GTA IV for PC (official)

Low/Medium.

I have a 3ghz C2D, 2 gigs ram, 512mb 9600GT and I get less than 25fps even when all settings are on low. Putting settings higher doesn't seem to make much improvement to the graphics though, theyre always quite jagged and fuzzy.

Benchmark is rather useless, it always gives around 10fps more than you get ingame.

I guess I'll pass on getting this game until they optimize this game better for the PC.

Yea. It really is such a shame, the game itself is one of the best I've ever played but it's just ruined by all the technical problems. The multiplayer could be good, but its laggy (there arent any dedicated servers for it) and cheating is so ridiculously easy to do.

Why couldn't they have let Valve do the port, then the game would be perfect :(

i think thats a result of a mod

yep, I used a trainer to let me reset the car's health (without fixing the car's appearance) and a teleporter to put myself and the car on a very tall building.

Then it's just a matter of letting gravity take it's course.

I get the BSOD's as well, but w/e.

On the revenge mission (the one after the wedding) when I am climbing onto the helicopter after jumping off the bike it tells me to hit the "space bar repeatedly", I hit my space bar as fast as I can and I can't get in. What's going on?

This game has a huge memory leak issue for Vista, I hope they fix the RESC10 (Not enough video memory, Please restart) error in the 1.0.3 patch, if that patch ever happens.

I get about 3 hours of play in before the game starts stuttering every now and then, and after about 5 hours or so, if you ever hit "ESC" after around that time it will crash the game and give me the error: "RESC10 - Not enough video memory, Please restart your system"

My system runs it fine up untill a few hours into the game....E8400 @ 4.1GHz, GTX 260 216 overclocked to 720/1440/1107

Has anyone else had this issue here and been able to fix it?

You need to disable video capture and add a restrict memory command, then it'll work just fine ( The restrict memory command I can't remember, find a guide and see which numbers you have to add, corresponding with your amount of RAM )

I found the command for high textures...also is there a storage garage / houses to buy in this game like in previous versions of GTA? I just started playing, and haven't ran into any yet.

Those are some impressive results. The most I've reached in the benchmark is 35 FPS. As for your issue, I haven't run into it at all. I honestly don't know how to fix it.

I use Simple Native Trainer and Handheld Teleport Device via the .NET ScriptHook (using xliveless to load that)

Edit: Yeah, toggle tank mode on and off (F1) to give the car 300 health, after a while you won't be able to drive it at all but that's what the + and - keys are for.

I haven't touched the game since it first launched (PC) and I completed it. Has performance really drastically improved? I was struggling to play it on even the lowest settings (playable, but barely).

    • In what way is any of what I said incorrect? To install an update you need to close all browser instances, upping it from once a month to once a fortnight is an inconvenience for users. Particularly when updates don't offer functionality that users want (notably copilot). Security updates should come as they are needed, not on a release schedule
    • Dopamine 3.0.6 by Razvan Serea Dopamine is an awesome free audio player which tries to make organizing and listening to music as simple and pretty as possible. Dopamine has been designed for Windows 7, Windows 8.x and Windows 10 and plays mp3, ogg vorbis, flac, wma and m4a/aac music formats quite well. The best part? It's created by long-time Neowin member, Raphaël Godart. If you’re looking for a music player to handle a large music collection, you should definitely give Dopamine a try. Dopamine 3.0.6 changelog: Fixed Manually edited album covers are overwritten on the next collection refresh Fixed AppImage package not working on modern GNU/Linux distributions Deleting song from playlist sometimes fails Playback controls only work when clicking on upper half of the buttons It's unclear that files must be tagged with an external ReplayGain scanner (for example rsgain) before normalization can take effect.
