There's only so much they could do to deal with server problems. Can't do much about it; and besides, if you're that damn impatient there ARE other ways to get Windows 7 now. Don't have a key now? Just wait till tomorrow. How do you think the rest of us who ran the leaked builds coped with it?

People must be very naive to not anticipate heavy server congestion when it comes to certain hot releases (i.e. Firefox 3's release) or a LARGE download of beta software. Oh and by the way, the general computer illerate public is probably oblivious to all this; just those that have the slightest interest in tech are part of the masses mashing F5 on their keyboards right now.

For the record, the key I got activated successfully on the leaked 7000 32-bit build.

WTF is wrong with you people. its a free download from the company you are blasting! Those that got the "Free Gift" be thankful! (i got one and it took all day) if i had not got it i would not of been mad. The Fact that MS was brought to its knees by a free preview speaks volumes of the product being presented....... Be excited about that! dont start flaming MS because they got hammered. Image what 2 million people downloading 3 gig images in a 2 hour period would have done to the Internet? it probably would have brought it down and cost this country billions in a time of deperation.

with my multiple account (lol) i've 8 key ( 4x32 + 4x64 )

Dont be greedy, hand some out. One key will activate 10 pcs.

No, I dont want one. I already have one.

BTw I got a error message like this :

Hmm :/ lol.

if you receive that error you just have press F5 ;) but i'll give you a better way :)

open something like 15 TAB than paste in every tab the link of the key you want to download , than go to the first tab , right click and press refresh all, wait some seconds and in more than 1 TAB you will have your key, do it for the other Version (x32 / x64)

another issue : you must be logged into technet.microsoft.com before doing this. (and you must see your username near "sign out". ) If you don't have make some accounts on connect or technet for free.

They could have been more proactive and made sure that the servers they had would handle the load. After all of this hype did they not believe many many people would be trying to download it? They can't be that dumb, just cheap. When I BETA tested Office 2007, they sent me the DVD's. This has turned into a circus.

They didn't anticipate that many people knew how to install an operating system. :p

But anyways, crap happens. Pulling off a mass distribution of a 2.5 GB and a 3.3 GB disc image to almost a million F5 trigger happy users is no simple task, and argubly, unprecedented since Vista's beta days. Especially when a good chunk of those users are making threats to use activation cracks and "suing" for lost time.

No one forced you into installing; saying MS should apologize for wasting your time is laughable. Yeah sure, if we all paid $2.50 shipping to get the discs to us and the distributor for the discs goes AWOL, then an apology would be in order. In this case, what do they owe you?

@that person getting 8 keys: I highly doubt you're in this beta test program for the right reasons. Expect to get your PM box spammed to hell with requests from some programmers and testers who'd put those keys to good use.

I fooled with this all day and got squat. I got to a 98% completion and it died. MS should have anticipated the traffic, adapted and made sure that they could handle the demand. As far as it being a "Free Gift", think again. I BETA tested Vista and got squat for doing so. I however did not have problem downloading it. MS is using all of the people that do get Windows 7 into free product testers. My God, at least let me get the product to test.

It wasn't even the people downloading the images that brought Microsoft's servers down, it was simply the people trying to get a 25 character key! There were MUCH better ways they could have handled this (some have been mentioned in this thread).

ok ive tried on 3 computers, and i just cant make this work. i really have to get on the road. california to new mexico is one hell of a trip to make in one shot and i should have left hours ago.

I would have gladly paid more than $2.50 for shipping.

The site is currently experiencing technical difficulties, please check back in the next business day.

Wrong-this is what I get.

I fooled with it all day too! being a beta tester doesnt mean you get something. I have beta tested to. i got insight into new products before anyone else. that was good enough for me! so yea we are guinee pigs! so what! everyone here knows that, why do you think MS got brought to their knees? becasue everyone wants to try it!!!!! I downloaded mine (both versions) from 11:30 till 12:00 by looking for other legal alternatives. Not everyone will get a copy.... but i gaurentee you more people downloaded it than there are keys for!!!

If all of you people who keep complaining about not being able to get a key stop for 2 minutes and read this page you will be able to get a key on the first or second try...

    • ASUS ROG Falchion Ace 75 HE keyboard is 27% off on Amazon by Ivan Jenic The ASUS ROG Falchion Ace 75 HE is currently $159.99 on Amazon, down from $219.99. That's 27% off and $60 saved on a keyboard that combines retro and modern design, while being one of the most responsive and adaptable 75% boards available right now (purchase link down below). The ROG Falchion Ace comes with the HFX V2X magnetic switches that allow you to set actuation anywhere between 0.1mm and 3.5mm with 0.01mm fine-tuning steps. It also comes with Rapid Trigger, a feature that resets the key the moment you release it rather than waiting for a fixed reset point, which makes a noticeable difference in fast-paced games. And finally, an 8,000Hz polling rate should make the response time feel instant. The build quality is decent, with dense plastic and powder-coated aluminum, which is expected from a keyboard at this price point. There’s also the onboard adjustment wheel, which lets you tweak actuation and Rapid Trigger sensitivity without opening any software. For competitive gaming, the ROG Falchion Ace is hard to beat at this price. And those who appreciate old-school hardware, especially those white keyboards we’ve all grown up with, will likely also appreciate the looks of this keyboard. A carry case is included.
