GTA IV for PC (official)

Good question, can't even share a steam account - so isn't it pretty much pointless?

You can decrypt Steam GCF files so theoretically you could just extract the .exe from Steam version and voila instant crack for all versions.

I was getting around 20-26 fps outdoors and a good 35 indoors, until the game crashed :p

it was some random error i think, vista just said the game needed to be closed

also does anyone have weird problems with the outdoor lighting in the day? the light keeps flickering, like someone keeps hitting the on & off switch continuously

Your graphics drivers up-to-date?

yea, the manufacturers site is showing 8.512.0.0, which is the one i have

8.512.0.0 drivers are from July, ATI hav had newer ones since then released on the 12th November, unless you have an older card?

Ugh! I just bought it on STEAM. I got pwned though. As of right now, $49.99 USD = $63.47 CAD. :(

EDIT: How long does it take for the download to start?

I noticed that my shadows look really "grainy." Has anyone noticed anything like this? I've posted a couple screenshots, sorry about the size, I just wanted it to be really visible. The second image makes it look really visible when you view the full image.

Yup and no pre-loading, woop!

Why is it that big?

The 360 version would've been half the size of that.

Is it totally just down to large resolution of the textures? Or is there added content?

Yeah pretty much. Does have expanded multiplayer features and I quote from the features list on steam;

"New high resolution technology brings Liberty City to life with even more stunning graphical detail", so I do think higher resolution textures is the main reason.

Doubt the video editor would add much?

What do you mean it has to do with the engine?

The graphics engine of the game, the way it streams the game, just causes 'grainy' looking shadows. Can't give you a long technical developer explanation because I don't have any. But grainy shadows and backdrops is one of the quirks with the GTA Rage engine.

EDIT: Just released and speed ain't too bad :)

    • And none of them have a "notchless" 3:2 OLED screen, for which I was always willing to pay more.
