i booted my xbox up around 4 and got the update. im loving it and already installing gow2 on the hd. I like that if you are streaming music and start the install the music continues playing. (Y)

Exactly what I have said about this update. There are a ton of "little touches" added all around to make for a much better experience overall.

finally got in, now i just got to find out how to switch profiles, as my RoomMate has his profile on my 360

installed

GTA

Gears Of War 2

Fable 2

Rock Band 2

Bad Company

em im just mad that microsoft bsed me. I told the lady on the phone and she said "we will update your account with your new console id so if your accepted, it will download the update.

Thats it. And i was outside, i wasnt like angry that i didnt get the update, just ms ****ed me over.

I'd hardly call not getting an update 5 days before 99% of people getting "****ed over", it's more of an unfortunate consequence. November 19th is going to be the biggest event in the history of Microsoft's gaming studios, they've got a LOT to deal with other than one single user who happened to have a dodgy console that got repaired a few days ago. If you want the NXE that much, just download one of the leaked ones.

Im not risking downloading a leaked one. Friend bricked his console.

Also, they only ****ed me over because THEY SAID they would update. I constantly told her "if you guys cant, its fine, but if you can that will be great"

Not only that, i think live was down in my area when i was connecting becuase it took forever to finally join and was lagging and just now I tryed signing in and cant. Called support and they said many customers are having issues connecting to live.

So taht means it must of been a bad convincedence. I can wait, I dont wnat ot but I can wait until tuesday, only thing is, right when that clock turns 12 on tuesday, there goes 31646156351 users trying to update at once. I just hope i dont get lagged out.

Well not trying to disappoint you but I wouldn't keep your hopes up for a smooth download on that one.

Don't forget, every "patch Tuesday", MILLIONS of PC's all over the world connect to Windows update and download patches far above and beyond the size of the NXE without a problem. I'm sure Microsoft has plenty of bandwidth for the new update.

The last dash update wasn't an issue either (Live DID go down some time after that, but that was nothing to do with the update, just the sheer amount of people on the service itself), so I wouldn't worry about that.

As for your friend, well, I don't know how on earth they managed to brick their console, dodgy leak or not, I'd take what they said with a grain of salt. Hell, when I updated my 360 earlier, it reset half way through the update (I switched AV channels on my monitor, which for some reason caused the 360 to restart, mid-update - and by mid-update, I mean mid-UPDATE, not download) and when I reset it, it just told me there was still an update to apply, which it installed fine.

Awesome update. ONLY problem, not sure if anyone else is having this... everything in the guide is very blurry. Someone look at the guide font and pictures and then go to the actual menu, select your game library and look at the difference. The main menu is SO sharp.

em i dont have to take what he said as a grain of salt as Ive seen his xbox. We had to reflash it with the old dash to get it working again. The support helped us with that.

Well the representative was cool about and he basically gave my friend a chance and said "alright lets not go this again or no one will help you and warranty wont cover it".

After this he sent us a local microsoft ftp link to the old dash, he said burn it to the cd and put the cd in.

After we did that, the xbox started to run the dvd drive and started "updating".

After about a few minutes it restarted and we had the old dash back.

It was amazing.

That's pretty impressive and interesting, it sounds like the 360 hadn't really been updated at all, just corrupted. It's also the only report I've heard of this, or the ability to "roll back". Your friend should count himself lucky.

I'll be expecting a few bricked 360's come this Christmas, there always is with big updates like this.

Yes thats why the support guy gave us the link. He basically hinted its what they use when they get in bricked consoles.

So i was like "ok thanks man". He said if any of you guys that dont have bricked console and will officaly update, if this happens, call me back and ill give you the link to the new update.

and i was just speechless. So hopefully if it does brick my console, i got backup. Also, his 360 was fine, it just rolled back to dash from new dash. And yes my friend does count himself lucky, he isnt considering anything anymore.

We are a group of people that understnad wear and tear on cd's so he's been looking to backup his legally owned copies forever and i told him dont do it, just put a d skin sleeve on it. He said no becuase he shouldnt have to put a protective sleeve on it, microsoft should just fix the drive, but we all know that wont happen.

But yeah, now hes not considering it anymore haha

    • YouTube has finally brought back its DMs feature, but only in these countries by David Uzondu Late last year, YouTube started testing a "new" way to share videos directly with friends, without having to leave the app. Now, the video giant has announced that is now rolling out a revamped direct messaging inbox, which lets you share videos, Shorts, and live streams and have conversations about them, directly on YouTube. The platform limits this feature to 18+ users who are signed in to a verified channel and use the latest mobile app version. Direct messaging on YouTube first became a thing back in 2017 inside the mobile app (later renamed to "Messages"), where users could chat one-on-one and share clips directly, but all that came to an end on September 18, 2019, when Google decided to shut it down after giving users a month to download a .zip file archive of their past chats. No one really knows why YouTube killed the feature, but users were encouraged to migrate to the public Comments section, on Community tab posts, and via YouTube Stories. The previous incarnation suffered from moderation challenges, prompting Google to implement stricter safety guidelines and age verifications for this new iteration. Here's a list of the countries where the re-launched feature is currently available, though note that Brand Accounts do not have access to it, at least for now: Countries American Samoa Austria Belgium Brazil Bulgaria Croatia Cyprus Czech Republic Denmark Estonia Finland France Germany Greece Guam Hungary Iceland Ireland Italy Latvia Liechtenstein Lithuania Luxembourg Malta Netherlands Northern Mariana Islands Norway Poland Portugal Puerto Rico Romania Singapore Slovakia Slovenia Spain Sweden Switzerland U.S. Virgin Islands United Kingdom United States Before you can use the feature, you first have to send an invite link to your contact. Invite links expire exactly seven days after you create them. If the person on the other end accepts the invite, you can exchange videos directly and text back and forth inside the app. To delete a message, just long-press on the message and tap unsend to remove it for both users. You can also delete entire conversations by long-pressing the thread and selecting delete, but the other person will continue to see the chat history on their end. To make sure everything remains safe, YouTube monitors these messages to ensure they follow Community Guidelines.
    • The problem of course is simply that government does not always know best. My point is that agency is taken away from the EU consumer in these cases. I'm sorry, but I do not believe that governments (politicians) are inherently good, and "looking out for me." Primarily they look to themselves and their own personal desires first, foremost, and always. When the EU or the DOJ fines these companies, claiming to "represent the welfare of the consumer," how much of these billion-dollar judgments are handed to the consumers they claim to represent? Not even a dollar, as I've seen. Yet the EUC lawyers who are paid to sit around and dream up these suits make huge commissions on the fines the EUC adjudicates, which is an ironclad fact I hope everyone is aware of. It's also rank corruption, of course, but that's another topic. Last, when the EU inflicts these judgments, or the DOJ, take your pick, the costs are bundled right along in the cost of the goods and services these companies provide the consumers they are "looking out for." If you are someone who believes his government is his savior then you have my condolences. I think Apple is right here, because the whole scheme of consumer choice is that consumers pick and choose among the products companies offer. Microsoft Windows is more compatible with third party software and hardware than any desktop OS on Earth, which is my sole reason for choosing it. Just because the EUC forces companies do certain things it knows the companies do not want to do, "or else", has no bearing on consumer benefit. This Siri thing is almost idiotic it's so infantile. But this is what the EUC does when the EU in Brussels becomes cash-strapped and needs a big infusion of cash. Some people get upset by "big companies" but it's the opposite when governments dwarf the size and scope of these companies, which is so obvious it hurts.... I mean you can't honestly believe that forcing Apple to do things with Siri it has its own reasons to decline is something that "opens up" Apple, do you? Say it aint' so...
    • Looks like many years since the request was made, a directory tree view finally may be added. https://github.com/files-community/Files/pull/18537
    • Is it still super slow or has it improved on that area?
    • There's this from last year https://gist.github.com/threat...364659a8887841aa43deca4efd9 but nothing about a buffer overflow that MS somehow can't code against. No matter what, it makes sense to take a "protected by default" approach.
