iPhone OS 3.0 is coming, preview on March 17th

What! iPhone 1st gen are getting screwed out of A2DP and MMS. Only iPhone 3G Customers will get this. Hopefully a new iPhone comes out so I can upgrade

So you're going to spend even more money on a phone and data plan just for MMS, which Apple decided is only good enough for 3G users?

They said due to hardware they can't allow MMS on the 1st gen

There was mention of Bluetooth. But did they say anything about Bluetooth file transfers (maybe for sending photos, etc)? I know we can use the email option instead, but not everyone's phone can access the web as easily.

All there needs to be now is a new iPhone with a better camera and video capabilities, and I'm sold.

Slightly disappointed about no Flash news with all the other companies showing off the new SDK. I suppose Flash is going to become the new "copy & paste".

Q: Flash? What are you doing?

A: We have no announcements on that topic today. But there are a lot of video streams we can handle. h.264 works great. We're adding HDTV streaming for audio and video. We think there's a lot of great video solutions for a single clip.

what an answer, lol

Wait, let me get this straight... no MMS on 1st Gen, because its different hardware?!?

My old Motorola from 2002 could do MMS. I think my 1st Gen should be able to handle something like that.

Pretty ridiculous they want me to upgrade to the 3G or whatever else comes out just for such a basic feature.

Well, I'm very very happy about this, however I will hold off till 3.0.1, as when 2.0 came out it was STUPID UNSTABLE.

I think most people also agree that an upgrade would be silly this time around, clean install and restore from backups

Exactly... I might understand stereo bluetooth because it actually deals with hardware but MMS??? Sending a picture to a server!!! C'mon!!!

If you had an iPhone 1st Gen on contract you should have been able to get the 2nd phone by now as the contract would have ended. Wasn't there an upgrade fee or something as-well. I don't know anyone with a 1st gen iPhone at this point they all upgraded to the 3G version by now.

I think the reason for not having MMS on the first iphone is down to it not having 3G and them not being able to reach an agreement with AT&T to do MMS over there 2G Network. Just my opinion based on what Scott said re: Hardware.

    • Doesn’t surprise me at all. God is light & He gave us life so it sounds almost logical that we would therefore emit a certain amount of light.
    • This is what I want. Hey Gemini, how do I remove you from all my google products permanently?
    • I would never install install this build before rtm process. only 3 months to go. never install on your daily devices. just wait 3 months.
