[Official] Playstation Home

Recommended Posts

Wow, this thread died especially after Home just came out

I haven't used it since the day I DL'ed lol

I think maybe in 2 or 3 years it will be worth logging in for, but for now I almost think it's doing more damage than good to Sony.

Sony Computer Entertainment will conduct system maintenance for PlayStation Home on Thursday, December 18, 2008. At this time PlayStation Home will be updated from ver. 1.03 to 1.04. The system maintenance is scheduled to start at 8am UK, and the service is expected to resume in approximately 6 hours but may change depending on the circumstances. PlayStation Home will be unavailable during the maintenance window.

The reason for this maintenance is to ease the difficulty some people are having accessing PlayStation Home due to the high demand for the service.

Additionally, as part of version 1.04, the voice chat feature within PlayStation Home will be temporarily suspended. As soon as we are ready to resume the voice chat feature, we will inform you via PlayStation.com and PlayStation.Blog. In the meantime, we encourage users to make use of the Wireless Keypad for PLAYSTATION 3 or any USB or Bluetooth-enabled keyboard for text chat and also the “phone friend” features to communicate within PlayStation Home.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and kindly ask for your understanding.

Seems like voice chat is going down till they can find a way to better moderate all the abuse.

Probably end up being private 1-1 voice chat, group voice chat, public voice chat when on a public event (bowling/chess/etc)...

Who knows, but many are complaining about abuse/sexual harassment and annoyance over the mics, and because it's not logged like chat/text, many get away with it.

Guess they gotta sort it out one way or another.

=============================================================

Sony's PS3 virtual world, Home, has already been hacked, with developers having discovered ways to exploit vulnerabilities within the software's code.

According to reports in the Telegraph this week, the hack allowed the developers "to customise their PlayStation Home experience beyond the options provided by Sony."

The report continues: "One hack uses a combination of the Apache web server and DNS re-direction to allow users of PlayStation Home to watch their own movies on display screens within the game, and change text and music to whatever they choose.

"A second hack enables players to download any file they want from PlayStation Home's servers, such as a fellow user's profile or avatar, the cartoon-like representation of themselves they create to appear in the virtual world."

=============================================================

Well, atleast the hackers had fun out of this.... its not like everyone was bummed out :p :ninja:

After updating to 1.0.4 I was finally able to get in the first time I tried, had to download each of the sections (shopping, bowling, main centre, etc) again tho, not much hassle as the downloads whizzed by.

Also accepted the Neowin club invite, wasn't able to look in the clubhouse though because it said some club features where currently offline.

The DIESEL and ligne roset shops are now open in the mall

DIESEL = 17 tops for Men, and only 4 for Women. (?1.59 each)

ligne roset = 3 Chairs, and 4 Tables. (?1.59 each) 1 Table and 1 Chair are available for free

Few new items in the standard furniture and clothes stores too. (dunno how long they have been there)

3 of the Diesel tops are free at least

*ahem*

invite to the club please:p:p

My PS3 is set aside for exchange tomorrow, I'll invite you tomorrow when I get my new on:):)

?1.59 for a virtual top for a virtual avatar? who are they trying to kid??? Home gets more of a shambles every day. Be bored and pay for the privilege of looking 'cool' while doing it.... pfft

Thankfully you don't have to use it, or buy the content.

Must have missed that. Back to the mall I go

Edit: Yep, 3 for men, 1 for Women. Why am I so tempted to buy a suite? lol (not the Santa one)

Supposedly 1 or 2 of the furniture items are free as well.

It was always known the clothes and what not would be paid with some free, especially obvious it's going to be like that if we're talking designer brands. So I dunno what the surprise is there.

But not giving everyone at least a free santa hat to celebrate christmas (okay charge for the whole suit), is bollocks (N)

By the way, supposedly the Asian Home Square has a big Christmas tree up, and there's snow!

Cool :woot:

You did backup your stuff off the HDD, I'm told when you put it in the new one it'll format anyway, whether it was already used in a PS3 or not.

Yeah it formats it.

I went from a 60GB to 40GB myself in the past.

Corris, what possessed you to fail this hard and post LBP trophies in the Home thread?

Not to mention those trophies have already been posted in the LBP thread :p

It's late, get to bed.

We know only Scots can function in the early hours, the Welsh, English and Irish have no chance.

Its the sheep, they be wearing us out over here. :p

I dunno, that's so weird, I opened the LBP one and was reading through it and it wasn't posted, very peculiar. O.o

I know what it was, I had left the thread open from earlier, its why I missed you posting them, but I haven't the foggiest how I confused the two topics, lol.

It looks like they also removed any unlocked items. I lost my Namco stuff. AB, more beards but still no goatee.

    • If you can't spell a simple word that 2nd graders learn, your entire argument is suspect.
    • And here goes the "Won't someone think of the children" brigade. Get stuffed mate. This has NOTHING to do with making the internet safe. It's about tracking adults, spying on your online activity, and sending the boys around when they don't like something you post. Also, again, parliament have voted TWICE against this, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. THAT is anti-democratic bullsh**. They will use this law to track you, they will use this law to control you, and they will use this law to punish you if they don't like what you do, even if it's legal. And your data? Say bye bye to that. It'll be on the darkweb in weeks. I'm not some rando online. I've been an IT professional for 40 years, many of it in security. I know exactly what this means and what will happen to your data. I do not consent and I will not comply.
    • "...but it may not be Microsoft's fault" seems like a reasonable way to tease what is going on without leaving the user with a false impression that an update is the problem. A title isn't a summery, it is meant to entice the user to read the article. It should not contain a misleading premise; which this title does not. You could maybe complain that the first paragraph should have included that detail. The writing style popularized over 100 years ago in newspapers will cover the most important information as soon as possible with details and nuance added later; the idea being that with each new paragraph you have less of the reader's focus.
    • Samsung Galaxy XR arrives in the UK with new AI and enterprise features by Fiza Ali Samsung is bringing its Galaxy XR headset to the UK several months after the device made its debut as the first headset built on Google's Android XR platform. The headset was first teased in late 2024 alongside Google's introduction of Android XR before making its commercial debut in 2025. Developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, Galaxy XR combines mixed reality experiences with Gemini-powered AI features, allowing users to interact with digital content using voice, gestures, and visual inputs. While the hardware itself remains largely unchanged from the version Samsung unveiled last year, the company is using the UK launch to spotlight several software enhancements that have arrived through recent updates. Among the most notable additions is deeper integration with Google's ecosystem. Galaxy XR users can explore destinations through Google Maps' Immersive View, receiving AI-powered recommendations and contextual information from Gemini while navigating virtual environments. Furthermore, entertainment experiences have also expanded; users can watch 180-degree and 360-degree videos on YouTube, browse spatial content converted into 3D, and ask Gemini questions about on-screen content without interrupting playback. Samsung is also highlighting mixed-reality features such as Circle to Search, which allows users to identify real-world objects through hand gestures while using the headset's video pass-through mode. Another feature automatically converts photos and videos into spatial 3D experiences. Moreover, the headset now also supports Android Enterprise, allowing organisations to manage deployments using existing Android management tools. Annika Bizon, Vice President, Product and Marketing, Mobile Experience, Samsung UK & Ireland, talked about the device, stating: The headset is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform and features dual 4K Micro-OLED displays. The tech giant says that users can expect up to 2.5 hours of battery life. Samsung also confirmed that Galaxy XR will continue receiving software and security updates as the company works alongside Google and Qualcomm to expand the Android XR ecosystem. Galaxy XR is now available for pre-order and will go on sale on 8 July. Customers interested in trying the headset before launch can visit Samsung KX in London and selected Samsung Experience Stores from 17 June. Finally, the company will also host a livestream on 19 June showcasing the headset's capabilities and answering questions from prospective customers.
