Girl Married at 9, slain by parents at 17

Exactly, they appear to be muslims but they actually aren't. If your culture conflicts with the religion then your not a muslim, that's like saying I've had sex before but I'm a virgin, doesn't make any sense. If these people actually tried to understand the religion not just memorize the quran and the hadiths then this never would've happened.

Those peoples who are responsible for such act, don't bother to memorize Quran and Hadith either, they're Muslims by chance not by Choice.

May I add that the area (Balochistan)where this incident happened, is the most backward and under-developed area of Pakistan, even the government has no real authority there. People there live in tribes, believe in their tribal customs, and adhere to them, and sadly some of these customs and traditions are in contradiction with the Islamic teachings, this incindent is a result of those traditions. Most of these people in question are uneducated and dont even know much about Islam either. And also, most of the Balochistani's used to be bandits before Islam arrived there, and some of them still are.

About the honor-killings, this is a big issue in the Indian-subcontinent, let alone Pakistan. Incidents of honor-killings used to be quite common in India and Pakistan even a decade ago, both among the muslims and hindus. Though they have decreased considerably but there still are remnants, it will be some time before this menace is completely gotten rid of.

So please, dont judge the 160 million people of Pakistan, or the rest of the muslims by this incident.

Throughout this whole article, the only place Islam is mentioned is here:

Why do people always love to stereotype Islam and throw the blame on it? If Islam is truly the motivator of such cruel actions, then why don't we hear about stuff like that among the 70 million Chinese Muslims? or the 8 million American Muslims? or the majority of the Middle East?

Why is it when a nut case group in some village does something horrible like this, the 1.2 billion Muslims get blamed for it?

Islam sets basic rules and principles among all Muslims, but it also encourages cultures and differences as long as they do not contradict with its basic teachings - basic teachings such as prohibiting killing. That is why Muslims around the world are culturally very different than each other and therefore, Islam does not equal culture.

Here is a small example:

One of the basic teachings of Islam is to prevent parents from forcing their children into marriage.

To coup with this basic principle, some parents in some cultures learned to let go. They let the sons and daughters to pick their mates without interference. This happens quite a lot in Jordan and Egypt.

Other parents in other cultures are a bit more protective. They coup with this teaching by not interfering directly with their children, but to give advice regarding witch spouse is more suitable for their child, but the final saying is to the son/daughter. My parents are an example of this. In these 2 examples, the parents coup in a "right way".

On the other hand, there are the disgusting parents who would murder their children in order for them not to force them into marrying certain individuals. Obviously, this is ultimately a wrong way of coping, why? because it contradicts with another teaching of Islam: protecting and preserving life.

I hope this makes my point a bit more clear. I wish if people would start to understand the differences between outdated traditions and Islam.

Actually things like this do happen in the Islamic areas of China. In Urumqi and XinJiang province, there are suicide bombings and such. Same with just about every other Islamic country (Philippines, Malaysia, ect...). These things don't just happen in the middle east, but just about every Islamic country. To say it has nothing to do with the religion is obviously untrue.

I personally disagree with this and find it sick BUT I do have to respect their way of thinking.

Sorry, but no. You really REALLY don't have to respect their way of thinking.

Respect is something that has to be EARNED, not just given away freely. Otherwise you just devalue the whole idea of respect in the first place. I only respect things/people which have done things to DESERVE that respect. Same applies to disrespect. I only disrespect things which have EARNED it.

IMO, societies/cultures/religions/whatever which allow things like honour killings, without even punishing the perpetrators, only deserve DISrespect.

Did the Pakistani government even arrest these people? If not, they're just as guilty as the murderers themselves. Possibly even more so as it just gives tacit permission for more acts of barbarity like this.

hi, im from malaysia and suicide bombings is VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY unheard of in here.please quote some facts before blatantly making up stories

Ohh Please... Malaysia, Philippines n china ?

you prolly live in your Anti Islamic imaginations !

thats just wrong

I don't care what society you are from. Just, answer this question: Um.... Why?

the family probably gains something from it

Again why? Because you say its wrong? Maybe millions of years ago EVERYONE was 45 and married a 9 year old. Again you (nor do anyone else) make the rules of what is right and what is wrong.

I personally disagree with this and find it sick BUT I do have to respect their way of thinking.

millions of years ago you would be lucky to get to 45 :woot: , but know what you mean.

Look, sex with a 9 year old girl is wrong. Not because religion says so, not because culture says so. Because nature says so...

The risks of death in labour are incresed.

The risk of cervical cancer from sexual intercourse before puberty are increased.

The risk of hemooraging through intercourse are increased.

But hey, if you agree with it - form your own religion. Won't make it right though!

It is just common sense... I bet that 45 year old has kids older then his "wife". Can't people think for themselfs, and say, "hey, when i was 9, I wish I had a say in the situation".

Also, is their "god" telling them to go and do such acts with children?

all said and done pakistan is one of those countries that comforts the rest of sout asia :)

no matter how bad things better in say Sri Lanka, India etc it will never be as bad as what happens in pakistan

ppl may say its nothing to do with islam, but the "elders" say it does and i dont see the police arresting them, or raiding their homes or anything!

What about Bangladesh?.. its majority Muslim and its a Muslim country and in South East Asia.. But you dont see something like that happens there.. Its because the culture over there is different..

Or could it be more likely that there would be more people in that region willing and able to put a boot up the ass of any inbred savage that tried something like marrying a 9-year old child? And not turn a blind eye to it like so many others are quick to do?

It's hard to respect their beliefs when it seems that so few of them even know what their beliefs are.

lol...I have noticed that everything seems justified unless its an out-sider doing the killing or its someone else's blame or mis-understanding. (duh)

this sux =\ ... and I (as a Muslim) find it really disgusting...

it's weird that everybody is talking about beliefs and religion here...

those people are not representing the whole community... even in my country this bull**** happens... but it's like 0.001% ... the rest of the community find that this is really sick...

and by the way :) ... I've read that some one said that religion IS culture and tradition ... this is totally wrong ..

ppl may say its nothing to do with islam, but the "elders" say it does and i dont see the police arresting them, or raiding their homes or anything!

There really is nothing in this incident that is related to Islam, except that the people involved were Muslims - who hardly even know what Islam is. They didn't do those killings in the name of Islam, but in the name of their traditions: pre-Islamic traditions that these people haven't let go. Plz don't involve Islam in this.

And those people have certainly been arrested, and a case registered against them. You can't expect the government to do nothing after the increasing pressure from the human rights organizations and NGO's...

    • I like Tidal, but it still does not control devices from the mobile/app and still no surround support. And yeah re: above comment I still get a lot of network errors and I am on a 4/4 Gbit Fiber connection.
    • Aren`t "security features" and "AI model that can see your screen" a tad diametric!
    • Samsung, Amazon extend 990 PRO 2TB NVMe SSD deal beyond Prime Day 2026 by Sayan Sen Recently, we had Amazon's Prime Day 2026 sales wherein there were several great deals including on SSDs. One of those discounted components was the Samsung 990 PRO SSD as the 2TB variant of it was selling for $370, a very good price after a long time. Although that deal was supposed to expire today, Amazon has now extended that sale further (purchase link under the specs table down below). The 990 PRO is a PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD and still one of the fastest drives available today for under $400. Speaking of fast, sequential reads and writes are rated at 7450 MB/s and 6900 MB/s, respectively. The random throughputs for reads and writes are 1400K IOPS and 1550K IOPS, respectively. The 990 PRO is based on Samsung's 7th Gen V-NAND flash, and it too is TLC. It packs 2 gigs of LPDDR4 DRAM cache, which helps the random performance. The endurance rating for this is 1200 TBW (terabytes written), which should be sufficient for most users. The Samsung 990 PRO is compatible with the PlayStation 5, but if you are going to use the 990 PRO on a PC, check out the Samsung Magician app that lets you track your drive's health, update its firmware, customize various settings, and more. The technical specs of the Samsung 990 PRO 2TB are given in the table below: Specification Value Form Factor M.2 2280 Interface PCIe Gen 4.0 x4, NVMe 2.0 NAND Flash Samsung V-NAND TLC Controller Samsung In-house Controller Cache Memory Samsung 2GB Low Power DDR4 SDRAM Sequential Read Speed Up to 7,450 MB/s Sequential Write Speed Up to 6,900 MB/s Random Read (4KB, QD32) Up to 1,400,000 IOPS Random Write (4KB, QD32) Up to 1,550,000 IOPS Random Read (4KB, QD1) Up to 22,000 IOPS Random Write (4KB, QD1) Up to 80,000 IOPS Operating Temperature 0°C to 70°C Reliability (MTBF) 1.5 Million Hours Endurance 1,200 TBW (Total Bytes Written) Get it at the link below: Samsung 990 PRO SSD 2TB NVMe SSD (MZ-V9P2T0B/AM): $369.99 (Sold and Shipped by Amazon US) Good to know This Amazon deal is U.S. specific, and not available in other regions unless specified. • Glad im on the right boat. Tidal has lots of issues in terms of app and music mix, its worst than spot but its honest. Spot algo is very tendentious and they pess less to artists, so im comfortable with the tidal errors, for now.
    • Tidal won't monetize AI slop music, company says by David Uzondu Image via Tidal Tidal has announced an AI policy aimed at protecting artists and their crafts, as AI music generation tools continue to improve both in speed and quality. According to the music streaming platform, AI-generated music will be accepted, but these tracks will be held to a "higher standard" of content integrity. Next month, the company plans to auto-identify and tag these uploads. Listeners will spot a special icon next to content that algorithms flag as 100% AI-generated starting mid-July, and the platform hopes to expand this tag to partially generated songs as detection tech improves. Any AI music that exploits an artist's voice or likeness will be taken down, and Tidal will immediately block tracks associated with fraudulent activity, which includes artificial streaming and deceptive content that interferes with real creators. And finally, music that's 100% AI-generated will not be monetized. Tidal said there is "ongoing debate" about whether certain licensed synthetic models deserve payouts, so it's possible that this part will change in the future. Streaming platforms are absolutely getting flooded with AI-generated music because of how easy it is to pump out endless tracks every minute. To give you an idea of how "bad" it is, Deezer alone reported that synthetic uploads now make up about 44% of its daily intake, which translates to roughly 75,000 automated tracks hitting its servers every single day. Interestingly, Deezer found most people cannot tell the difference between human and machine creations, with an Ipsos study revealing that 97% of listeners failed to spot the AI-generated tracks. Spotify's CEO recently pushed back against listeners who call AI music "slop," urging people to stop using the term and instead embrace the creative potential of AI music. The Swedish platform partnered with Universal Music Group to test "legal and controlled" generative AI tools that let subscribers remix songs with AI.
