alisalem
Hey, Based on your review, I'll be buying this arm soon but I had a question. As you can see in the picture, I don't have a 90? edged surface, but a curved one. I was wondering if the desk clamp would work in that case? Thanks.:)) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/755330-ergotron-mx-lcd-desk-arm-mini-review/page/3/#findComment-591620110 Share on other sites
Vice
I dont think it would be a good idea to put the arm on that curved edge, it might slip off the edge which would be bad obviously. alisalem
Well that curved edge is only 35mm. What's the size of the desk clamp? If it's not secure enough...I might add a wooden support on top of the edge or something but it will look like ass on the black desk. Chasethebase Veteran Posted September 29, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 29, 2009 Nice review, as well as the desk arm itself looking really nice, bet it attracts the dust really easily though! Also love your monitor, it looks really sleek. Robbie Khan Reviews Posted October 22, 2009 Author Reviews Share Posted October 22, 2009 Thanks :) The arm doesn't attract much dust at all really, the monitor does though as it's matte brushed aluminium as does my PC case which is the same but I can live with that as I have an anti-static duster just for this purpose :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/755330-ergotron-mx-lcd-desk-arm-mini-review/page/3/#findComment-591740868 Share on other sites
Chasethebase Veteran Posted October 23, 2009 Veteran Share Posted October 23, 2009 Damn, my monitor really picks up the dust considering it's shiny and glossy. Same with my laptop screen. Still it's awesome otherwise. Would easily consider getting one if my screen was staying in one place which it often doesn't. Robbie Khan Reviews Posted October 23, 2009 Author Reviews Share Posted October 23, 2009 I move my screen around, sometimes arm it out aimed at the arm chair for when I'm chilling watching a movie or something :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/755330-ergotron-mx-lcd-desk-arm-mini-review/page/3/#findComment-591743972 Share on other sites

witalit
Where did you purchase yours from?? I bought one without realising I needed to MINI ARM. I got one very similar for 100 pounds but it only goes on the wall. Still looks great and works! Vice
I got mine from morecomputers.co.uk I just took a look on there and they don't have the Desk mounting ones listed any more. They do have the wallmount version though which is the one you have already witalit :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/755330-ergotron-mx-lcd-desk-arm-mini-review/page/3/#findComment-591820194 Share on other sites

giantpotato
I just received mine, and installed it, but I ran into a little problem. It looks like my monitor is a little too light for the arm. I can't get it to tilt downward. The spring that holds the monitor tilting upwards is just a little too strong so the weight of the monitor doesn't keep it in place properly if I try to tilt it down, it always angles upwards slightly. I even adjusted the tension to be as loose as possible but even at its loosest the monitor tilts upward. For now I just jammed some metal in the hinge to force it to tilt downward, but by doing this I completely lose the ability to adjust the tilt of the monitor. Let this be a warning to anyone to check if their monitor is within the supported specs before buying. It looks like my monitor weighs 9.4 lbs but the arm supports between 14-30 lbs. I didn't think being under-weight would be a problem for the arm. All other movements, besides tilting seem to work fine though and I'm still happy with my purchase. I think I will have the same problem, but will just find a way to add weight to the monitor. Maybe a metal plate between the bracket and screen something like that. witalit
Yea you need to use the allen keys to adjust the arms so that they can hold the weight! I had the same issue, once you work it out you realise how amazing this mounting arm really is. I love mine, even though its the wall mounted one. This thing can literally last about 100 years I swear its a brute! Solid alu... I may well be buying the desk mouted arm soon and use this one for my tv! Not sure how heavy my tv is though hopefully less then 25 kgs. giantpotato
Like I mentioned in my post, I adjusted the tension in the arm to its loosest and it still tilts upwards because the monitor is not heavy enough :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/755330-ergotron-mx-lcd-desk-arm-mini-review/page/3/#findComment-592309790 Share on other sites
