[Official] Crysis Warhead

Running DX10 with everything on "Gamer" I believe it is? ( High ) and Postprocessing Very High in 1680x1050 on my old 8800 Ultra, 4GB Ram and x6800 Core2Extreme with a steady 30-40 FPS.

They have really done a great job, although some scenes have been smothered in fog and stuff like that to loosen up the FPS.

You can probably do Enthusiast if you wanted too, I can and it plays amazingly.

Have a Core 2 Duo E6750, 4 GB RAM and an 8800 GTS (320 MB). Gamer ('High') is slow and Enthusiast ('Very High') is pretty much unplayable (1650x1050, no AA). I get amazing performance in 'Medium', though (60 FPS).

The server browser in Crysis Wars shows no pings and GameSpy Comrade doesn't start ("Comrade has stopped working"). I have tried re-installing Comrade, as well as .NET 3.5 and .NET 3.5 SP1.

King, the 320MB is your problem. I have a very similar setup (see sig) and I know that's mine. I'm going to upgrade to the GTX 260 when prices on it go down. It still runs much better than the original, though. Only the ice levels are that slow for me. Funny, because they ran really well in the first game.

I just beat it, too. It was a whole lot more rewarding than the original Crysis, I'll say that much. The mission variety was also way better. Just more fun all-around. They fixed pretty much every complaint I had with the original.

Edit: Also, I've seen some people say they beat it in 4 hours. They must have really rushed through on purpose. It probably to me 6 I'd guess, and I'd say you could get well around 8-10 if you did every possible thing (sub-missions, kill everyone, etc). Felt a bit longer than the HL2 episodes, personally. Felt like the perfect length.

What? The ice level is a NIGHTMARE on the original crysis on my 9600gt, SLIDE shopw unless I turn it to medium. It runs fine on warhead though on very high.

There were tons of reports of the ice level in the original doing that on pretty much any card.

Few folk have said Pyscho is a bit cheesy and so is the story in places and I guess the whole Nuke thing has been done before but Im still early in so probs a plot twist or two yet. So far tho enjoying it, even to say a wee bit more than original, tho maybe Im just caught up in the hype. Need to see what later games like :)

haha yeah like his catch phrase "I'm british, you muppet"

@ Viper: Yes, I know, that's what I'm saying though. I'm the exact opposite for some reason.

When I first ran the ice level on the original Crysis it was a slideshow, then nVidia released better drivers and it was actually one of the smoothest sections of the game for me. Yet these ice levels in Warhead are running absolutely horrible while the rest of the game is running great.

It's probably got something to do with my graphics card, as I said... at least for Warhead. I don't know why the original ran well for me. Go figure.

1. hey guys, this is a little OT, but SHOULD i play the original Crysis before attempting to play Warhead?

2. My specs are e8400, 4gb ram, 8800gt, vista x64. I know a lot has had trouble with the original Crysis, but I am certain (i hope) that I will be able to run the original at at least medium settings.

1. Should you? It would slightly help understand the story, but you don't need to. Up to you.

2. Wait, what do you want to run at medium settings, the original or Warhead? Warhead will run great for you at medium ("Mainstream") settings because it runs great for me on those. Crysis should still run good since you have an 8800GT, which is actually better than my GTS by quite a bit.

Depending on the resolution you should be able to run the original on high and warhead on very high.

Use the natural mod on the original, makes it look as good as very high with better performance.

The ice levels were like a slideshow - so I quit it and launched it again, and they were really smooth.

I had the same issue with the original Crysis.

I finished it in about 4-5 hours on easy, doing everything, and absolutely loved it. Very high paced with lots of action. Highly recommended.

Now, I'm off to do it again, on a harder level (I tend to play games, starting on easy, and then replaying them, upping the difficulty each time, to increase the replayability of the game.)

I must admit, performance has certainly improved with Crysis Warhead?. Compared to the original I'd say it's better in almost every way. I'm still playing through the campaign so I don't know how it compares in terms of story duration. However, one thing I should bring up is the explosions. It looks better and it doesn't "lag" my computer (not even for a second). Here are my specs:

Intel Core2Duo E6750 @ 2.60 GHz

ATi Radeon HD 4850 512MB

Corsair 4GB DDR2-800 RAM

So, do you guys like multiplayer mode?

:(

Well, if it's anything like Crysis Multiplayer ... No thanks.

Tons of cheating, hit detection from hell, ADHD gameplay etc. etc.

Tbh I wasnt paying attention to some of that. But i was able to hit folk fine made some good kills with ranged shots thru the scope. Gameplay tis basic of team A vs team B or so I saw in my 1hr or so playing it. Reminds me a bit of HL2DM in its pace. Only prob is stealth is too easy to detect

As I stated earlier, no it will run like the first Crysis.

That's a shame. I guess they didn't have enough time to optimize it. It's either that, or it was developed around the time of Crysis and it simply wasn't released with it.

EDIT:

The game looks aboslutely amazing. I am currently running everything on Enthusiast in 1280x1024 until I hook my PC up to my Samsung 32 1080p for some 1900x1200 gaming. I'll report back with some fps once I do that.

Besides graphically the game builds on everything from the first extremely well, kudos Crytek!

    • But they will be the first asking for a bail out the moment crap goes sideways. Its just a matter of time with this AI thing unless skynet gets us first.
    • I'm so conflicted with the Google Search AI summaries. On one hand I don't like how it's harming smaller websites by greatly reducing traffic which will harm us all in the long run but on the other hand those AI summaries often give me the information I'm after. I have never once clicked on 'show me more' though and never will.
    • Not a single company as small or large it may be is obligated to subsidize its products and sell them at a loss. Your way of thinking is socialist and as a West German with a German brother state but impoverished by state dictatorship and a socialist command economy situated to the East i can tell you - this kind of thinking very quickly leads to products not being produced anymore at all. EDIT: That does not mean that I find state support for social needs unreasonable. Quite the contrary. Together with solid workers' rights we exactly had exactly that in Germany for decades in the form of the Sozialstaat which was as the scandinavian social democratic very successful - until the number of people who drew from those resources dramatically increased (ironically a project of social democrat and green proponents).
