Major Death is Coming!

Ouch.

This one is going to leave a mark.

Sources over on NBC's Heroes confirm to me that a major death is in the works, and this is not one that will go unnoticed by even the most casual fan.

It is huge.

So who is it?

Well, you know how these things go...We can't come right out and name any names. (Unless someone can hook me up right quick with the Witness Protection Program?)

However, I will tell you that this leading character is a male, and he is not necessarily pictured above. (He might be, he might not be.) And he is one of the original cast.

And you thought Hayden's same-sex kiss was surprising, eh?

Clearly the producers are pulling out all the stops this season in an effort to ramp up storylines and pull out a big watercooler-worthy surprise.

But I have to say that I, for one, will miss this guy. Big-time.

It's either Grunberg or what's his name who plays HRG. It better not be Peter or Hiro. I will stop watching the show if they kill either of them off, period. It's bad enough what they've done to Peter the last 2 seasons now by gimping him and making him suck. And don't even start with Hiro. He was one of the best characters in S1, probably the best but noooooooo they gotta make him into a child (literally) and an idiot.

Matt Parkman has served his purpose I suppose so far. And while I love HRG, eh. I suppose the guy who plays Mohinder could be a goner also. Has he even been in any episodes yet this season other than the 1st one? Is Ando considered a main cast member? He could be killed off also. Could be a decent storyline for Hiro actually.

I don't know where Heroes is headed but for the first time since season 1, I'm excited, it is thrilliing, well acted, the effects upped a notch and... it is surreal especially that ending.

I vote for Matt aswell, he will not allow Syler to live on, so I think Matt going to end them both.

LOC I think you need to look at gimped Peter from a different angle, an omnipowerful good hero is boring.

And having an all-powerful godlike badguy is any better? Sylar is nigh unstoppable normally. Of course, half the time he's either forgotten who he is, or had his powers removed like Peter lol

And I seriously doubt they are gonna kill off Sylar. Quinto is the biggest name on the show, and it's been mentioned already that his Star Trek duties will not interfere with Heroes filming in the least. Both producers said they'd work out schedules so he can do both (which means, he won't be leaving).

Besides, we ALL want to see that ultimate showdown between Peter and Sylar since that S1 episode in the future, right? I mean come on already guys!

seems the plot is thickening...the same day as that was stated this was released!

This story breaks on the same day as this rumor from Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello:

A male series regular on a one-hour drama - a onetime ratings powerhouse - learned that he was out of a job only after reading his character's death scene in the script! According to my mole, the popular and well-respected leading man - who tapes his final scenes this week - was blindsided not just by his ouster, but by the tacky way in which it was handled. "He was hurt that the producers didn't tell him first," says the source. "He deserved better."

I think its Peter or HRG, and not the characters of Hiro or Parkman because of the image from the last page which looked like they were mourning a lost.

Yeah that was a recycled image from last season but I posted it because the article stated the person may or may not be in the picture.

To me that sounds like HRG. Dunno why.

If that's true, then I'm officially done with the show. The only character that has kept me watching was Noah and what they were going to do with him. He was my favorite character from the first season and they have crippled his character. If he goes, so do I

"The Riches" alum Todd Stashwick has landed a recurring role on NBC's "Heroes."

He will play Eli who is a part of this season's traveling carnival storyline and has close ties to the carnival's evil ringleader Samuel (Robert Knepper).

The ink thing makes sense. Though i'm still not sure about how Peter controls if gets other people's powers. He didn't know Emma had a power so it's not like he was trying to take it. If it's simply just touching people then he should have gotten other powers.

well maybe its by hand because Samuel was but he mum he didn't touch her hand but he then did touch Emma's hand....might have to go back and see when he got it...they focused on it.

    • A coalition of publishers sued OpenAI and Microsoft over scraping content without consent by Hamid Ganji Image via Depositphotos.com AI companies often rely on readily available internet content to train their chatbots and provide users with instant answers. This method of AI training is fast and relatively inexpensive, but using a website’s content without permission or compensation is not something publishers like to see, and this is exactly why Microsoft and OpenAI are now being sued. As reported by Bloomberg, a group of publishers that collectively own nearly 400 newspapers has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft. The coalition argues that the two companies scraped their content to build AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Copilot without paying any compensation. The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, argues that while AI products have generated billions of dollars in market value using publishers’ work, none of that value has been shared with the publishers. The plaintiffs are seeking statutory damages and injunctive relief for alleged copyright infringement and violations of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. “Defendants systematically and secretly crawled the Publishers’ websites—including content behind paywalls and other access restrictions—and copied the Publishers’ articles, stories, and other original works onto their own servers without authorization,” the complaint states. The publishers also described the AI boom as a “death knell for local journalism” if AI companies that scrape content for free are not held accountable. Former New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin and his law firm, Platkin LLP, are representing the publishers. “Our models empower innovation, are trained on publicly available data, and are grounded in fair use,” OpenAI spokesperson Drew Pusateri told Bloomberg. This is not the first lawsuit involving the unauthorized use of publishers’ content by AI firms, but it is one of the largest coalitions ever formed against the free use of content by AI chatbots. In 2024, OpenAI and Microsoft also faced a similar lawsuit from eight newspapers that claimed AI products were benefiting from their content without permission.
