[Official] Halo 3: ODST

Recommended Posts

It was incredibly, incredibly easy on Normal. I pretty much just leave all games to their default these days. While I am probably a better player than Normal with FPS's, when it comes to Campaigns, being my time is limited, I just want to play and enjoy them and be done with it, so I leave them as default as I do not necessarily need nor have the time for the challenge anymore. I am not even a big Halo player, I get spanked in MP, and I literally breezed through it never feeling challenged at all except for the very end part where there were a whole lot of guys at once, and even then I only had to die twice to beat it, and once was because I was being really stupid with the hammer guy. I wonder if it would have been the same experience if I just turned the notch up one. I will probably never know.

I thought that too, but restarted the campaign yesterday on Heroic and it is considerably harder, actually had to use my brain once or twice instead of doing the usual mindless running and gunning :p

they could have made it clearer that the checkpoints are not save points..i too lost two full stages, had to do uplift reserve all over and the one after.

the campaign is indeed good, the format where the rookie retraces their steps is oddly touching and introspective. and i know for a fact i will miss New Mombasa when all is said and done. it's like you're there even if it's not exactly interactive. the rookie soundtracks is also superb, very moody.

wouldn't play this on easy, heroic is more like it - somewhat of a challenge.

overall ODST is so far a worthy purchase in these lean times, but they could have done so much more with the MP.

So I have to say, this was by far my favorite flow for a Halo Game. I liked the semi Open World aspect. It works real well in this regards. Other games that have tried this approach, most notably Far Cry 2, and have failed miserably, but Bungie did it right, so thats cool.

(Y)

Normally I'm not too big on open world games, but it worked perfectly in this. I hope more FPS games take this concept. Far Cry 2's open world as just crap... ODST's just works. It would've been nice if more buildings were open, though.

As I played the game throughout the campaign I changed my mind completely about this game.

This is a quality release and a must have.

You digged The Rookie's OST too huh? It's a smooth criminal to listen to.

One achievement to go for the full thousand.

If you do go for the 30 Audio logs in co-op, you have to play all the flashback missions in order to get to data hive. If you quit out and select 'Data Hive' you loose the 29 you got first.

Deja Vu tommorow or Sunday.

I am up for Deja Vu.. I still want it. I heard about the triple 9 rockets. :D

If you want Sergeant Johnson you can drop him in to your hard drive, you need some way of connecting the hard 360?s drive to your computer such as the Microsoft Transfer Kit of Datel Xsata.

Here is the guide, worked perfectly for my friend.

Firefight is awesome, had a mini-LAN party at a friend yesterday. The difficulty is insane though, on easy you can go on forever without losing too much lives but on normal it get's so tough it's quite hard to even reach set 2 or 3.

btw, the stats on bungie.net are amazing, there's so much information, tables and ways to compare your scores to teammates.. really cool.

I agree, it was really tough. But we'll make it some day. :p

It was so much fun though. I can't remember having this much fun with Halo 3 on system link.

Anyone else think legendry is pretty easy on 4player co-op? I was expecting it to be a lot harder than it was... I think it took us about 4 and a half hours to finish it last night.

Agreed, easy really is too easy but great for getting the points achievements with ease.

Normal just gets very hard after a while, as for Heroic thats just stupid lol.

For the Vidmaster Challenge: Endure achievement we have made it about halfway though the second set, I don?t see myself getting that anytime soon!

V-99, the soundrack is very good for the rookie, i can just listen to that music and stare at the burning orbital elevator or the New Mombasa skyline for hours...they did a good job with the art design and world building.

but it's too freakin short. three days after buying it and already done. come on people! How's the campaign on legendary? Halo 3 was too frustrating for me on that setting, just gave up after a while. Heroic was just right. Is it the same this time?

But overall a surprisingly memorable excursion, i'd say 8/10, which is very good.

No. It's easy.

I share those same sentiments. These days even an 8 is good and this is without Master Chief.

tried firefight with an XBL friend just this morning, Lost Platoon on easy, i think 60K took like 40 minutes so i bailed...Firefight is cool but not that cool, and for the 10G ain't worth the time investment.

Slane - thanks for the encouragement, will give it a shot later today on legendary.

V-99: an 8 has always been good, not just for Halo games. it is 80% after all, that's pretty high.

Anybody got 200,000 points on a firefight stage for the achievement?

All of them.

Just do 4 player on Normal or even two player on normal and you can rack points up. For myself doing 4 player we were hitting 200k on Normal in the second set second round. Heroic we had 150ish by the end of the first set, so the first round of the second set we would have hit 200k. Haven't tryed it on legendary yet though.

Hitting all grunts with headshots and doing the same with jackals speeds up the process, so the only long killers you should have will be Hammer Brutes and Hunters.

Is there "campaign lag" when you play on LAN? Every time I've ever played H3 campaign, ODST campaign, or ODST firefight on XBL, there's been about a half second delay on anything I do, no matter how good the connection is (unless I'm host).

On the plus side, I finished campaign on my own on heroic yesterday. It wasn't that hard but I can't say that I just cruised right through it. I think this campaign sucked me in a lot more than the other Halo campaigns did though and I thought the soundtrack was superb.

Nope.. Been playing it on live with my friend and no lag...

    • ExplorerPatcher 26100.8457.70.3 by Razvan Serea ExplorerPatcher is a versatile and free tool that allows you to tweak and enhance the Windows Explorer. It comes with a range of useful features, including the ability to add new context menu items, change file name colors, and enable hidden features. Feature summary Choose between Windows 11 or Windows 10 taskbar (with labels support, small icons and lots of customization). Disable Windows 11 context menu and command bar in File Explorer and more. Open Start to All apps by default, choose number of frequent apps to show, display on active monitor and more. Choose between the Windows 11, Windows 10 and Windows NT Alt-Tab window switcher with customization. Lots of quality of life improvements for the shell, like: Skin tray menus to match Windows style, make them behave like flyouts and center them relative to the icon. Choose action when left and/or right clicking the network icon. Revert to the Windows 7 search box in File Explorer, or disable Windows Search altogether. Disable immersive menus and use mitigations that help you run the real classic theme without glitches. Discover the program's full range of features by reading this wiki article. ExplorerPatcher 26100.8457.70.3 changelog: Tested on OS builds 22621.4317, 22631.7079, 26100.6899, 26100.8037, 26200.8246, 26200.8457, 26300.8493, and 28000.2113. TIP: Windows Defender no longer flags ExplorerPatcher. It is no longer needed to configure Defender exclusions. Enjoy! Important Update for Windows Insider Users If you're running Windows 11 Beta build 26220.8474 or Experimental build 26300.8493, updating ExplorerPatcher is highly recommended. Microsoft has removed parts of the old Windows 10 Start menu from these builds, which caused ExplorerPatcher's Windows 10-style taskbar and Start menu to crash. This update fixes those issues and ensures Explorer starts correctly after future Windows updates. Because the required components are no longer included in Windows, the Windows 10 Start menu option has been disabled on these builds and future builds that lack the necessary files. A temporary workaround is to replace StartTileData.dll with a version from build 26xxx.8457, but this solution may stop working in future releases. The good news: development on the Windows 10 Start menu isn't over yet. More updates are planned. Highlights Fixed crashes affecting the Windows 10 battery flyout on Windows builds 25951 and newer. As part of that fix, network flyout buttons now behave like they did before Windows 11 version 24H2. Changes to the Primary taskbar location on screen setting now apply instantly without requiring a restart. ExplorerPatcher no longer modifies Windows 11 taskbar auto-hide settings when Explorer starts. The Open Start in All apps by default option is now hidden when the new Windows 11 Start menu is enabled. Fixed Windows 10 Start menu crashes on very early Windows 11 builds (21996–22000.51). Fixed a crash in Registry Editor when switching to thumbnail view during registry import/export operations. Improved compatibility with recent Windows builds, especially ARM64 and upcoming 26H1 releases. Improved overall ARM64 performance. Added Greek language translations. Thanks to @KonVetsos! ep_taskbar Improvements ep_taskbar now supports all 43 Windows 11 display languages. Fixed several issues in the system tray and other taskbar components. For mod developers: DLL naming has been simplified and made easier to understand. For mod developers: internal TrayUI changes provide better stability across Windows builds that use different taskbar implementations. Windows 10 Start Menu Improvements To help preserve compatibility, ExplorerPatcher now includes a newly recreated version of the tile layout engine that Microsoft removed in build 26xxx.8474. Current limitations: Tiles may occasionally overlap when pinned in certain ways. Restarting StartMenuExperienceHost.exe or Explorer usually corrects the layout. Further improvements are planned. Additional Fixes Added a blacklist that prevents ExplorerPatcher's shell extension from loading inside specific applications where it may cause problems. Updated Windows 10 Start menu animation support for newer ARM64 Insider builds. Fixed a rare taskbar initialization deadlock that could occur during startup. Start10 Updates Addressed a new compatibility issue caused by Microsoft's ongoing removal of tablet mode code in Windows 11 25H2 Experimental builds. Pinned tiles are no longer reset after repeated crashes. Various wording and interface text improvements throughout the application. Translation and UI Several interface strings have been cleaned up and clarified. Thanks to @sefinek for wording improvements. Please consult the README for more details.
