You don't have to (and you definitely shouldn't, actually) run Windows 7 as Main OS. Just run it as dualboot. There's a few guides, already out on how to do that.

That aside, am I the only one that felt that I should have Seven of Nine as wallpaper, to commemorate this beta?? XD

Yes, dual boot is a great idea. And it's very simple, actually.

Here's how I dual-booted with XP:

1) Ran GParted and shrunk my XP partition.

2) Installed Windows 7.

Windows 7 detected "an older version of Windows" and automatically added the option to the bootloader.

Update 3: The main beta page is open again and keys are being issued normally now. Microsoft has also temporarily removed the 2.5 million limit on the beta for the next two weeks.

^^ Good news :)

Yes, it's been working for a while. Also, the keys are still non-unique.

Have they released the pricing for Windows 7?

I've got a few questions:

1. I've used PlusPatch v6 to get the key and my Win7 is now genuine. But does this mean that it will still expire on the 1st August? I've had to reinstall Win7 so if it goes back then it'll go back to the other bug infested version. I've not used TimerNuke or anything, will I have to do that to keep it until launch? I'll be buying the retail version.

2. When a new build is released, will I have to reinstall with a DVD or will it be available for download through Windows Update? And is it right too to have not had any updates through windows update yet? I've not had a single one.

That's 3, but the 2nd question is merged. Thanks.

After going through 13 hrs of trial and error to download Windows 7, I finally managed to get the key.

great!

but when installing (as an upgrade in English), I could not do it, because it says that the windows Vista installed in my computer is in a different language.

can anyone help me to find out how can I get to know in which language is my Windows Vista installed in my computer, and if I can change it into English ?

I thought it was installed in English.

Thanks

Antonio

Just keep an eye at the technet site and you can go to some technet meeting presentation and get it free there, don't know about that in the US, but here in Ireland), thats how I got a free Vista copy.

Usually, since I'm in the USA, I would have to go to California. Since I live in Pennsylvania (and sometimes South Carolina), that's a tough trip and not worth the ticket.

someone repost the link to the mp3 fix please. It's not showing up in windows update

From the front page:

32-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...ba-67b859a242b7

64-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...c8-5dc63d55626d

I need help with this issue. So i wanted to try out windows 7 and i installed it and everything and after one reboot i got this chkdsk error saying it had to correct some errors. I never had any disk errors while running Vista, whats the cause of it in Windows 7?

same thing happens to me, tried it with multiple computers, OS's, and diffrent ISP's

why is it when i download using the link from neowin front page it stops at 500mb? an all 3 of my computers this happens! help!

Umm... using a patcher to activate Windows is definitely not genuine. Why don't you just get a key for free from Microsoft and install the legit one?

I hope it isn't more than 300 euros... my calculations (on my phone) say that that is ~$402 :o !!! I'd rather buy a PS3 with that money.

There's no way it's going to be $400. MAYBE for the full Ultimate it might come close to that.

    • Exciting! It’s amazing how hearing Japanese can naturally enhance the perceived quality of any experience or product.
    • Your other comment in another article says otherwise, namely "Microsoft veteran wants to replace every single line of C/C++ code with Rust and AI".
    • Sued and... exonerated. Oh, they learned a lesson alright. They learned that anyone who uses the word "antiturst" in conjunction with "Microsoft" is an idiot, even if that person is Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson. That judge ruined the image of the US justice system. Microsoft Edge has a 5.14% market share. Also, Windows is no longer the #1 OS. None of this constitutes a monopoly. Google Chrome, however, has 70.25% share. Also, Google's Android is the #1 OS. Now that's closer to a monopoly.
