NVIDIA Geforce 180.48 WHQL (BIG BANG II) RELEASED!

I actually went from 16990 to 15331 in 3d Mark. Nothing changed other than the driver so i have to disagree with the performance gain.

I saw a drop as well, though not as dramatic as that. Only about 100-150 points in 06 on my 9600gt. Not quite sure about about actual games yet, though.

I guess it's all false advertising from nVidia to shout that those Big Bang drivers increase the performance THAT much. From the numbers on Anandtech, seems clear that we are nowhere close to "much better" performance.

AMD can rest, the 4870 / 4870X2 are still the best for the money.

Still no output from the HDMI port on my laptop with these drivers (been a problem since 176x series of drivers) and since installing these I've had my first Vista BSOD ever.

It could be because these drivers are not meant for your laptop, by hacking the inf file your installing them at your own risk. You tried checking the website for your laptop's manufacturer, to see if newer drivers are released? the 9500M GS in my Asus laptop is still running on 2007 drivers, Asus can't be stuffed updating them :p

Hey, I'm having a problem installing these drivers to my 8600 GT.

I used the Modded INF from here and while installing the drivers this error comes up:

"Setup cannot copy the file nvdispsr.dll "

How can I reslove this ?, thank you :)

I'm absoloutly sure that's the problem but I'm still going to complain about it. I'm fairly used to these types of issues having used hacked drivers for notebooks for about 8 years.

bad download mybe ? check the size of the file

I have my doubts but are these claims true that the 260 GTX beats the 4870?

the new GTX 260 though (the 216 or whatever it's called?) the original one (the one I have personally) *might* be a touch faster* with these drivers but still be lagging behind the 4870.

* = this depends on your system config, on mine the CPU is holding it back (plus it's only using a PCI-e 1.0 connection, not 2.0), so the increase is maybe an extra 1 or 2 fps in some games if I'm lucky :p.

    • How backwards can you have it? Yes, Linux was gaining because of Linux handhelds and the push for gaming compatibility, but that's not desktop users, it barely converts anyone who owns a SteamDeck, though it helps for those who wanted to do it, but anyways, the AI+RAM debacle helped Linux because people can't easily upgrade their PCs easily and many hate AI so they'd be incentivized to try Linux.
    • 🤦🏻‍♂️ No, expected because 10 EOL
    • Dude, it's a .reg away from a permanent modification. If you're a power user, look it up and keep the .reg and stop being a crybaby expecting MS to include customization for everything on a generalist OS. The default is what's the best UX for the majority of the userbase, non techie people.
