[Official] Crysis Warhead

Recommended Posts

the only thing that annoys me about warhead it the pop in is AWFUL! rocks and grass randomly appear like 2 feet in front of you and textures are really blurry then turn sharp right when you walk near them which is really not immersive. Crysis wasn't nearly this bad with pop-in (possibly because I played the 64 bit version though)

I had to change my shaders to gamer, turn off texture streaming and turn on 8x af just because it was getting so annoying.

Seems to be one of the 'optimizations'.

My Only complaint is that I went from 40-50 FPS on Gamer at 1600 resolution to a damn slideshow once everything went frozen, anyone else experience this? Is there one option in the advanced settings that could help speed things up a bit?

put the particles down to mainstream

Just tried running it at 1900x1200 on my Samsung 1080p and it wasn't that bad. I was averaging low twenties in some areas and mid to upper twenties in other areas while I had everything on Enthusiast with 8AAqx. It looked gorgeous! I'm not sure what I should exactly set it to to get a more consistent FPS when I'm playing on my TV, any suggestions?

My other question from before still stands "what is the difference between 8x and 8xq or whatever for AA? The q one drops the fps just a little lower than I would like so I normally just have 8x on. "

I haven't played warhead but at least on my monitor I decided to use 1680x1050 in the original game and that helped alot for the most part and it still looked very good. Maybe try the lower Res?

That or I'd drop the AA. Cant say I know off the top of my head what other settings there are to change but Res and AA tend to do a fair bit in most games.

I'll probably just kick it down to part gamer part enthusiast and try to leave the AA at 4x or 8x. Thanks anyways.

Runs great on the HD4850 :D Been playing like nuts. I average ~30fps on gamer mode.

2GB ain't cuttin it either...must upgrade to 4! It's crashing on me a lot as well :/ I'm gonna go ahead and blame that on the game since it was crashing a bit on my 7800 as well.

I haven't got around to purchasing this yet but now I'm scared off by EA's DRM (after the lawsuit). I thought all the anti-DRM was users (yet again) jumping on the band wagon, without knowing the real facts.

Do I go ahead and install Securom on my PC and user their uninstaller if need be?

The ice/snow level is a slide show but it's not as bad as it was in the original Crysis. I'm going to try to turn down the particle settings to see if that makes a difference.

Ok got it installed. Runs pretty poorly in the recommended setting.

How do I run CW in DirectX9 mode? :/

man i get a lot of crashing during loading/saving. i normally have to try and load 3x to get it going....ugh. needs a patch asap.

Alternatively, if you use the Games Explorer launch icon for Warhead, then you can right-click on that and select 'Play DX9' to launch the game in DX9 mode. If you want to always launch Crysis Warhead in DX9 mode just by double-clicking the icon in Games Explorer, then right-click on its icon, select Customize, highlight the 'PlayDX9' item and click the 'Move Up' button at the top right until 'PlayDX9' is at the top of the list, and click Close. Now the game will automatically run in DX9 mode whenever the icon is double-clicked. You can do the same for Crysis Wars.

Runs OK here, stability wise. Have you got the latest nV or ATi drivers?

    • Yup, broke my comp… again. its times like this when I regret AMD. This just never happens on NV.
    • Huh? You're delusional calling the Steam Deck dead. It is so successful that it has sold out multiple times. Even after the price hike this year it sold out again with 24 hours of being back in stock. The demand is real and has not died down even after four years.
