First InFamous Review(s)

Recommended Posts

Played the demo, was pretty good. However I'm probably not going to pick this up right now seeing as they made all the new games $70 now. Will wait for a price drop and coupon codes on Amazon ;)

Really? That is odd, as prices almost seem to be coming down here. Just a few $$ but not going up.

Fricking Shopto emailed and told me they removed my card details because my account was inactive for 3 months.

Worst time ever when I have a game on preorder and they email a few days earlier about giving away the beta code if your order fails.

Just as well I was awake to correct it.

inFamous isn't as loose as Crackdown, it has a storyline to follow surrounding one character. Crackdown was just a collection of boss fights really.

If inFamous was to have Co-Op it would basically need to be a second campaign, or at the very least just Co-Op for a screw around, but that wouldn't be fun for that long. We'll see what they can come up with for inFamous 2 if it comes around.

Prototype originally had co op..but they removed it BUT they said it is a possibility of adding co op in DLC in the future..

These kind of games will be ****ing awesome with co op! :)

Crackdown was awesome with a friend, twice the number of explosions and fun. I can only imagine inFAMOUS being even better, shame we'll never know for certain.

They all love it:DD

Any chance we could get this topic renamed to [Official] inFamous Thread since the game is nearing release!

PS Can't wait!

I'll put up an official topic in the next few days! If no one else wants to do it/does it first.

Our new policy is wait until near release for official topics so they aren't 10+ pages of rambling before the game even hits :p I know it hits America on the 26th so I'll try have a topic done for then. EU is 29th.

Ahh ok, wasn't sure what the official stance is. Look forward to discussing the game when it gets released, banned myself from the demo now so it's all new and fresh when the game gets released. Only issue is that I forget to change delivery so I am going to have to drive to Manchester from Liverpool to pick it up on Friday morning. :(

Loved the demo, great gameplay, excellent animation and had tones of fun just running around climbing on stuff! And also was quite suprised how hard it cud be especially those bloody big white freaks!

Would be getting it day one but money is very tight and have money aside for car and going in holidays in about 2weeks lol.....mayb able to trade in some games for it thou...hmmmm

Just picked up my copy this morning (yay America!), and I've started on my "good" campaign. So far, I'm loving the game just as much as I loved the demo; it's so nice to FINALLY get a game that actually lives up to the hype!

I'm looking forward to seeing the multiple endings and different missions for good & bad - I really think this may be my personal GotY. If anyone hasn't downloaded the demo yet, I'd recommend doing it soon; I heard that some stores are already running out of the copies that have the Uncharted 2 multiplayer beta codes in 'em, so you'll want to make a decision about getting the game soon, if you want in on that!

Pretty good game so far, my only gripe is that the karma system is ludicrously blunt. Instead of coming upon situations and having to figure out for yourself what would be right and what would be wrong the game actually stops, tells you that you're about to do something that could earn you karma, and then explains exactly what your two choices are, leaving no real moral dilemma, but just "press triangle over this object to do the right thing or triangle over that to do the wrong."

Eh, it doesn't really bother me - I mean, they had to quantify the moral choices somehow just to make it actually feasible for the game; it's not like the software is capable of judging a million shades of moral greyness. It's a game, not a priest. :p I'm still having plenty of fun with it - although I'm trying to hurry up and push through my first full run this weekend; I'd like to have one karma run completed before the Uncharted 2 multiplayer beta starts on Wednesday. Then, I'm guessing I'll be splitting time between that and a second inFamous run for pretty much most of June. Sweet.

    • When will the Photos app be updated to remember the window size and position when reopened? They addressed this issue in a 2024 version of the app (though I can't recall the build number). Unfortunately, after that specific version, the problem persists! Please prioritise this fix in your K2 schedule. Additionally, the Snipping Tool has lost the ability to capture the Windows Taskbar starting from the 2024 version!

    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.
