[Official] Fallout 3 - DLC for 360/PC released!

Ok I understand. I've played the game for around 36hrs but it's funny that there are a couple things I didn't get, but I felt the game had a bit of a learning curve because there isn't really any in game tutorial going on. I went into that game completely uneducated which I like doing because it makes the experience more genuine, but sometimes it takes longer to get it down. I didn't use AP for like 5 or 6 hours into the game, I don't ever recall them telling you about it at all.

I hear you. I felt the same way when I first played Oblivion. A friend of mine wanted to try the game which I thought would be great but it seems that the learning curve left him hit or miss in some areas of the game so far.

I thought it was too short! I did all of the side quests, and it still didn't last half as long as Oblivion. Maybe that is not a fair comparison, but since it is Oblivion with a Fallout 3 skin, comparisons are going to be made.

And the closed ending, where you can't go back and explore, really sucks. I'm one of those people who can't play a game again after I have beat it.

It's was a great game, don't get me wrong. I just wish the game had more to it. At least it proved that people will actually buy pc games instead of stealing them for a change.

How many hours have people logged before finishing it?

I'm about 42hrs into it myself right now, still got a lot of side quests to do. :)

Pretty much the same, maybe few hours more. And I'm half way through main quests, and have some side quests left as well.

Plenty of locations to visit still though :p

Oh cool, pretty much the same as me, I've completed around 15 quests I think, but there's still plenty more to do.

Question for anyone:

How do I get power armor training??

I'm lvl 12 right now.

You need to find the brotherhood of Steel home.

Finished the game at about 30 hours at level 17. Not sure how much longer it'll last, but I think I'll go back and do some more side quests and exploring.

Keep going with the main story quests

managed to get done everything i set out to do in the game, so now i declare it finished for me. overall a great time, a few design issues i'd like a word with Bethesda over, but no biggie ;)

Fawkes is one of the bestest NPC's ever, i love the guy, and he proved very effective. after we finished the last quest i decided to undertake, i escorted him to the museum where apparently he wants to study, took one more look at the Wash Mem, Capitol, Linc Mem etc, saved and that was it. Actually quite touching, but i may just be getting overly sentimental in my older years.

just set goals for yourself - otherwise there's too much to do in this one, and much of it is pretty repetitive or samey. you'll know when you had enough. for me the achievements are great mostly because they structure the game better and help you set those goals, so you can feel you got your fill of the game.

Yea to find the brotherhood of Steel, you need to complete one of the main quests. The one dealing with the radio station.

Hmm, I've already done that quest like 20hrs ago, where is the brotherhood of steel home/base?

the main quest should take you there its after the jefferson memorial quest. the waters of life i think its called.

Oh ok, I've been doing lots of side quests lately, I do have the waters of life, I'll complete that next. Where exactly do I get the training though, or does it just come up in the story?

Just keep going.

Eventually, while you're on some errands in the Jefferson Memorial, the Enclave will arrive. You will then have to lead some scientists to escape, and you'll take a tunnel that leads you directly to the BoS Citadel, where you can get training for Power Armor.

Well I got power armor training finally, I notice you run a bit slower with that kind of armor on, which makes sense. I picked up some Tesla Armor which has energy weapons +10, making my energy weapons skill at 95 now when I use mentats :D

Good thing I have a laboratory at my house, I get addicted to something like every time I play the game haha

One complaint I have with Fallout 3, I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I think your armor and weapons conditions go down way too fast. I take it there's no way to stop that other than not to get damaged? lol

My repair skill is only about 50 right now, I definitely got to upgrade that more next time I level.

I kind of forgot to add more points to repair, I think it's extremely important.

Same here, I think my repair is in the 40's too.

    • Along with that and very unfortunate for Linux, the AI boom/tariffs/global supply chain instability really destroyed any chances of it getting a decent chunk of market share. By all accounts, if a Steam Deck was still available for $399 (with tons of alternatives releasing at $500-$800 - instead of $1500+ now) and the Steam Machine was out there for $499, I think a lot of people WOULD have been willing to try SteamOS and switch away from Windows. But yeah, with the crazy jacked up prices now, people have to make safe bets with their money.
    • Neowin hasn't been covering the Ladybird browser but it has been posted about on a lot of tech and Linux/open source sites. I have been following the effort myself for almost a year now. Cloudflare and Proton are among their sponsors. You can read the why here--> https://ladybird.org/#about
    • That's really the user's problem, not the developers. It's not like the Windows 10 EOL was a surprise. Once a product goes out of support, you have to understand YOU are owning the risk of running it - the rest of the world will move on, maybe you'll be OK, maybe you'll be OK for a while, maybe you'll have an issue.... But you can't expect devs to write or certify software for dead operating systems.
    • Not mentioned in this blog post is that Linux has now dropped for 2 months in a row. At a hight of 5.33% in March, then 4.52% in April and now 3.99% in May. I suspect the end of Windows 10 got a bunch of people to try Linux, fueled by all the Microsoft hate, and rabid social media push of that....and now they are going back to Windows 11 because of the normal Linux issues. The vast majority of PC gamers want to use their computers to game and not trouble shoot why a game wont work, or half work.
