WTF I started downloading and then left expecting it to be done when I got home, I came back and it said "download starting" and its only at 33% now.. damnit I was really hoping to play tonight. I am only getting 600 kbps too and I can usually pull 1 mbs off of steam.

I did the same and it happened to me too. I think it stops downloading when the screen goes off. Because it was downloading for 5 hours and it got to 45% and now when I got home I restarted steam and it continued downloading but now in one hour it got from 45% to 77%.

Hopefully I'll try it out tonight.

I read that GTA4 has SecuROM.. does the Steam release for GTA4 use SecuROM as well? I know FC2 had "third party DRM" listed on the Steam website, but there's nothing there for GTA4

SecuROM is just hurting legit users like me. Because of it I don't have any plans on buying Crysis Warhead, FC2, Bioshock (just to name a few)

Yes, steam version has SecuROM too. I found a way around my problem, just had to disconnect the Internet while playing, which also means no saving :rolleyes: Oh well, got to try the game and so far so good.

Here's my benchmark stats;

2qapqbm.png

It just won't change Texture Quality for me, it's stuck at Medium :blink: Though the difference between the higher levels of Render Quality are negligible. "High" looks exactly the same as "Highest", so no point in suffering the FPS hit. Moving around the other sliders like Shadow, view distance etc. the changes aren't that big actually - A few extra pixels here and there but the game was pretty much made to look the same on most rigs with just a few bits and bobs removed on the lower settings.

Yeah, does seem a bit weird.

Oh another weird thing? Why would lowering the resolution cut make the game run slower?!

See above results and compare 'em to these;

That's a first for me :rofl:

EDIT: Required a restart to get back on track, now I'm getting 40 FPS with the above settings - My sweet spot!

Yikes, I hope I don't run into any issues. I'm already worried that my rig might not handle GTA IV at high settings. For what it's worth, here's what I have:

Intel Core2Duo E6750

ASUS P5K

4GB DDR2-800 RAM

ATI Radeon HD 4870

Acer 22" WS LCD monitor (1680x1050 native)

Yeah so Logged out of Social Club and I was able to play the game. I have to cut it short cause I have to go to work tomorrow morning, but so far it looks like a pretty nice game.

Couple of notes, their Serbian is bad, and I cant understand why is his brother Roman listening to Russian songs in the car where they are both Serbian. Oh well I guess I am really nitpicking.

I guess I'll need an SLI setup to play the game at 1080p but so far it runs at playable Frame rate so I wont complain. VRAM usage is at 427.

I'll play some more tomorrow.

Cheers

yeah the graphics look pretty cool. i want to get that game. i have san an though which is really cool.

Yeah Graphics look cool. With HDR and reflective surface enabled it's really nice. Hopefully they'll be able to smooth out some of the bugs with couple of patches.

you have to online to save? what the hell?

No you dont need online connection to save. Someone posted that on some of the forums I visited to resolve the bug, but they were not right. You need Social Club Login only to play online and I think to save videos.....

Indeed. GTA: San Andreas was fun on the PS2 and even more fun on the PC. I literally spent hours and hours playing that game. I just never got bored of it. Heck, I'd play it right now if I still had it. Hopefully, I'll soon say the same about GTA IV.

What a coincidence. GTA IV runs on Natural Motion's Euphoria animation engine. Hence your alias, hahaha.

Not in the Steam version apparently, you need to be online there to save.

    • After enabling it in about:config, customize, density, compact; the toolbar/address bar gets smaller vertically. I enabled Nova, I notice the tab bar/title bar is a bit larger vertically now? Everything always becomes a waste of space.
    • Microsoft's Copilot Cowork now generally available with usage-based billing by Pradeep Viswanathan Back in March, Microsoft first revealed Copilot Cowork, a new agentic AI experience in Microsoft 365 Copilot through which users can assign tasks to AI to complete in the background. After testing the service with a limited set of customers in Research Preview for a few weeks, Microsoft announced the general availability of Copilot Cowork to customers in the Frontier program on March 30. Today, Microsoft announced the general availability of Copilot Cowork worldwide for Microsoft 365 Copilot customers. The company also highlighted that Cowork became the fastest-growing feature in the history of its Frontier program. Unlike regular Copilot Chat, Copilot Cowork can run complex, long-running, multi-tool tasks from start to finish in the cloud by using organizational context through Work IQ. When compared to Claude Cowork, Microsoft claims that Copilot Cowork will be 30% to 40% cheaper on average with its Microsoft 365 connector. For now, Copilot Cowork runs on Anthropic models, including Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 4.6. However, Frontier customers can now use GPT-5.5. Microsoft also announced Cowork 1, a secure fine-tuned model coming in the next few weeks, which is designed to handle everyday Copilot tasks at a lower cost. To access Copilot Cowork, a Microsoft 365 Copilot user subscription is required. Usage is billed separately through Copilot Credits, based on model use, context retrieval, tool calls, and runtime. Pay-as-you-go pricing is set at $0.01 per Copilot Credit. To offer IT teams full control over usage costs, Microsoft provides spending limits, usage alerts, user-level controls, reporting, and prepaid usage plans for organizations. Usage-based billing begins today. However, Frontier customers who used Cowork between March 30 and June 16 will not be billed until July 1, 2026. The Microsoft 365 Copilot app now includes a toggle to enter the full Cowork experience. Microsoft is also adding partner plugins, with Enosix, Harvey, LSEG, Miro, monday.com, Moody’s, Morningstar, S&P Global Energy, and TeamsMaestro available now. Adobe, Atlassian, Box, Canva, Databricks, and others are coming soon.
