Wolf3d has to be my favorite. First FPS and I spent weeks on end playing that. Was a very addicting game and I used to have all the secret locations memorized and be able to tear through any level on the hardest difficulty setting. Very fun game that fit on floppy disks and didnt take up gigs worth of space.

The Metal Gear Solid series. Seeing how I purchased a PS3 to play MGS4, and a PS2 to play MGS2, it should get a mention.

For stand-alone games: Hardwar. A game with such potential. Was such a shame that they never did a sequel or exploited the capabilities of the world to its fullest.

Half-Life series (1, 2 & Eps), easily. Team Fortress 2, too.

Also games I hold with very high regard are the Metal Gear Solid series, Pokemon Red/Blue, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, GTA III/Vice City/IV. MLB 08 The Show is great too (haven't got 09 yet, might order it today/this week).

I have very fond memories of playing through the original Unreal several times, as well as the sequel. Both had excellent story and feel. I was really ****ed when they ruined the series with Unreal II, which has none of the feel of the originals.

The HL series, KotOR I & II, RTCW, are also favorites. I loved the original Dark Forces, JK1 and JA.

Also who remembers Transport Tycoon (deluxe)? Man it's my favourite game of all time because I've been playing it for the longest time and thanks to OpenTTD, that longetivety strives on even to this day 14 years later!
