Smallville Season 9

Recommended Posts

Eh, I don't like the way this season is starting to sound honestly. They are bringing in WAY to many DC comics people now. I mean, Clark still hasn't flown or done anything really "Supermanly" yet, so eh. I dunno. Metallo might be cool, and I still wonder how they are gonna handle Zod after all.

He was killed by a robotic assassin in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles last spring, and now Brian Austin Green is coming back to TV as a different kind of cyborg. In a two-episode arc on Smallville (beginning with the September 25 season premiere), Green plays John Corben, a new Daily Planet reporter who becomes the comic-book villain Metallo. In the aftermath of an accident, Corben is mysteriously outfitted with a heart made of kryptonite. Executive producer Kelly Souders won?t reveal the identity of his Frankenstein-esque savoir, but says Corben is turned into ?a rough version of Metallo, a first attempt at the technology, and eventually he?ll get sleeker.? So might we see him again? ?Well of course?it?s Smallville,? she says with a laugh. ?We?re actually throwing some ideas around right now in the hopes that we might be able to bring him back for another episode.?

Yesterday, we showed you a first look at bare-chested Brian Austin Green, as John Corben, aka Metallo. Executive producer Kelly Souders says we'll be seeing:

a rough version of Metallo, a first attempt at the technology, and eventually he'll get sleeker.

Which suggests we'll see more of Green in future episodes. [TV Guide]

There are also some detailed spoilers from the fifth episode "Idol." Lois visits with her psychiatrist, Dr. Evans, and describes some extremely violent and erotic dreams. When Dr. Evans asks whether the dreams might be about Clark, Lois admits that she's been doing the "virtual kama sutra" with Clark, and that she feels he's been hiding something she wants to uncover. During the session, Clark calls as "The Red-Blue Blur," but Lois sends him to voicemail, miffed that he's disappeared on her before.

We know by this point that Chloe is aware of Clark's incognito phone calls, and she tells Clark that he's going to need a better disguise. Lois, at some point, suspects that Clark may be the Blur, and Clark gets an opportunity to save Lois ? but as himself, not the Blur. Metropolis DA Ray Sacks calls for the Blur to reveal himself and condemns the Blur's vigilante actions, but it's Lois who eventually steps forward on the Blur's behalf, saying she understands why he can't reveal himself and that he's important as a symbol. Also, we may see some Wonder Twins action, with Zan and Jayna taking the form of a black panther and a sheet of ice. [Kryptonsite]

The sixth episode "Roulette" opens with Oliver in a speakeasy, having maxed out his credit and feeling generally down on life. The DC villainous Roulette approaches him, under the guise of "Victoria Sinclair," sporting a slinky red dress and an elaborate dragon tattoo. She manages to convince Oliver to take a pill, which causes his vision to blur before he passes out. Later in the episode, Roulette reveals that if Oliver had not taken the pill, her employers would have killed her, and it's implied that this is all part of an elaborate game. Roulette is later shot, and Oliver taken into custody under suspicion of murder, but he is released by an FBI agent who knows about this game. Also, Chloe is present in a scene in which Clark is presented with an image of Alia, a woman we meet in the season premiere. Later, Chloe is disturbed by a symbol, and she refers to a woman from the future, who may also be Alia. [Krypton Site]

Geoff Johns reveals that in a future episode, "Society," we'll meet the Justice Society, an older generation of heroes who come out of retirement to see "how the current generation operates." [Krypton Site]

In the seventh episode "Crossfire," Clark accompanies Lois when she auditions to host a television show on WGBS, "Good Morning, Metropolis." The show's producer recognizes the chemistry between Lois and Clark, and decides he won't hire one without the other. As a bit for the show, Lois and Clark are each set up on dates with other people, with Lois talking into an earbud in Clark's ear on his date and vice versa. Although Lois teases Clark that his admission that he grew up on a farm will earn him either a country mouse or a cougar for a date, he actually ends up dining with a stunning blonde, who leaves Lois shocked and jealous. Lois is intent on making Clark just as jealous during her date, but apparently ends up tipsy as Clark at some point whispers in her ear "The last thing you need is a drink, Lois." At the end of Lois' date, Clark tells her date he's a lucky man, which pleases Lois.

At some point during the episode, Tess is in Zod's mansion, and Zod tells one of his people that if Tess won't reveal who the Blur is, he should kill her. Also, Oliver will meet Mia "Speedy" Dearden, who wears an awful lot of red and yellow. She also happens to be a hooker with a nasty tattooed pimp named Rick, and Oliver tells her he wants to help her. And when she takes Oliver out in his Lamborghini, he jokingly calls her "Speedy." Oliver will also briefly meet up with Lois and the Ace of Clubs. [KryptonSite]

So remember how we mentioned Ollie would be getting a new sidekick? Apparently it is Speedy ? but she's based on the latest version in the comics, Mia Dearden. She's even HIV-positive like her comics counterpart. (Ah, Judd Winick.) She has a "sordid past" and encounters Ollie in some shady places, but she has great martial-arts skills, so Ollie steps up to train her. She dons the red-and-yellow comics costume in episode six. When we meet the JSA, its members will include Hawkman, Spectre, Doctor Fate and the Atom. And Perry White may finally be joining the Daily Planet.TV Guide Magazineb>]

Here's the official description for the Season Nine premiere, "Savior:"

Clark (Tom Welling) tells Jor-El he's ready to start his training, but Jor-El sends him back to Metropolis to cut ties with Lois before he can begin. Chloe (Allison Mack) is shocked when Lois (Erica Durance) suddenly reappears after having been missing for weeks, but Lois has no recollection of vanishing into thin air with the Legion ring. While investigating a monorail crash, Lois meets John Corben (guest star Brian Austin Green), a new reporter at The Daily Planet, with a negative attitude toward the Red-Blue Blur. Chloe begs Clark to use the Legion ring to go back in time to save Jimmy, but he refuses, driving a wedge into their friendship. Meanwhile, Oliver (Justin Hartley) continues down a dark road, and Zod (Callum Blue) arrives at the Luthor mansion.

so are they gonna make reference (other then at the funeral) for clarks friend jimmy olsen??

If i sound wierd just remember that the one in smallville isnt the red head bowtie reporter that is in the later comics.

At his funeral, his full name is revealed to be Henry James Olsen, not James Bartholomew Olsen. His camera is given to his younger brother. His name is not mentioned but the boy is wearing a bowtie leading to the possibility that this is the Jimmy Olsen that will befriend Superman.

    • While I agree with all that, it just proves there's an a** built for every seat.
    • Lol are you mad because I'm not using AI? I'd rather pay people than lose a bunch of potential customers and get humilated because I used AI. A lot of people won't purchase a game if it used AI during development.

    • hahahahah wow hahahah you sure got me there hahahahahah, you know that bad performance is always due to poor optimization by the developers, right???
    • "I know for a fact I'll never own one of these." This is why choice is better than government regulation. Globaly Android has something like 72% of the smartphone market. Granted the vast majority of that is low end phones. Apple can and should charge whatever they want. The market will decide if it is too much.
