90 Minutes to Install Windows 98?

Recommended Posts

That's normal it takes on average 1.5 to 2 hours to install Windows 98.

Back in the day it used to drive me nuts, since I had to reinstall 3-5 times a week sometimes. Then XP came and what huge improvement it was, it only took 1 hour at most to install. Now Vista takes only 30 minutes to install on my system.

And still there are people who think Vista is terrible!

damn what were you installing it on a 286 with 8MB ram and 545MB Hdd

i never had win98 take more than 45mins to install

Not to get too off topic...but I can beat that. My first one was a 286 that ran at a blazing speed of 9.75 mhz. It had a huge 8 mb of ram and a whopping harddrive that had 100 mb of space. It came with msdos 4 and ran windows 3.11. God I loved dos shell and having to manually edit the autoexec.bat to allow windows to boot instead of dos.
Mine was an Amiga 600. Game, set, match. 750k 3 1/2 floppy discs. It was sold before I was born. (Also got a Spektrum 128k)

Damn, that puts the vice on my idea of installing 98 SE on my AA1... heh.
