Spookie
Wtf is up with Shift's handling? The game looks great, why did they have to throw it away with GRiD like handling  Turn the aids off ;) ... Then proceed to turn them back on again after you obliterate your driver after hitting a wall sideways at 60 MPH. :p
Kushan
I've never really been a huge fan of racing games, but I put this on earlier to try it and I have to say, I'm really enjoying it. What was a rental is going to be a buy for me, unless Forza does something really special.
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted September 12, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 12, 2009 :DWHAT??? grid like? all those reviews where they compared the game to likes of Forza, GT... did EA also pay the reviewers? :p btw, what driver aids are you using? low TC is a must for gamepad users (atleast in GTR2 :D ). I've not even read the reviews for the game, but if they are saying the handling is comparable to Forza and GT, lmao then yeah they've been paying them all off. It's not even close to either game, I have no idea who the hell would even suggest that. It didn't even enter my mind. Honestly, NFS Shift is just like GRiD, you make a slight nudge on the thumb stick and it doesn't just turn the car, it doesn't even just slide it. It's over the top drifting. @spookie, I was only playing the first race where they test your driver skill and what difficulty level you should play on / what aids you should use. Seriously, I can't believe reviews are saying the handling is like Forza/GT. Funniest **** I've heard all year

DrunknMunky Veteran Posted September 12, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 12, 2009 No but seriously, I'm amazed they've actually came out and said that. I'm just about done watching my movie, but when I have I'm recording a video for you guys and showing you just how bad the drifting is.

DrunknMunky Veteran Posted September 12, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 12, 2009 I let the game calculate my settings based on my driving... Plus I didn't see anything about adjusting steering lock?
Spookie
I let the game calculate my settings based on my driving...Plus I didn't see anything about adjusting steering lock? Set it to experienced and fiddle with the assists. :) Steering lock is under car tuning. After a bit of tweaking I can set my M3 to almost full lock on experienced with low traction control and unless I turn out then in when hitting a corner or hit it at 80MPH the car screeches like cat going through a mangle but I still come out the other end at full pelt with a tiny bit of correction to prevent a drift. DrunknMunky Veteran Posted September 12, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 12, 2009 Ok I've set that to like 70+ now and upgraded the breaks and it still does it. Not as bad as before but still wtf. I'm so not into these arcade racers. You go from like 100+mph to 30 in 1 sec, wtf

Trying to pry the controller out of unimatrix xero's hands is a task (a personal audience with the pope is an easier task in comparison).

+Mystic MVC Posted September 18, 2009 MVC Share Posted September 18, 2009 Didn't they do the same with Dirt 1, but with DX10? I honestly don't remember, I'm pretty sure I ended up getting it on the 360 regardless.
StealMySoda
Picked this up with my new PS3 a couple of days ago. Haven't been able to play much yet, but what I have played I thoroughly enjoyed.
Flash
Is there any point in playing DiRT 1 or should I just get DiRT 2?
JustGeorge
Dirt2 is great! My only gripes with it so far are the cheezy dialog during the track intros, the lack of any real car customizing and "Liveries"
Elliot B.
Is there any point in playing DiRT 1 or should I just get DiRT 2? They're both different. DiRT 1 may feel quite dated now, though - even if you're new to it.
+Mystic MVC Posted September 19, 2009 MVC Share Posted September 19, 2009 Dirt2 is great! My only gripes with it so far are the cheezy dialog during the track intros, the lack of any real car customizing and "Liveries" I take the cheesy dialogue as long as I can hear the announcer keep saying my nickname over and over again...spanky! My personal favorite would have to be when there is a lot of contact and I hear, "Spanky, you are being too aggressive out there!" :woot:
JustGeorge
The announcer or the in-race dialog is fine, its the "This is China...Its a whole new world" or "This is Malaysia....people play HArd here". I could really do without that kinda stuff. Not as bad as SFIV's stupid character dialog though.
