"Every single frame of this commercial was directly rendered on a PS3 without the need for additional tweaking or touching up.

We're very proud that our game engine technology has reached the point where we don't have to resort to software pre-rendering," said

Hermen Hulst, Managing Director. "In that regard it is a testament to our commitment to deliver on what we promise.

What you see is what you get."

SCEA will also be releasing a playable version of the ad in March, where users can control the camera view to explore the behind-the-scenes

techniques used to create the ad. This version will also include a director's commentary explaining the team's efforts to develop a

campaign that was true to the actual gaming experience"

GENERAL STORY OUTLINE

Get ready to take on the full strength of the Helghast war machine from a dramatic first-person perspective with Killzone 2 for the PS3.

From Amsterdam based Guerrilla Games, this much anticipated follow-up to Killzone for PS2 and Killzone: Liberation for PSP drops

you right into the boots of the battle hardened special forces soldier Sev. Two years after the Helghast assault on Vekta, the ISA are

taking the fight to Helghan. Their goal: to capture the Helghast leader, Emperor Visari, and bring the Helghast war machine to a halt.

You assume the role of Sev, a battle-hardened veteran and a member of the special forces unit known as the Legion.

WARZONE | Online Multiplayer

Up to 32 Players

Warzone is not only the overall name for Killzone 2's online multiplayer mode, it's a feature that embed a variety of game types. It's all about

getting you into tailor built games and then keeping you there. Unlike other shooters, you don't exit a map in this title to change the game type.

Warzone smoothly shifts between different goals of play within the very same fight. It may start out with bodycount but after a while you get

orders shouted at you to plant propaganda speakers in the oppositions area. If you succeed at this you might suddenly find yourself as the

assassination target of the opposing force. For each different game type and objective thrown at you there's a point to obtain, the faction with the

most points in the end is declared victorious in the Warzone. Winners enjoy the sweet reward of a 50% XP bonus not to mention the glory. Matches

are there for epic in size and dangerously addictive, you will wish for this to be the standard in all competitive games.

The competitive mode revolves around a deep class based system. As you earn XP and various ribbons, more and more classes and abilities as

well as weapons gets unlocked for you to use. Each class has both a primary ability as well as a secondary ability (referred to as badges

within the game). When you have two or more classes at your disposal you may choose to combine them into a hybrid class. For example, an

Engineers primary badge ability is to deploy automated Turret stations that pepper the enemy with lead. At the same time you wish to directly aid

your team mates. A good choice then would be the Medics secondary badge ability which is throwing health packs (bags of blood). By

combining these skill sets you now create yourself a new hybrid class which is the Engineer Medic. Within a team you may also set up Squads

consisting of four players. HUD indicators will pop up showing the status of those team members and you may converse with them freely for better

on-foot planning.

In Killzone 2's online multiplayer you can quickly choose to join the battles your friends are fighting, there's no down time. Speaking of friends, Killzone 2

delivers the most hefty and in-depth clan and tournament geared competitive mode in any console game. Clans support up to 64 members (that means

up to four full teams under one roof). The game comes with a fully built in tournament system, there's no need to artificially arrange this outside of the

game as it's hard coded straight into the experience. You may also arrange matches via Killzone.com. Any tournament ladder may support as many as

128 clans at any time. Each new clan starts out with 100 Valor points. Before each clan match you may bet Valor points on your team. The winner takes

all robbing the competition of theirs. If you think multiplayer wins and losses in other shooters have been an emotional affair you haven't seen anything

yet. Online drama in Killzone 2 will reach new heights, ultra sweet victories and truly bitter tear defeats. Your honour is at stake. This is all on top of the

downright brilliant gameplay and audiovisual feast that Killzone 2 delivers, the game will leave a hefty footprint in the competitive landscape.

SKIRMISH

For players who aren't interested in competing with other players or for folks without an online connection. Same feature set as Warzone

(minus community aspect). Supports 1 player and up to 15 A.I controlled Bots that uses the same abilities a human player enjoys. Bots

can be set to four different difficulty settings. Just like Warzone mode you will grow in rank over time earning new classes, weapons

and abilities. If your Warzone (online) rank is higher the Skirmish (offline) rank will be updated to that level of progress (but not visa versa).

MULTIPLAYER CLASSES

killzone-2-20090114051421570-000.jpg

I am honestly looking forward to picking K2 up on Friday, Im gonna buy the LE Tin version too!

I dunno if you can pickup the LE in shops in the UK?

Just the way you said "pickup". Only place I know that is selling it is Shopto.

Ah really?! I didn't know that! How come only Shopto get the LE Tin version?!

Probably some sort of exclusive deal with the Sony suppliers. It's just a limited edition case, it's not really like a real LE.

Just pre-order from them, they'll get the game to you on Wednesday/Thursday most likely. Friday definitely.

Plus

If you pre-order "Killzone 2 - Limited Edition Collector's Box" before 12pm on 25/2/2009 we will guarantee that you will receive it by the release date of 27/02/2009, if you do not receive it we will compensate you with ?3.00 on your shopto account (Terms and Conditions apply).
Whoa, ?3

To be fair, name any other site doing something like that.

It's for all their pre-orders, not just KZ2. So if they're late for anyone, multiply that by every pre-order they do across gaming platforms, then that could be hundreds of pounds paid out for being late;))

For Friday releases Shopto tend to always send out Tuesday or Wednesday and they do next day special delivery. Which is why the majority of people end up with the game a day or two early.

Yeah but they can shove their money, I'd much rather want my game and I would even pay twice as much for the game if that was my only option to get it on the release day.

Guess that's just me.

You do realize the idea of offering the money isn't them saying "Your game is going to be late, so were going to compensate you to keep business". It's them saying "We're never late so we can be ballsy and put something like this on our site".

Hence

I've never had one late game from them, always early or on time, early the majority of the time.

Well just placed my pre-order, I was gonna get it from GAME in town as I could trade some games in, but I fancy the LE Tin version :-)

?3 is not "ballsy" that's just a pathetic excuse in case it would get delayed, postman messes up etc. which is the point I'm really getting at, ?3 is chump change for having to sit around an extra day or two waiting for a game, is for me. Though I guess it's a nice gesture or whateve:p:p

Twice as much for what could be the sake of a day? You have too much money my frien:laugh:h:

Well, I already am paying twice as much as the rest of the world pretty much but yes, my wallet is swolle:shiftyninja:a:

You're not going to be sitting around another day though!

Come live in the UK and order things through Shopto Sethos, then you'll know they're reliabl:p:p Plus you'll get to hang about with us Scots.

It's just a gesture, and in the rare case it's totally the Royal Mail who **** up [they ain't the best], at least you're ?3 up, rather than just being fed "The postman stole all the copies of KZ2" that any other website would have to tell you.

Dear oh dear, this topic will hit 20 pages again before KZ2 releas:shiftyninja:ja: Oh well, the race is on to see who on NW gets this first!

    • I wonder how many are laid off for cost savings, and this being blamed on AI to make it sound less scary and bad, for a more positive "modern, with the times" spin for investors? Because Oracle is down 14% the past year. We're looking at a company struggling here. If AI would actually be working out so well for them that they can do massive layoffs, surely this would've been reflected the past year in their stock value?
    • AI is the beginning, wait until real robots replace more jobs, specifically jobs that require physical work.
    • AI is indeed eliminating jobs, and Oracle just proved it by Hamid Ganji There’s no question that AI has become the hottest trend in workplaces, and every company is trying to adopt AI-driven solutions across its operations. While some industry leaders repeatedly say AI won’t lead to massive layoffs, recent data suggest that AI is actually one of the main reasons some companies are reducing their workforce. According to Oracle’s annual regulatory filing, the company has laid off about 21,000 employees, or 13% of its workforce, amid increasing AI adoption. “The adoption and deployment of AI technologies across our operations have resulted, and may continue to result, in reductions to our workforce,” Oracle said in the filing. The software giant now has approximately 141,000 full-time employees, a notable decrease from 162,000 during the same period last year. Restructuring expenses, including severance payments, cost Oracle $1.84 billion in fiscal 2026. Additionally, around 49,000 Oracle employees were based in the U.S., while approximately 92,000 were employed internationally. Like many other companies, Oracle has fully embraced AI and concentrated much of its efforts on the technology. The company is also a key participant in the United States’ $500 billion Stargate Project, which aims to build multiple AI data centers across the country. When it comes to AI adoption and its impact on the workforce, opinions remain divided. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, whose company has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the AI boom, recently said in an interview that attributing job cuts to AI is a “lazy” narrative. “The narrative that connects AI to job loss, for many of the CEOs that are doing it – it is just too lazy. AI has just arrived, how is it possible they're already losing jobs?” Huang said. However, statistics and recent reports tell a different story. According to Layoffs.fyi, 196 tech companies have laid off about 119,800 employees so far this year. Reducing staff and replacing roles with AI agents could become one of the most significant trends in the job market in the years ahead.
