iPhone OS 3.0 is coming, preview on March 17th

I was expecting way less myself, I'm quite surprised that they covered everything (or nearly?). Like, if they didn't include stuff, they mentioned exactly why, and the rest they added it, and this period of questions at the end is awesome.

And well, yeah most likely a new iPhone in June. Revised hardware comes along with revised software for this device it seems :)

Developers will be so glad, they won't even want to go develop for Blackberry and Palm (ok I know I am exagerating A LOT, but you get the idea, tthe dev kit seems really awesome)

Where is a good place to discuss iPhone 3.0 OS?

I wanted to know if there are any update to the Firmware of iPhone. Better reception as well as connections.

Do we finally have an API to allow Voice Recording of Phone Conversation? I can not believe A phone as advance as iphone is lacking this feature.

To those who have loaded iPhone OS 3.0 on their phones. Are you able to restore back to OS 2.2.1? According to Apple OS 3.0 locks the hardware and you can't restore. Is this correct?

Note. Dont think about getting this and installing it to your iPhone if you dont have a developers account. You will get this message when trying to install it.

Note, apparently its possible to downgrade. I have the link but it might not work, so I wont post it.

Happened to me.. I'd not registered this phone. Scary moment :D

Regards the downgrading, I guess DFU mode combined with some of the jailbreak tools will probably get it done.

I love the fact that apple is making the new OS for the iPhone, but for me - its usless unless it can be jailbroken since im on a 2G iPhone in Australia - if I was to update to even the beta id be network locked to AT&T - which Australia doesn't even have lol - giving me a usless phone :p

So even though im a beta junkie, i'm going to have to give this a skip and unfortunitly wait until it can be broken apart for people in my situation.

You just need someone with a dev account to add your UDID to their account. Each DEV account supports up to 100 iPhones:)

There are a bunch of people on other forums who will add you to their dev account for a $1 donation.

Knowing how Apple counts "new features", I am not holding my breath besides summary of what we saw today.

I can see Phil Schiller proudly declaring Cut-Copy-Paste are 3 new features. YEY!

This is what I'm thinking, too. When Apple said that Leopard had "300 new features," what they meant was that the new version of iTunes accounted for about 20 features alone.

Thus, out of these "100 new features," I'm sure every small improvement is a feature in its own right.

Well just look at their last slide in their keynote. I counted about 30 features and they seemed all different to me. And they didn't even include the ones they talked about in the keynote (landscape, in app store, ...)

100 features or not, they added a BUNCH of new stuff and version 3.0 will bring the OS even closer to perfection. Obviously it'll never be "perfect" in the absolute way, but it'll rock a couple of other phones I know !

I love the fact that they've added a full GPS, copy & paste and MMS. Those things should have been there from the start but it's good to see them now. However, I don't like the fact that this doesn't work on a iPhone 1G.

The only funtionality first gen iPhone users miss out on is MMS and A2DP support.

    • I am not surprised because life is the product of a lot of biochemical and physical processes that releases various energies as a by-product. The only thing new here is the detection of these photon emissions. The researches noted this "glow" is not a metaphysical one. They don't even immediately end when one is dead. Things like fires, light bulbs, and on a bigger scale stars release a lot more "light" and they are hardly alive.
