Ghostbusters 3 (Rumours and Discussion)

it sounds like he doesn't give a toss.

It sounds to me like hre REALLY cares. Like he holds the original up as the awesome film it was, the icon it was (I agree). Then he feels the 2nd was a let-down (again, I agree), and he doesn't want to tarnish it further!

Also, to him it's a job. Nobody has ACTUALLY booked him yet, so he is simply saying "Nothing is happening yet, so I don't see where all this talk is coming from".

I've never understood why so many hate GB2, I loved it just as much as the first, the villian Vigo was much better than Zool / Goza. I remember seeing it at the cinema as a kid and it scared the crap outta me.

Both Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd seem to be under the impression this film will start filming this fall, for a release in late 2011. Too bad nobody's told Bill Murray that. [Proton Charging]

Corrected. ;)

@ Rappeh's post : that's actually hilarious. Bill is in the dark now.

GQ has a great, monster interview with Murray (motivated by Get Low, which is a great little film) and Ghostbusters 3 is naturally brought up.

It?s all a bunch of crock. It?s a crock? Harold Ramis said, Oh, I?ve got these guys, they write on The Office, and they?re really funny. They?re going to write the next Ghostbusters. And they had just written this movie that he had directed?Year One. Well, I never went to see Year One, but people who did, including other Ghostbusters, said it was one of the worst things they had ever seen in their lives. So that dream just vaporized. That was gone. But it?s the studio that really wants this thing. It?s a franchise. It?s a franchise, and they made a whole lot of money on Ghostbusters.

I have to agree.. Year One was pretty bad. Well there still goes the dream.

Except for the fact that Sigorney Weaver has been contacted about the movie.

Earlier this year she said that she was unsure about whether Ghostbuster 3 was actually going to happen, but apparently she's been talking to Reitman. In a recent interview she talks about a few ideas for the film that we've already heard, but also mentions that she's been contacted.

I've also been contacted, All I said was I really think my little boy Oscar, who went through that traumatic kidnapping, should be a ghostbuster. So I think that might happen.

As for what Oscar would be like in the film she describes him as being "grown up, and he'd be like Zach Galifianakis." Ummm, could you imagine Galifianakis taking on the role of Oscar? That would be so weird. I think Oscar would be around 20 years old now wouldn't he? So they would cast a younger actor that's like Galifinakis?

As far as where the movie currently stands she says,

They're working on the script. Ivan knows what he's doing, so let him work on the script.

She also adds that if the script isn't good then they won't do the movie.

original actors are too old.. sequel should have been made 10 years ago or more.. They could have even made 4 or 5 ghostbuster in their time.. but I thing it`s too late now with original actors..

How is it too late, Ghostbusters wasnt really an action film to begin with they dont need to be running about. If Harrison Ford, Bruce Willis, Sly Stallone can do it im sure the original GB actors could.

+1000

The movie was about great humor, and classic jokes. Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Dan Akroyd of today (even Ernie Hudson) would make not only a great Ghostbusters on modern times, but a great new millenium take on classic ghost films with all the grownup humor and their mixed goofball personalities.

About making Oscar a central character, well, i dont know about that. I think that ship has sailed. I would concentrate on the next great ghost villain. Even if making Murray a ghost in the film, and tempting him to be an informant from the other side, or an ally for the ghost villain. For Murrays personality, that would be awesome.

My 2c.

Dan Aykroyd was recently asked about his reaction to Mr. Murray?s comments, and in his answer he offered not so much a defense of Msrs. Stupnitsky and Eisenberg, but a defense of the script, which he?s now working on directly.

Dan Aykroyd had this to say about Ghostbusters 3 while promoting his Crystal Head vodka:

I think [bill Murray] was concerned that the writing on Ghostbusters 3 by these guys would not be up to standard, but I can tell you firsthand, I?m working on the script now and those two?Stupnitsky and Eisenberg, [writer-producers of The Office]?wrote Bill the comic role of a lifetime, and the new Ghostbusters and the old are all well represented in it?we have a strong first draft that Harold [Ramis] and I will take back, and I?m very excited about working on it.

I am scared about the "passing the torch" so to speak onto the next younger generation, but i loved the Startrek reboot, with the right writers this could be amazing and spawn another trilogy of movies, lets face it any Ghostbusters is better than no Ghostbusters.

Sony executive Stefano Paganini has what seems like a fairly big update on the status of the project, which is kind of weird because he made the announcement at, of all places, Rome's Ghostbusters Day 2010:

"I spoke about this night with my boss from Los Angeles. She allowed me to let you know that the script of Ghostbusters 3 has been approved so the engine has been turned on!"

[Bloody Disgusting]

Elsewhere, Sigourney Weaver seemed to confirm, or at least lend some additional credence to the reports that Dana's son Oscar is leading a new generation of Ghostbusters:

Yes, I got a call from Ivan Reitman. I think everyone who's involved would love to get together again. I think everyone's working on really trying to create a wonderful original story. I just said, "That would be fun and please make sure my little son Oscar grows up to be a Ghostbuster." And he said, "Absolutely." Then I think he directed this other film and is busy editing it, so it kind of got put on hold. But I would be surprised if we didn't do it.

    • Windoze 11 could finally go to hell, instead of making me savor yet another error I've never had. "Bad Pool Caller" or whatever TF cryptic crap0la message it is. Adding salt to injury, it says something along these lines (on the blank black screen after it hard stops): "Your windoze needs to restart. You can restart." NO WAY SHERLOCK. The PEECEE, look, it's *blocked*, I can do jack sh1t with it as it is and you say that it needs to restart? Further, that I can restart? What am I supposed to do, take a herbal bath? Sudo a sandwich? Timewaster pile of useless slop and errors, coded by monkeys and force-fed on us by a pedo-founded corporation, that's all there is to it. Now, let's have a fun weekend trying to handle the error, which after a quick internet check can basically be due to EVERYTHING, from memory faults to drivers to motherboard issues. Thanks M$.

It emphasizes privacy by blocking trackers, ads, and ensuring your data isn't collected. With Zen Mods, users can enhance their browser experience with various customization options, including features like split views and vertical tabs. The browser is designed for efficiency, providing fast browsing speeds and a lightweight interface. Zen Browser prioritizes user control over the browsing experience, offering a minimal yet powerful alternative to traditional web browsers while keeping your online activity private. Zen Browser’s DRM limitation Zen Browser currently lacks support for DRM-protected content, meaning streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are inaccessible. This is due to the absence of a Widevine license, which requires significant costs and is financially unfeasible for the developer. Additionally, applying for this license would require Zen to be part of a larger company, similar to Mozilla or Brave. Therefore, DRM-protected media won't be supported in Zen Browser for the foreseeable future. Zen Browser offers features that improve user experience, privacy, and customization: Privacy-Focused: Blocks trackers and minimizes data collection. Automatic Updates: Keeps the browser updated with security patches. Zen Mods: Customizable themes and layouts. Workspaces: Organize tabs into different workspaces. • Microsoft, why can't I just turn off Copilot on my MS account (in order to stop OneDrive from wanting to summarize everything, ahem) in a way that doesn't break OneNote instead?
