OMG I can't belive it:D It is finally working:D

The thing that solved it was using D-sub(vga) port of the motherboard to connect the monitor :D and not the DVI

I will try now the dvi port too:)

Mine was using HDMI... had to install using VGA then install the newest nvidia drivers to make HDMI work again hehe

Hmmm this seems like an over all Asus problem, but i swear, disabling the 2nd LAN for me worked, if i re enable it win7 wont start!

You gotta disable the LAN in the BIOS, not in xp or vista.

no issues at all. I installed Win 7 on a ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe with both on-board network adapters enabled and working fine.

FOUND THE FIX

Anyone having this problem enter the bios and disable any secondary LAN adapters.

I spent hours enabling and disabling things in my bios i own an ASUS STRIKER EXTREME, it has 2 lan ports built into the motherboard.

Disabled the second and BINGO, windows 7 installation got past the "windows starting" screen!

Hope this helps people!

confirmed - been freaking trying to do a workaround for this for ages - funny enough it works with dual lan if you install with an ide harddrive (pata that is)

I own a p5n32-e sli plus board from asus - when disabling one of the lan ports in bios it booted straight past "starting windows" - thanks a million man! I can now have windows 7 running from a sata drive! going to report this error to microsoft, so hopefully they can fix it before release of this awesome OS

I've got the same problem. I want to install Windows 7 from DVD. The install works fine but the PC freezes at the "Starting Windows" screen. I tried to disable my second LAN. This does not work. I've tried to disable my USB. This does not work.

I've got an Asus A8R32 MVP Delux by the way. 2 GB memory.

Could it be net boot? Make sure your BIOS has any network booting either turned off or at the bottom of the boot order. Perhaps the secondary NIC is resolving as a boot device before the motherboard gets to the HDD ports.

I disabled all the OnBoard Devices in the BIOS. And unplugged all the unnessary PCI devices and it worked! I don't know what caused the freeze. But after completing the Windows 7 install I enabled/plugged in the devices one by one and they caused no problems.

I tried installing x64 Win 7 enterprise and it also froze after it says loaded: windows/system32/drivers/disk.sys

It then restarts about 30 secs later. I've tried disabling all peripherals but that didn't help.

I am running i7 920, Gigabyte EX58-DS4, Sapphire 5870, Pioneer Blu-Ray BDC-S02, WD 1TB WD1002FBYS, Zalman 750W.

What should I try? I'm using DVI off the GPU cos I can't use anything else.
