Martyn
What do you expect for new owners? They have to make their mark. Yours did it by putting you into horrible debt and killing what were amazing stadium plans, ours did it by splashing out. I was simply stating that City have spent more 'than average', which is what you indicated ?30 million to be.
|Rapture|
Unless you consider, Given, De Jong, Kompany, Robinho, Jo, Bellamy, Santa Cruz, Bridge, Barry, academy players, but at least it's ended there, it's not like your trying to sign Eto'o Terry Tevez or Lescott to really make sure the academy players don't get a chance. Name a premiership side with a better youth program. For something thats only 10 years old they've done great things. Sturridge is the only academy player to leave this window. There are 7 academy players in the first team at the moment. It's not like City had a great stadium until the government splashed out. So?

That isn't making your mark, that is using money to achieve something that would otherwise have been unachievable. Name a premiership side with a better youth program. If their youth plan is so wonderful, why would they need to spend so much money? Also, Carragher and Gerrard came from Liverpool's youth academy, when was the last time a player of that calibre came out of man city's? Sorry to burst your bubble, but all Man City are trying to do is out chelsea the chelsea team by buying the premier league with an even higher level of spending, they don't deserve and haven't earnt any of it. Martyn
Sturridge was nicked from another club anyway, he wasn't completely grown through Man City's youth academy. To be fair though, Liverpool's academy has not produced since Gerrard. It is becoming more and more common for clubs to turn to abroad for young players, simply because the quality is not available in the UK. Liverpool have good youth players, ala Pacheco, Nemeth, Insua and Bruna...but they have all been stolen from foreign clubs. Top class English players are becoming more rare year upon year, it is a shame really. As for the best academy in the England, surely that title belongs to Boro? They seem to produce a fair amount of starting XI players; Downing, Cattermole, Weater, Johnson etc.

Shycho
arsenal If we're counting young players who were stolen and put in the youth team for a while, then surely man utd win that one? Gibbs Wilshere and Simpsons apart who have Arsenal actually raised and not just stolen? Although they have stolen some quite good young players...shockingly...
