Gnome still needs alot of work with its mime type handling, but apart from that its a rather slick desktop manager to use. 1.4 Ximian Gnome is pretty damn sweeet. KDE 1.x is just plain gay. 2.x, especially 2.2 (can't remember 2.0 :) ) looks really great and seems to work a little better for me. GNOME has always been good.
