Since it's a six episode OVA, I'll definitely check it out. Nothing made me more miserable than watching the first third of SEED, then realizing it's basically an MTV show (teenage drama) wrapped up in mecha and pseudo politics. TT_TT

could be worse it could've been space Nazis again.

Sure, SEED was more emotional then previous Gundam series. Though I did like both SEED series for everything they where. I wasn't annoyed by the emotional parts. It kinda fitted with the characters and where they came from. I stilled liked it though :p

Have you watched Gundam 00 as well?

I have to disagree. Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and 08th MS Team were great.

@SidVicious

What do you think about Bitter Virgin? I'm curious because your rating differs greatly from mine.

Bitter Virgin is one of my favorites.

I like the drama and the romance in it.

Tried it, disliked it. I don't know if it was emotional. Then again, I am quite analytical of anime series when it comes to mecha/sci-fi.

Hmm, we enjoy very different types of anime. Bitter Virgin made me think that it was simply using rape as a vehicle for a romance and garner sympathy from the audience, which sickened me.

and what?

I enjoyed Gundam 00 much more than I enjoyed SEED. I found certain part to be too emotional in SEED and made it rather easy to predict what the outcome would be like

^I liked them both equally to be honest :p Also, I'm really looking forward to the Gundam 00 Movie. Those new mobile suit designs which they'll be using are looking rather interesting :D

They had to do that since all the old units were destroyed and left begind. Also, I believe they also had to make new GN-Drives due to the others being destroyed.

Here's a list of the new Celestial Being units:

Gundam 00 Qan[T], Setsuna?s unit: Exia?s lineage. It has binders and shield on its left shoulder, as well as numerous Funnels (informal name).

Gundam Harute, Allelujah?s unit: Harut and Marut are two angels mentioned in the Qur?an. The Gundam has a visor like the Astraea and the GN Archer. It can transform.

Gundam Zabanya, Lyle?s unit: The Zabaaniyah are the gardians of Hell in the Qur?an. Looks like a close-combat unit. It has a slim torso and big legs like the Virtue. It carries a ?GN Armor lite? on its back.Main weapon : Double hand gun.

Gundam Raphael, Tieria?s unit: See the Archangel Raphael. It has wired cannons in its fingers (like the Belphegor Gundam) and 4 cannons on its shoulders.

I'm glad that Gundam 00 Qan[T] looks a lot like Exia. I never liked 00 Gundam with it's twin drive. It looked way too bulky. Gundam 00 Qan[T] will have twin drives again but build into the suit in a much nicer way.

There's also going to be a new manga which will fill in the gaps between the end of R2 and the beginning of the movie :)

Here's a trailer with some nice development viewings and the units somewhat in action:

Qan[T] does look suprisingly a lot like Exia. I liked the 00 although I'll admit the 00 Raiser was quite bulky (on the hand it did have the eye candy element while in action :p ). The 00 is not too bulky in comparison to the Exia; afterall the Exia had only one GN Sword while the 00 had 2.

Do you know when they'll start the manga? Btw when is Gundam 00 movie scheduled to come out? And thanks for the link to the trailer :)

00 Gundam looked bulky even without Raiser imo. The 2 GN-Drives on it's shoulders were the cause of it :p I like the fact that Exia had only 1 GN-Sword fixed to his arm. It always looked awesome seeing Exia in action with that GN-Sword. 00 Gundam had nothing special like thati mo.

I don't know when the manga will be released but the movie will open in Fall 2010. Nice to know that UVERworld will perform the OP again :D

I'm not a avid Anime viewer but I do enjoy the following series....

Gundam Wing

.hack//sign

Full metal alchemist

Bezerk

I watched some of Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex.

What else would you guys recommend. I'm not looking for something more than 100 episodes (@ 30 min's per ep.). I heard One Piece is good but its way too long for me to catch up on.

Thanks!!!!

Eureka Seven, Mobile Fighter Gundam: The 08th MS Team, RahXephon, Full Metal Panic! (The Second Raid especially), Blue Gender (think Berserk interpreted as sci-fi and Guts fighting aliens) and Memories (a collection of movies that are a must watch).

Actually, I would simply suggest that you watch anything that I have rated 8+ on my MAL page since the anime I enjoyed the most either had mecha, sci fi, cyberpunk or comedy.

Bleach. Worth it.

I would disagree. Bleach is simply a long, shounen series with lots of fights and its story arcs focus on a character's development rather than delivering a satisfying narrative. Its Dragon Ball for the 2000's.

Just watched 5 Centimeters Per Second (Byôsoku 5 Senchimêtoru)...great movie and also top-notch animation and visuals.

You should check out Voices of a Distant Star and The Place Promised in Our Early Days. Same themes, same director and stunning visuals. I would also suggest checking out Eve no Jikan. It's a combination of Asimov's robot laws and 5 cm/s and lighthearted in nature.

    • Still 3x what it should cost. So, it seems the trick is to increase price by 6x so that a reduction in price back to 4x looks like a steal. "You savvy shoppers win again!" I'm glad I'm not in a desperate spot to actually even need this overpriced crap. Hopefully, it comes back down by the time for when (or if) I ever do.
    • Although AI is great and has it's use cases they likely have massively overhyped it and it has not delivered as per their expectations. I fully expect them to start saying the same things again when it does get to a certain level of intelligence!
    • Microsoft wants to end printer driver headaches with Windows Ready Print by Usama Jawad A few days ago, Microsoft released Windows 11 Experimental build 26300.8553, bringing a ton of enhancements such as Start menu customization, search improvements, Taskbar polish, and other minor UI tweaks. Another relatively major enhancement snuck deep within the change log was related to upgrades to the Windows printing experience. Now, Microsoft has shared more details about these benefits. For starters, Microsoft has renamed its Modern Print Platform to Windows Ready Print. The company believes that this name highlights its shift in strategy, which now focuses on modernizing, securing, and streamlining the printing experience for Windows devices. Some of the upgrades present in Windows Ready Print have already been seeded to customers and partners. This includes ending support for third-party printer drivers via Windows Update and transitioning towards the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) and the native Windows IPP printer driver. In line with these changes, new printer installations will default to Windows Ready Print on eligible devices starting from July 2026. However, Microsoft recognizes that not all environments will be able to migrate to this platform immediately, so it will allow users to choose between installing the printer via Windows Ready Print or the traditional OEM process. Users will be able to toggle this configuration through Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners > Printer preferences. This control applies only to new printer installations, and its functionality can also be modified via Group Policy as follows: Launch Group Policy Editor Navigate to Local Computer Policy -> Administrative Templates -> Printers Find and select 'Configure Windows Ready Print driver ranking' -> double click to open it Select 'Enabled' (if you wish to enable Windows Ready Print driver selection) or 'Disabled' (if you wish to explicitly disable Windows Ready Print driver selection). Select Apply Select OK Similarly, if you set up Windows protected print mode through the same setting in Windows 11, it will also default to using Windows Ready Print exclusively. Microsoft hopes that these improvements will help eradicate dependency on OEM-specific driver installation processes and simplify printer installations. We'll likely find out more about other tangible benefits in the coming months.
