cab

Extract to somewhere, open the DOS command windows here and type this:

regsvr32.exe ExplorerPatcher.dll

Now restart the comp and ready.
