Bear Grylls Injured After Antarctic Fall

Recommended Posts

Yeah, no one in this thread has room to speak to how hard this guy really is.

He left the SAS because of a combat diving accident.

His main chute ripped at 1600 ft... that's a lot of feet. And he fell. Into the ground. And broke three verterbrae. And look where he is. 500 meters is a long way to fall... 1/3 of a mile.

COME ON PEOPLE. And then he went on to climb everest after that. Sheesh.

And flew oveer everest on a jet pack type thing.. I think it was everest.

I'd not heard of this man before, but:

Following allegations that the show deceived viewers into believing that he was really stranded in the wild when he was not, Channel 4 temporarily suspended the show. Discovery aired re-edited episodes, decided to remove elements that were considered too planned, with a fresh voiceover and a preceding announcement pointing out that some parts are staged. It has continued to broadcast the program.

An adviser to the Man vs. Wild/Born Survivor series had claimed that Grylls had been staying at a California motel while filming. A crossing of a deep crevass was shown to be within sight of a busy highway. vBear was shown taming 'wild' horses who had horseshoes on their hooves when the film was examined closely. Similarly, it was alleged that Grylls had stayed at a crew base-camp in the Costa Rican jungle, while giving viewers the impression that he was alone. These allegations were confirmed by Channel 4, who argued that it was not a documentary, but a 'how-to' guide to survival, implying that 'faked' or re-shot scenes were acceptable in that context.

In an interview with Zoo Magazine, Chris Ryan disputes that Grylls ever served in the SAS.

Wounder. Talk about being busted.

"Gulf War veteran Ryan even says he doesn’t believe Grylls broke his back on an SAS operation in Africa."

Bear might be a tough guy but there's just too much of these accusations to take him seriously.

  • 3 years later...

I say watch my show as I travel the world on different airlines braving the airline and airport foods. Now that is an adventure worth seeing. I know my stuff. When I slip and fall on an escalator don't be calling me petty!!

I'll just ignore you and move on.

    • The FIFA World Cup is not US centric.
    • It’s amusing how Microsoft is pushing IT admins as if this was a major, game-changing update. In reality, it’s just an enablement package that bumps the build number, which is disappointing compared to the more substantial 22H2 and 24H2 releases. Technically, 25H2, 26H1, and the upcoming 26H2 are essentially the same, differing only in support schedules. They could have included the Windows K2 improvements here, but chose not to. The era of Windows being in the backburner continues, and this 26H2 release feels like an afterthought. Shame, Nadella, shame.
    • Microsoft, totally not confusing /s 25H2 - Current for non-Arm based Windows 26H1 - Current for Arm based Windows 26H2 - Only for non Arm Windows
    • After I installed those, my older but capable Win 11 laptop (16GB RAM) reported it as 26H2 26300.8697. Then I installed it on my big laptop (128GB RAM! Hehe sorry), it reported it as 25H2 26220.8690. Ugh. Do I have to switch Insiders channels from Release to Beta?
