HP Photosmart driver installer keeps freezing

This problem dates all the way back since we've had a Windows 7 build to play around with, and quite honestly I've just about had it with HP sitting on their arses in terms of driver support. Why can't they be as prompt with support for Windows 7 as the GPU companies? Anyways...

The driver installers they release for my printer - Photosmart C6380 - keep freezing after the printer's detected over a network connection. It freezes at about 87% with the message reading "Waiting for SLP reply from (printer's IP address)"

I'm not the only one with this problem either. Alternatively I could add the printer via Devices and Printers, but as indicated in this post, the printer does install and show up in Devices and Printers, but any prints will fail.

I remember it used to work in the past while it was on a wired connection (after killing the installer processes and ignoring its attempt to "recover" itself after a reboot), but since switching it to a wireless connection it keeps failing.

Ideas?

Interesting... I was kinda hoping it was just a 64-bit driver issue. I've tried everything you have, and no success as of yet. I end up just transferring it across the network to a Vista machine to print; not ideal, but not much I can do as of yet...

I just gave up on networked connections and went back to a USB connection. All drivers installed right away, both for printing and scanning.

Using a USB connection allows for ink status messages to be sent and to access the 3 media readers on your PC. (Y)

      In the past few days I have noticed two odd moderation activities. First, when I posted the term 'White Nationist Christian' it was asterisk's out. When I changed it to **** it was allowed! Second, in the Politics is a ###business thread I was allowed to post that the GOP is a party of p e d ophiles but I was censored  when I posted the GOP are a party of p e d ophile protectors. Wtf Neowin. Please explain.
