Ergotron MX LCD desk arm mini review

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Based on your review, I'll be buying this arm soon but I had a question.

IMG_0201.JPG

As you can see in the picture, I don't have a 90? edged surface, but a curved one.

I was wondering if the desk clamp would work in that case?

Thanks.:))

Well that curved edge is only 35mm. What's the size of the desk clamp?

If it's not secure enough...I might add a wooden support on top of the edge or something but it will look like ass on the black desk.

Nice review, as well as the desk arm itself looking really nice, bet it attracts the dust really easily though!

Also love your monitor, it looks really sleek.

Thanks :)

The arm doesn't attract much dust at all really, the monitor does though as it's matte brushed aluminium as does my PC case which is the same but I can live with that as I have an anti-static duster just for this purpose :p

Damn, my monitor really picks up the dust considering it's shiny and glossy. Same with my laptop screen. Still it's awesome otherwise. Would easily consider getting one if my screen was staying in one place which it often doesn't.

I haven't taken pictures of the arm..Here's a picture of my desk with a curved edge.

The arm fits very well on that edge.

I just received mine, and installed it, but I ran into a little problem. It looks like my monitor is a little too light for the arm. I can't get it to tilt downward. The spring that holds the monitor tilting upwards is just a little too strong so the weight of the monitor doesn't keep it in place properly if I try to tilt it down, it always angles upwards slightly. I even adjusted the tension to be as loose as possible but even at its loosest the monitor tilts upward. For now I just jammed some metal in the hinge to force it to tilt downward, but by doing this I completely lose the ability to adjust the tilt of the monitor.

Let this be a warning to anyone to check if their monitor is within the supported specs before buying. It looks like my monitor weighs 9.4 lbs but the arm supports between 14-30 lbs. I didn't think being under-weight would be a problem for the arm. All other movements, besides tilting seem to work fine though and I'm still happy with my purchase.

I think I will have the same problem, but will just find a way to add weight to the monitor. Maybe a metal plate between the bracket and screen something like that.

Yea you need to use the allen keys to adjust the arms so that they can hold the weight! I had the same issue, once you work it out you realise how amazing this mounting arm really is. I love mine, even though its the wall mounted one. This thing can literally last about 100 years I swear its a brute! Solid alu... I may well be buying the desk mouted arm soon and use this one for my tv! Not sure how heavy my tv is though hopefully less then 25 kgs.

    • Microsoft confirms Windows 11 26H2 to finally get one of the most requested features by Sayan Sen This past week Microsoft officially confirmed Windows 11 version 26H2 with the latest build, 26300.8697, for testing in the experimental Insider channel. The company also published more details about it mainly directed towards IT admins and system admins. Essentially version 26H2 will be delivered via an enablement package (eKB) over Windows 11 25H2. If you are wondering about some of the upcoming features in the next Windows version, one of them is certainly very interesting as Microsoft has confirmed it is finally bringing one of the most overwhelmingly requested features ever. March Rogers, the Partner Director of Design at Microsoft, recently highlighted some of the Search improvements that the company is testing, and during the interaction with users on X where he posted it, Rogers also confirmed that the company is working on disabling web search results inside Search. This is something which many users find quite annoying as Windows would often serve them links to Bing which it feels could be more helpful rather than bringing up the actual object or app the user may be searching for on their PC. Finally though the company is prioritizing local file search over the web. However the feature could not be disabled for many users as not all new features are immediately rolled out to everyone. Image via phantomofearth (X) Windows enthusiast phantomofearth who likes to dig deep into new builds uncovered the IDs you will need to enable these features. Using the following feature IDs the new Search-related features landing in Windows 11 26H2 can be used. Follow the steps below to enable the new Search experience on Windows 11 build 26300.8697: Download ViveTool from GitHub and unpack the files in a convenient and easy-to-find folder. Press Win + X and select Terminal (Admin). Switch Windows Terminal to the Command Prompt profile with the Ctrl + Shift + 2 shortcut or by clicking the arrow-down button at the top of the window. Navigate to the folder containing the ViveTool files with the CD command. For example, if you have placed ViveTool in C:\Vive, type CD C:\Vive. Type vivetool /enable /id: and press Enter. Restart your computer. If you change your mind and want to restore, repeat the steps above and replace /enable with /disable in the commands on steps 5 and 6. Delightedly and perhaps also expectedly, once you disable web search and other such bloat, the Windows 11 Search is said to get snappier as remarked by another Windows enthusiast Xeno.
