15-Yr Old Faces Child Porn Charges

No, a young girl's life is ruined because she did something STUPID!

A young girl's life is ruined because of an absurd legal system. Honestly, are those prosecutors just in it for the money? The people who unknowingly received the images should sue the prosecutors if they indeed charge them.
Because of this, the girl basically will have a hard time getting into college, or even getting a job that requires any type of clearance or background check (like being a teacher)

There should be a law about this. How can you convict someone of something when they're not old enough to legally have sex?

@ +Echilon - What you just said makes absolutely no sense. 1) "How can you convict someone" ... you admit here there's a felony to convict against 2) When not legal - so what they are doing is illegal. So your question is: How can you convict someone of a felony act for doing something illegal? I think you want to give that more thought.

Surely the good people of Licking County would be more decent. I'm definately not making that my next tourist destination. They don't sound like fun people.

The problem here is common sense. When I was in Junior High, it was always a popularity contest. Whatever the pressure - drugs, alcohol, sex, fighting, etc. people would always succumb because they wanted to be closer to the center of attention. Taking a nude pic of yourself is sure to have some of the boys like you (more). Before cell phones and the Net were around, I'm sure others were already doing the same thing.

I think in this case the child porn charge is absurd given the consent angle and the fact she is 15. I think its more of a common sense thing. Although the law never looks at it that way. It would make every person in the HS who's seen the picture a Pedophile. Hardly, I think what the DA wants nor are ready to press charges about that many kids.

The problem is if you don't prosecute the Hell out of this stuff, then there are legal precedents. Organizations like NAMBLA shouldn't exist. They need whatever ammo to get this out of the way.

The smarter thing to have done is have a DA that actually *has* common sense. If charges were never pressed: 1) No story to make the news; 2) No charges to file; 3) No need for a court case or a plea; 4) If the court case is defeated then one less chance the pedos get prosecuted. Given the sickness of pedos, the DA should be the one going to jail for runing the system.

Because of this, the girl basically will have a hard time getting into college, or even getting a job that requires any type of clearance or background check (like being a teacher)

Actually this isn't true I myself have quite a lengthy juvenile record for stupid stuff I did as a kid (runaway, Grand Theft Auto for stealing mom and dads car, incorrigible (yes they can charge you with that), Domestic violence (fighting with sibling), theft (I stole some smokes...lol) and a few others I can't think of of hand), and it hasn't affected my adult life in any way.

In the U.S. juvenile records are sealed, and can be expunged. I could file the papers right now and have my records expunged, but really there would be no purpose except to cost me money, because as I said it hasn't affected my adult life in any way.
