Cup Crazy 2003

Devils / ducks : Devils Lead 2 - 0

End of a Legacy

Well guys, this year's playoffs come to a close for this Hockey Fan... With a four game sweep of the Detroit Red Wings and a soft burst of air, the time for celebration and hope has ended. The cup will of course move on to some other team, most likely in a city entirely undeserving of it's legacy and history, but at this point little matters.

I expect to read in tomorrow's papers about riots and looting in the great city of Detroit in the following, unavoidable, mass hysteria which follows this type of loss...but I suppose it serves to show us one thing... Even if your entire team sucks, you can still win a series on Goaltending alone.

It was fun while it lasted guys, there is always next year.

Congrats to the Ottawa Senators and Dallas Stars on their winning of their respective divisions...

But now with that all said and done...

So What.

The real season begins now. Yes boys and girls, it's playoff time where every game truly does count...

From the East, we have the President Trophy winning Ottawa Senator's leading the attack against the powerhouses of the West...

And now, for your playoff lineups as reported by ESPN.com

It all about the LEAFS .. they aren't as injury plagued as they were last year .. last year Roberts, Corson, Sundin, Reichel, Renberg, and 6 other starters were out and they went all the ways to the Conference Semi's .. this year they are all back in Fine form .. theres a few injuryed leafs .. Nolan, Wesley, Housley, Gilmour .. but all these guys are all new guys and they'll be back anytime now .. so they will be much stronger than they were last year .. and with a Eddie kicking more ass then Cujo who was a major let down last playoffs, we are looking on bringing the Cup where it belongs .. In Toronto .. Stanley Cup #14 ... here we come !!!!

To set the mood for the playoffs, allow me to post an all time arena favorite!

The Good Ole Hockey Game

Hello out there we're on the air, it's hockey night tonight

The whistle blows & the tension grows and the puck goes down the ice

The goalie jumps and the players bump & the fans all goes insane

Someone roars the Red Wings score at the good old hockey game

Chorus

Oh the good old hockey game is the best game you can name

And the best name you can name is the good old hockey game

2nd Period

Where players dance with skates that flash the home team trails behind

But they grab the puck & go bursting up & they're down across the line

They storm the creese like bumble bees they travel like a burning flame

We see them slide the puck inside it's a one one hockey game

Chorus

Oh the good old hockey game is the best game you can name

And the best name you can name is the good old hockey game

3rd Period ... Last game of the playoffs too!

Oh take me where those hockey players face off down the rink

And the Stanley cup is all filled up for the champs who win the drink

Now the final flick of a hockey stick and one gigantic scream

The puck is in the Red Wings win the good old hockey game

Chorus

Oh the good old hockey game is the best game you can name

And the best name you can name is the good old hockey game

Oh the good old hockey game is the best game you can name

And the best name you can name is the good old hockey game

Heads up... He shoots he scores!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you all enjoyed it. ;) You didn't have to listen to me sing it out while I was typing either! ;)

Edit: Of course, when the Wings are the home team the song changes just a bit. ;)

To all of those who said Ottawa in the Finals .. thas beautiful scene having a Candian Team in the Final .. ur wish will be granted .. it won't be Ottawa they will be knocked out in the 2nd round by the team that has kicked them outta of how many playoffs in a row now .. its 4 now isn't it .. i'm losing count its happened so many times .. poor Sens .. they worked so hard too ... oh well ..and all you Detriot Pushers .. CUJO SUCKS!!! .. he hasn't had a good playoffs since the Edmonton days .. this coming from a guy who has seen him play in TO for the last 5 years .. you need a goalie with Experience .. a goalie who makes a habit of coming up big in the playoffs .. someone like Brodeur .. or Eddie the Freakin Eagle!!! ... and Nucks .. they would make it far .. they have a good hardworking team .. but the thing is they are a one line team .. that line is shut down its over .. personally i don't think they will be shutdown .. but they goaltending blows .. so they will only go as far as there goalie can support them

Finals:

Toronto vs. Detriot/Dallas .. this all depends on Marty Turko .. but either way TO will be waiting

I'd love to see a Detroit / Toronto Match-up. My two favorite NHL teams. ;)

Detroit will win of course.

As for Eddie "I like to get drunk and beat up cops" Belfour, he's ok but just wait til after his 'We're in the play-offs celebration' He will be so drunk he'll end up getting into some trouble. Has happened every year for so many years.

Extra credit to the first team to knock out Turco. ;) Without him, Dallas will betray their wet and squishy noodle side. :spell:

Don't u worry he's sober .. after the cup win he can go buck wild .. and we'll give him all the beer he wants for free ... bring on the billion dollar bribes eddie .. we goin to the Promised Land .. Lord Stanley's Cup is OURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • I don't hate the new menus, I am not a fan of the lack of features and how they went live when they clearly are not complete. The menu itself presents much better than the previous - but what's lacking (IMO) is: 1) Any kind of automated manipulation such as: "this goes on the new menu because you use this feature more often on this filetype" "this is rarely used and will fall back to the old menu" 2) Any kind of user manipulation such as: "a UI to add/remove/order items to the new menu"
    • The biggest issue in this version of Win 11 context menu, from usability standpoint, is the movable row with basic commands. Think of a car analogy...if You turn the week left the infotainment screen will move right and vice versa. With how it works now Microsoft made something forbidden in designing in any UI, software or hardware. I can't grasp who were the morons within Microsoft suggesting it was a good idea and gave it a green light.
    • LibreOffice 26.2.4 by Razvan Serea LibreOffice is the free power-packed Open Source personal productivity suite for Windows, Macintosh and Linux, that gives you six feature-rich applications for all your document production and data processing needs: Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Math and Base. Support and documentation is free from our large, dedicated community of users, contributors and developers. You, too, can also get involved! Choosing Between LibreOffice Still and LibreOffice Fresh: LibreOffice Still is a good choice if you value stability, a longer support cycle, and a more conservative approach to software updates. It's suitable for businesses and organizations where reliability and compatibility are crucial. LibreOffice Fresh is ideal if you're an enthusiast or an early adopter who wants to stay on the cutting edge of LibreOffice development and is willing to accept more frequent updates and occasional minor issues. Features: Writer is the word processor inside LibreOffice. Use it for everything, from dashing off a quick letter to producing an entire book with tables of contents, embedded illustrations, bibliographies and diagrams. The while-you-type auto-completion, auto-formatting and automatic spelling checking make difficult tasks easy (but are easy to disable if you prefer). Writer is powerful enough to tackle desktop publishing tasks such as creating multi-column newsletters and brochures. The only limit is your imagination. Calc tames your numbers and helps with difficult decisions when you're weighing the alternatives. Analyze your data with Calc and then use it to present your final output. Charts and analysis tools help bring transparency to your conclusions. A fully-integrated help system makes easier work of entering complex formulas. Add data from external databases such as SQL or Oracle, then sort and filter them to produce statistical analyses. Use the graphing functions to display large number of 2D and 3D graphics from 13 categories, including line, area, bar, pie, X-Y, and net - with the dozens of variations available, you're sure to find one that suits your project. Impress is the fastest and easiest way to create effective multimedia presentations. Stunning animation and sensational special effects help you convince your audience. Create presentations that look even more professional than the standard presentations you commonly see at work. Get your collegues' and bosses' attention by creating something a little bit different. Draw lets you build diagrams and sketches from scratch. A picture is worth a thousand words, so why not try something simple with box and line diagrams? Or else go further and easily build dynamic 3D illustrations and special effects. It's as simple or as powerful as you want it to be. Base is the database front-end of the LibreOffice suite. With Base, you can seamlessly integrate into your existing database structures. Based on imported and linked tables and queries from MySQL, PostgreSQL or Microsoft Access and many other data sources, you can build powerful databases containing forms, reports, views and queries. Full integration is possible with the in-built HSQL database. Math is a simple equation editor that lets you lay-out and display your mathematical, chemical, electrical or scientific equations quickly in standard written notation. Even the most-complex calculations can be understandable when displayed correctly. E=mc2. LibreOffice also comes configured with a PDF file creator, meaning you can distribute documents that you're sure can be opened and read by users of almost any computing device or operating system.
