[Official] Playstation Home

I don't know, the 360 and PCs in my home download quite fast..even my iPod downloads (wirelessly) quicker the the PS3. Also I've tried putting the PS3 in a DMZ with no effect and tried a wired connection and is just as bad :/ if the issue isn't with Sony, then the only other thing I can think of is my ISP is intentionally throttling PSN traffic and it's #%#@ annoying! :(

Yeah if it's consistently those speeds everyday since you've bought it, definitely something up.

We've got another few NW's from Australia, maybe see what they say.

Cause as I said, 4 hours for 77mb is 56k speeds, and even when PSN is busy you're talking low broadband expected speeds usually (people moaning about it going at 1-2mb a second, instead of capping their 3-4-5-6mb a second connections), not 4-5-6kb a second.

PSN runs on different ports from the 360, I'd try giving your ISP a call and asking if they're blocking/throttling any of the following ports

* TCP Ports: 80, 443, 5223

* UDP Ports: 3478, 3479, 3658

Yeah I will thx :) I'll also have a further tinker with my router, apparently having a NAT 3 connection can also cause slow PSN downloads. I've found out some things I can try to see if I can change that and see if that improves things for me. If all else fails, I'll contact my ISP and see what they have to say about it.

NAT3 means the ports the PS3 needs to use aren't open. You need to get NAT2.

So if you have a NAT3 either you haven't setup ports correctly on your PS3/Router, or your ISP is throttling/blocking.

anyone know what time this is going to be ready to download?

SCEE says evening

SCEE?s confirmed to VG247 that Home will launch tomorrow ?evening,? although a specific launch time isn?t available as yet, a rep said this morning.

Sony announced this morning that Home?s open beta will be available for all PS3 owners ads a free download as of tomorrow, December 11.

Bear in mind the ?evening? timing came from a UK rep, so don?t be too surprised if this means morning PST and afternoon EST.

Probably around 5/6pm when the store seems to be updated.

Didn't they also say somewhere that it wont be available from a firmware update/Store download?

So I can only assume it is going to appear on the XMB at some point?

What do you mean? you download it in the Store and when you install it, it puts an icon in the Network section of the XMB...that what you mean?

no no, lol.

I swear I have read that someone from Sony said that when it is released, it wont be released as a download from the Store of Via a firmware update.

So that when it does come out tomorrow, I would assume that they meant it will just pop up on the XMB and then people download it through the XMB instead.

And I swear an earlier version did it this way too.

Ah that is what you meant :p sorry!

is it going to totally replace the menu when you boot up your ps3?, like go straight to home...or do you have to launch it? also if it has to be launched, will there be an option where u can boot straight to home without having to launch it, anyone know?

It isn't replacing the XMB menu at all, I think that's been mentioned a few times, it will only be present on the XMB, and as I said earlier, as an optional download?

But I dunno about the logging straight into Home, we will have to see, but I doubt it.

hey soniqstylz Happy Birthday man.

    • Nvidia GeForce NOW gains support for seven more games as discounts continue by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe There's a brand-new update rolling out to Nvidia's GeForce NOW streaming service, and like every week, that means more games have received support on the platform. This week's drop has additions like Aphelion and Pro Cycling Manager 26 attached to it. Don't forget that the GeForce NOW summer sale is still active too. This limited-time offer drops the 12-month Performance membership from $99.99 to $64.99, saving members $35. At the same time, the 12-month Ultimate membership is currently going for $129.99, dropping the price by $70 from the original $199.99. Moreover, Nvidia reiterated that support for GOG single sign-in and game library is incoming this summer, joining stores like Steam, Ubisoft Connect, Battle.net, and Xbox. "Connect supported game store accounts and stream titles with GeForce RTX power. Games that include cloud-save functionality help keep progress intact across devices," added the company. "Start a game on one screen, pick up where playtime left off on another, and spend less time managing installs and storage space." Here are the games joining GeForce NOW's supported list this week: Embers of the Uncrowned Demo (New release on Steam, available 13) Pro Cycling Manager 26 (New release on Steam, available June 15) Aphelion (Steam) Citizen Sleeper (Epic Game Store, Free from June 18-25) Megastore Simulator (Steam) OPERATOR (Steam) Super Meat Boy 3D (Xbox, available on Game Pass) Keep in mind that, unlike subscription services like Game Pass or EA Play, a copy of a game must be owned by the GeForce NOW member (or at least have a license via PC Game Pass) to start playing via Nvidia's cloud servers. There is also a limit to how many hours subscribers can use the service per month, with extra time being purchasable in chunks.
