[Official] Call of Duty: World at War

So is this game worth getting?

Single-Player is a huge hit or miss among gamers and Multiplayer is just Call of Duty 4 with new weapons, maps, skins and perks.

So it's hard to tell you since the opinions are so spread out, Call of Duty 4 was a 9/10, this is more like 7/10

frankly for me this is better value than COD4, there's a lot more meat to it. even the SP campaign was longer. the MP is largely the same, including the lag, i think that's like a legacy addition from COD1 on the PC - they can't bring themselves to NOT include lag.

Someone agrees with me :o

Had a lot of fun DL, Habnad and MassiveTerra (Y)

We should defo get together more often

Good games all round guys and sorry I had to leave so abruptly. Unannounced guests suck :hmmm:

Yeah man, no doubt good time!

My turn to apologize for leaving abruptly. Wasn't expecting the g/f to be coming home with dinner that fast.

Definitely will have to see if we can catch up later in the week.

I had a good time as well. Thanks for showing a noob the ropes. I finally got to create my classes. Can't wait to play again.

i think it takes longer now to level up than with COD4, does anyone agree? got to 55 last year in like a month playing a lot less than now. it seems to be taking much longer. not sure if that's a good or bad thing btw!

EDIT: brad, agree with you on what? made several points there

I thought it took longer to level up also.. But I think it just depends on the server you are on.. Which is funny because on some servers you get 50-300 xp per round then others you get 500-1500 a round.. I don't know if its just the difference in (a)the amount of people on the server or (b) game type or © Hardcore Mode or not.

Sorry I was not into playing it again later when I came back on, but I really wanted to check out Left 4 Dead for the first time, which wind up sucking because the guys we thought we were going to play with joined with one other person, which screwed us all up, so we only did it as 2 humans and 2 AI, so we wound up playing again COD with habnad but you were already gone.

We have to play some Zombie mode, habnad said you got to Level 20? The most we were able to get was 12.

Also we checked out Competitive CoOp last night, I liked it actually.

Started playing this earlier.

Never really got into COD4, but this is pretty fun. Rank 11 or 12 now I think.

Quite challenging for me mind you, I don't tend to finish high on the lists at all

Lol, don't think theres another video of that yet either, i know at first we were told they were thinking of adding the swimming element , well guess they did by accident :p

Anyone else finding Veteran difficulty brutal?

I completed both Call of Duty 2 & 4 on Veteran and it was fairly hard but this time around, it seems Treyarch was being deliberately obtuse when creating some of these encounters.

Some levels are a breeze but then all of a sudden you get some seriously messed up area where the AI shoots you before they even see you, smoke is ineffective, scripted grenades beside the ones the AI throw etc.

In the previous Call of Duty games the AI would throw just a few, very precise grenades at you constantly - Here they throw about a MILLION grenades at you, some of them land right on top of you and the rest in circle around you so escaping is next to impossible.

I will keep going but damn, feels like Treyarch didn't test out some areas in the game :|

Nice find bro (Y)...buuuut, could you kindly remove that before it starts getting exploited?

One thing I hate more than anything is people getting under maps. That beta Roundhouse glitch annoyed me and I'm sure a few others (I think even you) to no end. Took all the fun out of the game.

edit : nevermind, its out and known about. Just great...

so what if they can swim? they'll still get a facefull of lead when they come out. and it definitely takes longer to level up this time, the bonuses for winning are much lower - i mean on core 150 points even if you're like 20-11 and winner is paltry compared to last year, i think back then you could get 500 easy. ditto for challenge completion, most are 100-200 points, some less.

it doesn't matter which server you're on, although core/hardcore does make a small difference.

this isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just that they wanted us to play more.

as for veteran difficulty, i gave up on that with COD2...not worth the frustration, life is annoying enough, thank you. they always make it ludicrous, no matter who's the developer.

Hey about leaving DL its absolutely fine, don't stress (Y)

And yeah we got TO level 20 but could not finish it. It gets practically impossible at that stage there was four of us all with ray guns and back up machine guns but at that point the game decided to starve us of bullets completely so even if we had preserved all 160 ray gun bullets we still would not have made it past the round because there's so many of them and at level 20 it seems like its no longer a one hit kill with the ray gun plus they are so fast and tbh I really cant see it being done.

We should get a team together and try to tackle that.

But that is my best so far.

See thats the problem, IF they come out. They can still shoot up, and you cant shoot down at them or see them as easily. And i'm not the type of player to exploit glitches either. Shooting up from under a map is what I consider cheap kills. I'm by no means the best at the game (i'm lucky if im positive at the end of a round), but i wont go under a map to get kills.

Well, I managed to get the game for free ( https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=702054 ), so I'll be joining you guys shortly. I'll probably play a little of the single player just to get a hang of the weapons, but then I'm going to jump right into MP. Usually, I'll beat SP first, but I just wanted to play online while it's fresh.

    • Just install Linux Mint that is a real blessing and many times cheaper because you can continue using your old Windows computer/laptop with the latest Linux updates.
    • Interesting share -- however it does not make sense: Email messages get stored somewhere, so how is Delta Chat "based on email" and decentralized without actually storing anything? By Web3 standard practices, the various Relays would require dedicated storage to make messages available to the recipients (like a large series of message queue channels, akin to racks of traditional post office boxes)... and Contacts must be two-way confirmed in order for encryption keys to be exchanged (ostensibly every key-pair is uniquely bound between sender and recipient) and the Relays would preserve the public keys in order to facilitate message carriage... or every device stores all sorts of keys and contact info. All of this to say, decentralized messaging is like running Bluesky nodes except instead of discovering/browsing public feeds by various posters (at the given node) these Delta Chats would be relaying encrypted messages (via Relays) that only trusted recipients would have the appropriate decryption key (their own private key) to read it. But this doesn't solve the "it's like email" sales pitch. The only way it's like email is that there's encrypted binary stuff being transported from your app into the federated ether of Delta Chat Relays for others to decrypt (hopefully only the intended recipient)... but outside of this federated relays framework, it is absolutely nothing like email.
    • Hasleo Backup Suite Free 5.8.2.2 by Razvan Serea Hasleo Backup Suite Free is a free Windows backup and restore software, which embeds backup, restore and cloning features, it is designed for Windows operating system users and can be used on both Windows PCs and Servers. The backup and restore feature of Hasleo Backup Suite can help you back up and restore the Windows operating systems, disks, partitions and files (folders) to protect the security of your Windows operating system and personal data. The cloning feature of Hasleo Backup Suite can help you migrate Windows to another disk, or easily upgrade a disk to an SSD or a larger capacity disk. System Backup & Restore / Disk/Partition Backup & Restore Backup Windows operating system and boot-related partitions, including user settings, drivers and applications installed in these partitions, which ensures that you can quickly restore your Windows operating system once it crashes. Viruses, power failure, or other unknown reasons may cause data loss, so it is a good habit to regularly back up the drive that stores important files, you can at least recover lost files from the backup image files in the event of a disaster. System Clone / Disk Clone / Partition Clone Migrate the Windows operating system from one disk to another SSD or larger disk without reinstalling Windows, applications and drivers. Clone entire disk to another disk and ensure that the contents of the source disk and the destination disk are exactly the same. Clone a partition completely to the specified location on the current disk or another disk and ensure that the data will not be changed. File Backup & Restore Back up specified files(folders) instead of the entire drive to another location to protect your data, so you can quickly restore files(folders) from the backup image files when needed. Incremental/Differential/Full Backup Different backup modes are supported, you can flexibly choose data protection schemes, which can improve backup performance and save storage space while ensuring data security. Delta Restore Delta restore uses advanced delta detection technology to check the changed blocks on the destination drive and restore only the changed blocks, so it has a faster restore speed than the traditional full restore. Universal Restore This feature can help us restore the Windows operating system to computers with different hardware and ensure that Windows can work normally without any hardware compatibility issues. Hasleo Backup Suite 5.8.2.2 changelog: Improved creation of bootable media that supports the UEFI CA 2023 certificate Fixed an issue that caused system restore to fail Fixed an issue where file backup could not list drives under Windows ARM64 Fixed an issue that caused backup of MacOS files/folders shared via Samba to fail Fixed an issue that caused "Smart Backup" to not work properly Fixed other minor bugs Download: Hasleo Backup Suite 5.8.2.2 | 39.7 MB (Freeware) Links: Hasleo Backup Suite Website | Hasleo Backup Suite Guide | Screenshot Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware

    • I looked into a few echo devices to find they were riddled with adverts over time. No thanks ill stick to my homeassistant, smart plugs, smart bulbs and cameras that don't cost me a monthly fee and are cheaper to buy. No adverts also.
