NVIDIA Geforce 180.48 WHQL (BIG BANG II) RELEASED!

Seems to have made a small impact for me playing Crysis Warhead (1280x1024) with 8xAA and everything set to Enthusiast. Averaging at least 5+ FPS. I never tested Fallout 3 extensively before the update but I just used Fraps while playing with everything set to full (AA and AF) and my FPS stays at a constant 60. Definitely need to hook it back up to the TV to check the 1080p performance (1900x1080).

I don't understand that, so nothing new for my 8600 GT ? ..It's only been a year or something since I got it :(

download the driver and extract it

then download moded inf

and put it in the same location as the driver files

overwrite if asked

then install , it should work

Meh, probably waste of time for me to update. I'm guessing the performance increase is only for SLI setups? since this update seems primarily focused on that. Doesn't matter, my single GTX 260 is doing quite well despite my weak CPU holding it back

nah it is for non SLI too

Oh ok, that's alright. Perhaps I will install them then (since the only reason I was going to skip them was cause I thought the performance increase for was SLI only), since I have a few games on that list. Hopefully it will fix FarCry 2, it runs well just the frame rate drops really low for no apparent reason sometimes :/ maybe these drivers will fix it...

Extract? It's an executable...
The main setup is nothing more than an extraction program.

If you pay attention, you'll see it extracts files to C:/NVIDIA/<version>.

Therefore, if you have WinRAR, you can right click to extract files.

Any reviews yet? I am interesting in seeing some performance results.

BTW I uninstalled the Phyx before I installed this driver last night. Everyone else do that also? Or was I suppose to leave it installed?

Updated drivers. Working flawlessly. Far Cry 2 is discernibly faster.

which version were you using previously?

yeah im not sure about that either. my guess is that it's ok to leave the drivers.

I remove the Physx because i noticed, when i removed the Physx from the old 178 or something drivers and whent to the 180.43 beta ones the Physx drivers 'upgrade' from 8.09 to 8.10 version, so i always remove the Physx to get in any Physx upgrades to the software there might of been otherwise i guess it just skips it.

    • Microsoft released new Defender update for Windows 11, 10, Server ISO installations by Sayan Sen Microsoft releases new Windows Defender update packages very frequently to protect against various newly discovered malware. Once a while every three months or so, the company also pushes out these updates to Windows images (WIM and VHD) and ISOs, that are used to install Windows. Hence with the newest Windows 11 update available via the official MCT tool, you should get these definitions. This update package is necessary as a Windows installation image may contain old, outdated anti-malware definitions and software binaries. Aside from better security, these updates can also provide improved performance benefits in some cases. When a new Windows installation is set up, there may be a temporary security risk due to outdated Microsoft Defender protection in the OS installation images. This happens because the antimalware software included in these images might not be up to date. Thus Microsoft says that these updated definitions essentially help close this protection gap. Microsoft delivered the latest security definitions for Windows images via security intelligence update version 1.445.323.0. The Defender package version is also the same. It applies to Windows 11, Windows 10 ESU, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021, Win 10 Ent LTSC 2019, Win 10 Ent LTSB 2016, Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server 2016. Microsoft writes: "This package updates the anti-malware client, anti-malware engine, and signature versions in the OS installation images to following versions: Platform version: 4.18.26040.7 Engine version: 1.1.26040.8 Security intelligence version: 1.447.236.0" From Microsoft's security bulletin, we learn that the security intelligence update version 1.447.236.0 was released early last month and adds threat detections for various malware like trojan, backdoor exploits, ransomware, stealers, AutoKMS, and more. For those wondering, the latest intelligence update is version 1.451.297.0 at the time of writing.
