  1. 1. Should it be allowed to bunny hop in FPS games?

    • Yes. Move however you want in order to survive

Old skool Counterstrike was riddern with bugs like bunny hopping, pain in the arse when someone can travel around the map super fast and is a pain to hit. Id quite happily give bad rep on xbox for hacking if i deemed it was like that, but now days ive not seen true bunny hopping on xbox yet.

It still don't know why do so many people complain about it. If you don't like people jumping in an fps game, go play a game where no jumping is allowed.

It's like cod 4 perks, they're in the game for a reason, banning people just because they don't play as you expect it's just childish. It's not even an exploit or anything like that.

I take it you are a bunny hopper?

In anycase, bunny hopping is annoying. It is especially annoying if it is a hop followed by an instant prone. Sometimes the people are easy to kill while bunny hopping, sometimes not. It just looks stupid.

When was the last time you saw someone in an actual gun-fight (war, criminal activity, etc) jumping around like a jack-russell terrier??? To me, it doesn't work in real life, it barely works in games, and quite frankly its a cheap thing to do.

I'm a happy hopping bunny mofo in Urban Terror,

For games where realism is expected, such as CoD series, AA, anything with Tom Clancy in the name, yes I am comparing to real life. Jumping in these games would get you killed in the same real-life situation, whereas if I was in a free-for-all deathmatch tourney with horribly dressed combatants and mine-shooting guns (anything Quake or Unreal) then I might be inclined to jump for *^%#s and giggles.

It's a videogame. They aren't realistic. Period. CoD and Tom Clancy games aren't even close to realistic. They pretend to be realistic, but they aren't, mainy because they're videogames and if they were truly realistic, they really wouldn't be that much fun. I mean, if you look at games at base level, CoD and GoW have the same gameplay mechanics - use a bunch of cover and take out the enemies from behind said cover. CoD isn't really more realistic than GoW. The only difference is that you're shooting humans in one and locust in the other. Bunny hopping is annoying and all, I'll give that (I don't do it myself), but you can't say anything against it about being unrealistic in a videogame.

For realistic games bunny hopping probably shouldn't be there but it's the developer who has to stop it. Gamers should use whatever game mechanics are there in order to play.

For other non realistic games I don't mind bunnyhopping. I don't do it, but I think for games such as Quake, Unreal or whatever it adds a level of depth to the game. Sure, if an expert plays a new user the new user will be annihilated but thats life and I don't believe new users should necessarily be able to mix it with pros by removing more advanced features. People should just go to a server that matches their ability and perhaps over time they can learn to integrate bunny hopping into their game style if they want.

I think some of the trick jumping I saw in Quake 2 vids was extremely cool personally.

If my knowledge of game history is correct, bunnyhopping only truely existed in the Quake engine, where by a flaw in the movement code allowed a player to travel at a faster speed by gaining velocity while in the air.

As such, it was an actual exploint and iD patched it in the Quakeworld engine, so what people may call "bunnyhopping" in other games is actually just "People jumping around like retards". I may be wrong though.

You guys are all talking about how it ain't real. You think COD4 is realistic? IF you want realism shouldn't you play a simulator? I think we all agree that these are games where the fun factor overcomes realism. I don't see it as an exploit because I can kill bunny hoppers and on the "good" servers I get killed when I try and fail to avoid shots.

Clearly what I think it is is it's a noob rule. I notice this rule almost always on Hardcore servers, and hardcore gameplay is easier to play than normal because it's more "realistic".

I'm a happy hopping bunny mofo in Urban Terror,

Oh yeah, I played that for 7 years and before that I played Action Quake 2 but not a lot, I was fairly a noob in the latter but it was still fun strafe jumping + bunny hopping.

where by a flaw in the movement code allowed a player to travel at a faster speed by gaining velocity while in the air.

i dont think it was flaw...but rather concious design decision.

it really depends on a game. It works well on older games like q3,q2 and stuff.

but in more recent games it doesnt work as well. besides jumping nowadays doesnt get you faster anywhere.

i kind of miss q3 type games :D

In COD1/2 what worked great was jump + prone but that eventually turned out as being an exploit I think, so it got "fixed" in some patch, but we kept doing it :D

I hated those days so much!

It was a big thing on Battlefield too (N)

I see bunny hopping as a cheap tactic. I'd prefer it if people didn't do it, but I can't really say much since I do it myself a fair bit...

Ah yeah, people were mapping the jump + prone to hotkeys because it was such a good tactic to avoid being shot.

To everyone complaining about realism: in reality you can die from one shot, and I'd like to see you keep moving at the same pace after a single bullet to the leg. Does that mean the developers of a game should make it that you have to limp after getting hit once, or possibly even die depending on where you get hit? Shut up about realism - if you want realism you need to go the whole distance, not pick and choose what counts as realism and what doesn't. Complaining that people jumping up and down constantly isn't 'real' and judging them for it is childish.

My team cuts people up for jumping in COD5. All I hear from them after the round is "this isn't halo! Stop jumping!" Minus a few curse words. I do whatever it takes to kill an enemy, and whatever it takes to survive. I really love the jumping out of a window / building while shooting.. I am famous for that!

This is a true story on COD4. We had a friend join our room (we had 9 already) and he messaged one of our guys to tell us not to shoot him (this was on crossfire). and he came out in the middle of the stage jumping up and down like a rabbit, not actually firing at us, and none of us shot at him either. So the team on his side was saying "how are you not getting killed", and he said "it's a glitch, if you jump up and down, they can't kill you". So 2 of there guys start doing the same thing, and we just picked them all off LOL

I laughed so hard at this, purely because I can see it working like a charm

And as for bunnyhopping I find it is easier and more gratifying to shoot someone who decides to make himself look like a dick by doing something that provides no real benefit and shows complete lack of tactical thinking.

Bunnyhop or not you are still just a bag of digital flesh.

Hahaha, digital flesh :p

I dislike those friggin bunny hoppers. Also, I hate it when people say that camping is cheating too, NO, camping is a legitimate strategy in war games.

Like others, I was more of a strafer when I used to play online multiplayer, I play local multiplayer and I usually am the Cannon Fodder for my team mates to get aim :p

"this isn't halo! Stop jumping!"

My opinion exactly.

Hopping is a crime, especially in FPS games. It's not only impossible to kill someone with Jordan sneakers, but it is also unrealistic. I'd like to see a soldier in Iraq do that... he/she would be dead in a fraction of a second.

There's a difference though...

One is a GAME.

The other is REALITY.

Please remember to seperate these two things.

I just bunnyhop when I played WoW, and just because I was bored.

Like I said, just because you find it annoying doesn't mean you have to blame the players, blame the developers for making such things possible.

By the way, any game wanting to be "realist" wouldn't let that happens, CoD are arcade-like game, tbh

YES YES YES YEEEESSSS!!!! I want a game like that. If you get shot in the leg and fall you should still be able to shoot from the ground. Shot in the arm = shoot from the other arm with less accurate aim, get shot in that arm = shoot from the hip. You can still bunny hop but it will be like 'Red Orchestra' where fatigue kicks in after a while.

    • Looks like no official TBW rating, which should be a required listing in my opinion for sites like Amazon (hell, put it on the box too.)
    • I think I understood the article fine. Online password managers open users up to more possibilities of getting hacked, and due to KeePass being offline and local it reduces the idea of getting hacked. If someone chooses to put their database online they're kinda missing the point. With regards to the idea of the on-prem idea, I would have two issues. I'm not sure about the first issue, but I wouldn't be surprised about them offering a cloud storage for the passwords that most wouldn't bother to switch off, regardless of if they went for on-prem or not. The second issue is that the on-prem solution for Bitwarden costs money, whereas KeePass is free and open-source (as far as I am aware). The article points out how to sync the database between devices, and I recognise that deficiency in security. But it isn't a necessity. So both services can offer a same idea, but one is free and the other isn't...choices, choices.... But to each their own.

    • I am not surprised because life is the product of a lot of biochemical and physical processes that releases various energies as a by-product. The only thing new here is the detection of these photon emissions. The researches noted this "glow" is not a metaphysical one. They don't even immediately end when one is dead. Things like fires, light bulbs, and on a bigger scale stars release a lot more "light" and they are hardly alive.
